1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Saving Coin types in Awesome Miner. Am I missing something? on: December 18, 2017, 06:49:38 PM
When I specify a coin type in awesome miner, it doesn't save the info. Each time it switches algos I have to reenter the coin type.

Is this normal, or am I doing it wrong?

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 1080 ti's, Winminer and Awesome Miner/MPH on: December 16, 2017, 07:31:08 PM
So I just upgraded my rx480s to 1080 ti, and have some questions.

First; Winminer wont seem to run the Lyra miner. No matter how many time I benchmark, or even manually select that miner, it refuses to use it. Frustrating, as that seems to me the most profitable algo according to Whattomine.

Second: Since it wont use the Lyra miner, Zen seems the next most profitable currently. When comparing the results of Zen in Winminer against Awesome Miner/MPH, Winminer reports $3.90-ish usd per card, while MPH says I'm getting around 5.75-ish usd per card. Hash rates were nearly identical.

Id heard rumors that Winminer wasn't reporting the full production, and really hoped that wasn't the case.

These results, although anecdotal, are not reassuring.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / You have a 5k budget to spend on mining equipment. What do you do? on: December 09, 2017, 04:21:15 PM
With the recent price spike up to 19k, I was lucky enough to be sitting in front of my PC at the right time and cashed out part my initial investment into crypto. I'm now looking to diversify by putting that capital back into mining equipment.

Vega? 1080 ti? ASIC? Wait for the next best GPU?

Ive got 4 rx480s running now for the least few months, so I have a base of mining knowledge. Just not sure in which direction to take the next step.

Thanks in advance!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can I use multiple drivers for AMD on the same system? on: November 09, 2017, 02:52:53 PM
Ive got 3 cards in my mining rig. Ideally I would run my 2 rx480 as dedicated miners on the AMD blockchain driver, and my rx570 on the most recent AMD driver. This would allow my to dual purpose the 570 for mining when idle, but leave me an option for gaming when desired.

Am I asking for too much?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Struggling with adding 3rd GPU... on: November 03, 2017, 03:47:34 PM
Greetings,

New to the msg board and crypto mining, not new to bitcoin.

I currently have the following hardware mining successfully on nicehash:

i7 5820k
MSI x99s Plus motherboard
4x4gb ddr4
RX480 x 2

I have the 2 480s bios modded and clocked/volted with afterburner. Working great, very stable. On the latest AMD drivers released 11/2/17.

I wanted to add a 3rd card with bone stock settings (asus strix rx570) that I would use to display/game while the 2 480s churned in the background. When the PC was sitting idle I would begin mining with the 570 as well. That was my plan at least.

When I install the 570 it all goes to crap. The 570 will work initially, then the display goes black. If I switch the hdmi to a 480 for display, I can no longer see the 570 in windows device manager. Would there be some driver conflict because the 480s have modded bios and the 570 is stock?

Im stumped. Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas for me...
