Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / multiseeder : Multiple BlockChain DNS Seeder / Node Tracker
on: January 11, 2022, 04:41:37 PM

Multiple Block Chain DNS Seeder / Node Tracker multiseeder In order to support several Altcoins on a single machine / VPS, we have built upon joe@exor's excellent work with generic-seeder to create multiseeder. Thanks also to sipa, creator of the original bitcoin seeder. multiseeder examines the DNS query packet to select which set of IP nodes, from the several coin networks it tracks, it will give back to the asking client. multiseeder supports the ' settings.conf' configuration files of generic-seeder in a single binary, making it possible to support up to 10 different altcoin networks with the same VPS. multiseeder uses the ncurses library to present a consistent, organized display. example ' settings.conf' files are included in the distribution for Bitmark (MARKS), Exor (EXOR) and Vertcoin (VTC) multiseeder scans /usr/local for directories of the form ' sDNS.<COIN>', and seeks to read ' settings.conf' from each of these directories.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alternative Ticker Symbol for Bitmark (BTM)
on: January 08, 2018, 08:58:39 AM
Bitmark was launched in July 2014, with the ticker symbol BTM. We are in the process of listing on Cryptopia.co.nz, where Bitmark's ticker symbol BTM is already taken (by a latecomer coin launched in June of last year). Cryptopia operates on a first-come first served basis, so we must choose an alternative ticker symbol to be used there.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Alcheminer 256 Bricked !
on: October 14, 2017, 11:32:27 PM
Alcheminer 256 I wanted to set an Alcheminer 256 to a fixed ip address, so I edited the /etc/network/interfaces file. On re-boot, the LCD just shows IP 0.0.0.0 and I can no longer ssh into it. The controller board seems to be unique ( I mean, it's not a Raspberry Pi, it's not a beaglebone, etc.) Does anybody know a way to get a console into it ? There seem to be 2 sets of pins which might be for this purpose, JP1 and JP2 Any help or input appreciated !

Economy / Currency exchange / CoinWarz.com listing Cryptsy as an exchange renders it useless.
on: January 06, 2016, 07:16:33 PM
With all the issues going on at Cryptsy, it's not prudent to deposit any cryptos there, at least for the time being. Coinwarz.com lists Cryptsy as the exchange for the majority of the coins it rates, making it useless as a rating service, IMO. Many of the coins are traded on other exchanges. CoinWarz should do the work and list other, alternate exchanges for the coins it rates. If Cryptsy is a coin's only exchange then the coin is just not a contender.

Bitcoin / Hardware / ASICMiner Blade - Communication & Control Board Substitution
on: September 23, 2013, 06:12:14 PM
Is there information which would enable someone to replace the comm/control module, which only speaks getwork() with another unit ? Say, something programmed to understand Stratum protocol, without the need for an intermediate proxy. Or, can the same module be re-programmed ( I believe it's a 18x serier Microchip PIC processor) ?

Bitcoin / Hardware / Labor Day ? Blades on Strike ?
on: September 03, 2013, 08:06:54 PM
I have Blades that started misbehaving 2 days ago. One Blade's comm modules completely stopped functioning (no yellow link light, no activity at all) and a replacement module is on its way from ASICMiner.
But the other Blades are now only developing less than 1000 MH/s. One is at "0", and it seems to be re-setting or re-booting itself, for no reason, approximately every 2minutes 12 seconds. (Link light goes off momentarily, Up Time counter re-sets to 0)
I've tried different pools, stripping down the services on the Linux box running the Stratum proxy, to no avail ....

https://deepbit.net/Is this a reputable / trustworthy pool ? They have painful spelling errors on the landing page, for one .... "Download any of this bitcoin miners" ... 'this' is singular, 'these' is for the plural Sorry if it seems nitpicky, but this kind of raises a flag ...

Other / Beginners & Help / CPU Mining
on: June 18, 2013, 12:21:31 AM
I understand that CPU mining of bitcoins is simply not profitable at the current difficulty level. Primarily for this reason, Con Kolivas removed CPU mining from 'cgminer'. However, some of the other alt-cryptocurrencies have much lower difficulties, and for the purpose of learning, not everyone has high-end GPU cards or ASIC or FPGA's. My question is, what is the last version of cgminer that does CPU mining, and where can it be found ?
