2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Room Intake Filters on: May 09, 2018, 05:34:41 PM
Anyone have suggestions on filter types for intake?  I'm pulling in air from the outside and I it's pulling in a lot of dust/dirt/ect.  I know I've seen someone talk about what types to use and what not to use, but I can't find the old post I read it in.

Do any of you listen to podcasts or watch youtube videos?  Or maybe even read this forum for a little while, before posting ridiculous questions?  Or just google it?  Come on guys.  You need to gain your knowledge from every single avenue that is available to you.

Do it.  Live, Breath, Learn, Ask intelligent questions, Learn more.  Be wrong, kick yourself, don't make the same mistake twice.  Oh ummm ... You just learned something.  You're now smarter than you were yesterday.

If I really wanted to learn about any subject on the face of this earth, I would read, listen, and collaborate until I couldn't take it anymore and had to sleep.  Do it daily and never stop.  Wecome to crypto.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti AERO on: February 22, 2018, 12:27:45 AM
Anyone have this card?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137253

I'm having to run the fan at 90% to get the card down to 75-76C.  Is that the norm for a blower card?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ventilation - Is this going to work? on: February 21, 2018, 12:37:47 AM
My mining room currently has 30 gpu's running.  Room is 1680 cubic feet.  I have two windows and have purchased two of these ...

https://www.build.com/air-king-9166/s380951?uid=441363

One to pull air in and one to push air out.

On the low setting it does 2510 CFM.  If you do the math it comes out to be about 89 air changes per hour on the low setting.  2510x60=150600/1680=89.64

Currently it is about 22C outdoor temp.  Ambient temp of the mining room is around 38C.  This is with both windows open.  Mining room door shut.  I have a cheap box fan in one window pulling hot air out.  No fan in the other window right now.  All five 6-gpu rigs have a cheap 20" box fan behind them and my gpu temps currently range between 59C and 70C.

Summer time outdoor temps sometimes reach 37C on the hottest days of the summer.  Average is probably between 26-32C.  Are my ventilation plans going to be sufficient?  How does humidity play into it?  Sometimes we have some pretty humid days during the summer here.

The other thing I've thought about is portable air conditioning, but everything I've read says that it's way more important to propertly ventilate than it is to cool the air.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / I think my switched PDU just killed two PSU's on a rig on: January 24, 2018, 01:31:16 AM
I think I screwed up big time.  I bought a switched PDU, so I could restart miners from work, when they hang on occassion.  I'm using two psu's per miner with a dual psu adapter to connect them to the board like the one below ...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074DQJY8K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I went to test it out by shutting down two of the outlets on the pdu that one of the miners was connected to.  When I went to turn both of those pdu outlets back on, nothing came on.  I took that miner off of the switched pdu and plugged it in elsewhere.  Still nothing.  So I swapped the board ... Still won't power on.

Is it possible that both pdu outlets didn't power back on at the exact same time and that's what caused this?

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Event Log Error - Win10 on: January 16, 2018, 11:58:40 PM
I'm getting Event ID 11 - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 in my Win10 event logs on one of my 6 gpu miners.  They are pretty constant and the rig will run for about 6-8 hours before crashing.

Ballistix Sport 4GB DDR4
Crucial 120GB SSD
Celeron 7th Gen Processor
(2) EVGA 1000W GQ Gold
(6) ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix 1080ti's

Thus far I have swapped the sata cable, moving the sata cable to a different sata controller (i've tried all 4), wrote my image to a new ssd and swapped it, installed latest chipset drivers, checked for bios update, nothing in the bios looks any different than any of my other 3 rigs.  Ran chkdsk.  No bad sectors.

Is there anything else anyone can think of doing before I swap the board?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What a nightware ... Lesson learned. on: January 07, 2018, 11:45:25 PM
So earlier today I noticed that one of the gpu's in a 6 card 1070ti rig wasn't hashing.  I checked device manager in Windows 10 and it showed a Code 43 error.  I identified the problem gpu and started searching around online for soluctions.  Found a number of things ranging from a simiple restart to removing and reinstall the video drivers.  I did pretty much everything I could think of ...

Disabled and Re-enabled in device manager, uninstalled the gpu in device manager, I attempted to reboot in safe mode to use ddu, but my system would hang every time I tried to do that. (I later realized that I could get into safe mode just fine when I tried to do it with the gpu's unplugged)  At that point, I tried reverting back to a previous restore point, which failed several times.  So then I decided I would write my base Win10 image to the drive.  It's a pain, but not that big of a deal, since I made an image of every mining rig hdd after installing the OS and tweaking things exactly the way I wanted them, but prior to installing any gpu's.  At this point from what I was reading, I thought maybe it was a driver issue.  Tried different Nvidia drivers, nothing was working.

Still had the same Code 43 error in device manager on that one card.  I had swapped the riser earlier in the troubleshooting process with another in the same rig and I started thinking maybe I had a bad gpu.  So I have another 6 card gpu rig with identical hardware ... Board, processor, ram, gpu's are all the same.  I put the gpu into my other rig and it worked just fine.

So back to my problem rig ... I put the known good working gpu from the other rig into the problem rig and I was right back to the Code 43 error.  Tried a brand new riser with new usb and power cable, same issue ... One thing I had not checked was the power from the card to the psu.  Earlier in the day I just assumed that it was getting power, if it was showing up in device manager.  So I check ... the cable pops right out of the psu when I moved it.  When I built the rig a few weeks ago, it must not have snapped in the cable on the psu end.  With the way everything is positioned in my rig frame, it is very hard to see what's what when you're looking at the cables plugged into the psu's.  Actually had to shine a flash light in there and still had a hard time seeing it.

So after 6 hours of troubleshooting it ended up being one cable that had come unplugged from the psu.  I'm guessing the power from the riser was enough to get the gpu to show up in device manager and for some reason, that never occurred to me until I was 6 hours into it.

What a fun day.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / PSU Question on: December 27, 2017, 02:57:04 PM
Can the CPU1 and CPU2 on a EVGA 750W Gold PSU be used to supply power to a GPU?  Are they the same as the VGA's?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Remote Hashrate Monitoring? EWBF's CUDA Zcash Miner on: December 25, 2017, 04:05:34 AM
Is there a remote hashrate monitor in the EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner like there is in XMR-STAK?  I'm failing to figure out how to configure it if there is.
13  Other / Meta / Watchlist on: December 20, 2017, 11:50:50 PM
Is there a reason why my watchlist doesn't work correctly?  I add a thread to the watchlist and then I go up and click on watchlist ... No where to be found.  There is one thread that is listed which I added a month ago ... Nothing I've added since then seems to appear on my watchlist.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / HODL App on: December 14, 2017, 02:14:11 AM
Is there a desktop application like the mobile HODL app that will allow you to pick coins and the exchange prices it displays for them?  I know they have a Chrome browser extension, but it isn't near as customizable as the smart phone app.  The Chrome extension won't allow you to select the exchange you want a specific coin price to be displayed in.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto Exchange Rate Calculators on: December 09, 2017, 03:18:28 AM
Is there a site that actually does a real time calculation for XMR to USD?  Everything I've found is basing the math off of an exchange rate that is way higher than the current trading price on Kraken and Poloniex.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Offloading Monero on: December 08, 2017, 11:55:57 PM
Where is the best place to get rid of Monero, if you're in the United States?  I've been looking at Bittrex, Kraken, and Poloniex ... But I'm a getting confused.  Can it be converted to USD on an exchange or am I going to have to sell and buy BTC with ... And then send the BTC to Coinbase in order to get it into USD?
