5  Bitcoin / Meetups / Bitcoin meetups + Periscope is a match made in heaven on: August 27, 2015, 06:45:26 PM
So now that we have Periscope (and meerkat), using them at bitcoin meetups is only the right thing to do.  I personally prefer Periscope but thats personal preference.  The meetups we hold here in Pensacola and Mobile are quite small but having an unlimited audience from Periscope would be great, Im sure other groups could use it too.  Not only would it help small groups but I would love to attend large groups such as SF and Austin, etc etc.

For those of you who haven't experience Periscope yet its really great.  Live broadcasting from your mobile.  It really works well as long as you have a decent signal strength.  Two caveats though are battery and bandwidth but those should be workable.  I am willing to volunteer to broadcast our meetups in Mobile and Pensacola if anyone else is willing to in other locations.

The next post is a list of broadcaster usernames for you all to follow so we don't miss any.

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Dell 750 W PSU Questions on: July 22, 2015, 08:02:37 PM
Hi All,

I have 2 dell z750 PSUs and adapters (i forget what make they are, see pic).  I am going to be running a couple S3s off them (with plans to step up to S5s).  For those of you that have done this; can I run two S3s off each one of these?  Use 16 or 18 AWG cables?  Could I connect two sets of cables to each one or am I asking for trouble doing that?  Recommendations where to get such cables?  Am I missing anything?

9  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] S1 Converted to S3 with one board down on: July 22, 2015, 07:12:30 PM
Hey guys,

We had a storm and I noticed my hash rate dropped by 1/4 (I have 2 S3s) and I went to find that one of the boards on one of them was cold.  I fooled with it for a few but no go.  Would anyone like to purchase a half operative S3?  Asking BTC0.2 + BTC0.05 Shipping to continental US.  To whom ever buys it, it's configured for DHCP so plug it in and find it on your network when you get it.  See pics below as well as screen shot of the reduced hash rate.

Cool Side (not working)

Warm Side (working)

Hash rate (256 Seconds)
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Hot cables on S3, what am I doing wrong? on: July 22, 2015, 06:42:58 PM
I have an S3+ and an S1 converted to S3.  We had a storm and my hash rate dropped so I went to see what was up and I found this....

Power supply is a Corsair TX850 btw.

So the drop in hash rate was the S1->S3 conversion apparently had one of the boards fail most likely from the storm.  The S3+ power cable was way hot when I touched it and I unplugged it and the the connector basically fell apart.  Now the 850 should be plenty to run these two.  What am I doing wrong here?  The burnt ends were the negative cables if that helps.

Now see this pic:

This is the S1/S3, its connectors seemed to get a lil warm, enough to discolor the plastic but they weren't very warm to the touch at the moment but the warm was on the positive side.  Not negative like the other miner.  I don't get it.

Lastly, I'm going to change to these PSUs with these adapters.

What gauge wires should I be using and how many PCIe connections should i take off each of these Dell PSUs?

Thanks for the help
