Can somebody outline the benefits and disadvantages for Coinbase and Blockchain?

As a newbie considering making his first purchase I'm looking for some advice as to which coin would be the most beneficial to invest in now (mid-long term).

My starting budget is 500 GBP (approx. 662.31 USD).

I'll be using coinbase so my options are Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.

Any advice would be appreciated.
