1  Economy / Economics / The effects of Samsung getting into ASIC mining on: February 23, 2018, 02:10:52 PM
When I read that Samsung was going into ASIC mining machines I had my doubts, but now the news are all over the place. Do you think that this will concentrate mining into fewer hands or it could possible make more accessible the purchase of ASIC mining equipment? Will it centralise or decentralise? What is going to be the communityīs response?

Could this be the feared "Ethash ASIC"?

These are some news related to this topic, although they are quite non-specific as they say "machines to mine bitcoin or ethereum" which makes little sense.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Insurance and the Blockchain on: February 21, 2018, 10:52:15 PM
I would like to make a list of insurance related projects, and may extend this to other areas.

Eventually, I would like to extend this to a few sectors and make reference indexes.

The reason I have to do such a thing is to evaluate the degree of maturity of the market to mature. Bear with me for a minute.
As the recent events have shown, most of the alts and coins are moving in parallel to Bitcoin. I does not make any sense to have such and incredibly strong correlation. While it is true that bitcoin and alts can be considered in marketing terms as "near sustitutes" and therefore will have some correlation, the perspective of the mining related projects (like Ice Rock Mining, Hydrominer, ...) is completely different in terms of expectations from the insurance applications and platforms (policypal, insurepal, ...) which are in a different are than fund requesting or ICO related platformes (RocketICO, KickICO, ..)

The perspectives of these sectors and the ability of the blockchain technology and the alts to influence them is not the same and it is unlikely that they have strongly correlated values.

So I am asking for names and links to projects on these sectors, preferably those already listed and available on Coinmarketcap.

- Insurance
- Lending
- Gaming / entertainment / Betting
- Advertising.
- Chains / coins
- Crypto Mining.
- Payment / banking
- Social networks

Please, keep on-topic.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ICOs on the insurance sector on: February 20, 2018, 12:37:53 PM
Which ICOs are being launched or have recently been launched for diverse insurance purposes that you know? What are your views and the perspectives on these ICOs?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ICOs using Artificial Inteligence on: February 20, 2018, 12:37:10 PM

Which ICOs out there are working in the field of Artificial Intelligence? I know that many of them claim to use AI for different purposes, the last one that made me laugh a bit was one that wanted to use AI to search lost treasures at sea.  Any out there that you consider serious?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Personalities in the Bitcoin panorama on: February 18, 2018, 09:05:42 PM
I am interested in knowing who is who in the world of crypto. The most obvious personality is "satoshi" but there are others linked to the promotion of Bitcoin, Crypto and the Blockchain. Does anyone contribute to this list with a name and a mini-description?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Have you supported a dead coin? on: February 16, 2018, 07:00:53 PM
Have you ever supported, bought or mined a coin that died later on? Why did you support it? What did you learn from it?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Red days resistant portfolio on: February 01, 2018, 10:52:51 PM
As I am writing this, most coins are have been in red all week and look like they are going to stay like that for a while. In moments like this, one wishes to know how to build a more resistant portfolio or have a strategy to minimize the drops by buying stable and selling speculative coins.

So, I am looking here for coins that are less related to Bitcoin or that are even able to grow when the heavy dips came. One of them is probably NEO (as today)... any others that you have seen having resilience? (please donīt just list, give a view of the coin)
8  Other / Meta / Why not limiting the Signature Campaigns and posts per week? on: January 27, 2018, 12:56:41 PM
IMHO and in many peoples opinion, many one of the main sources of spams are Signatures Campaigns. I am not in favour of suppressing these because they do provided finance and develop the world of cryptocurrencies.

I do participate on these campaigns because I can support a project that I like or think is good for the community and get a few tokens along the way, even if sometimes they are worth nothing   Roll Eyes

However, many of the campaigns set a minimum of posts that I have to make a week. Some of these ask for 20 posts a week, so I am faced with the dilemma of either having to say no to a campaign that I really like or having to post on low quality threads without much interest.

I know that many people here would say that I should not take the campaign,  but that is not a good solution as I do want to promote the projects I like.

For this, my proposal would be to limit the amount of postings required in any campaign to 1 a day or no more than 7 or 10 a week.

Any new campaign on the forum would have to follow this rule or risk not being accepted / be banned / muted.

9  Economy / Marketplace / Bitcoin and alts merchandising on: January 22, 2018, 10:25:55 AM
Do you know if there is any shop out there that has Bitcoin merchandising or Alts stuff? I assume that many of the logos are registered brands, but not so sure about BTC.
10  Economy / Economics / Can the Wall Street fat boys kill Bitcoin profits? on: January 22, 2018, 10:21:25 AM
I have read some posts and comments by senior members related on how the futures on Bitcoin are controlling the whole crypto-currencies market. Do you understand the effects? What your view?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / You Hodling strategy on: January 18, 2018, 01:38:52 PM
How do you think you can make more profit?

- By hodling just bitcoin for two years
- By hodling various coins for two years
- By buying and selling every other month
- By going to ICOs and hodl
- By going to ICOs and dump
- Daytradig
- Going for the Airdrops
- Other....

Just let us know about your masterplan to take over the world!

Edited to add new options

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / ONFIDO and Bitcoin Suisse KYC full of problems on: January 16, 2018, 07:03:05 PM
Everytime I find an ICO with a KYC process I know that I will have to spend my time before spending my money. But lately is becoming even worse, because if something is wrong with the KYC they donīt even bother answering. Particularly Bitcoin Suisse and Onfido are awful dealing with customers, who are investors in fact. Any experiences?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mixing transactions for better anonymity on: January 15, 2018, 01:15:18 PM
I have seen some adds of "chipmixing" services to make transactions much more difficult to track. I would like to hear opinions about the legitimacy and the real performance that can be expected.
14  Economy / Economics / Do bitcoin millonaires deserve their wealth? on: January 13, 2018, 04:48:11 PM
It is know that bitcoin has made a few millionaires, but many of these people donīt have any particular knowledge of the economy nor business. Do you think that is a fair situation?
15  Economy / Economics / Do you think that bitcoin can reduce corruption? on: January 13, 2018, 04:43:50 PM
Now that governments have a competitor in terms of currencies, do you think that they will make an effort to make the economic system more transparent or will they just try to ban everything?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do you think alts will be anonymous for long? on: January 02, 2018, 05:25:33 PM
I am not saying private, I am just saying if you think that the goverments are going to allow us to keep cryptocurrencies without having to notify it to the revenue services.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / The failed ICOs on: January 02, 2018, 05:23:16 PM
Everyone talks about how successful they have been buying shitcoin XYZ for .01 and selling it for 100 and so on, but... is anyone out there bold enough to talk about their greatest mistakes??

I will take a step forward... I bought some viberate in etherdelta for x10 the price because I missed 1 zero. Not an awful lot, but ouch!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Is HODLINg still valid to make profits on: December 22, 2017, 11:18:27 PM
This recipee could be a thing of the past. Nowdays it may be better to look for opportunities as lots of talent is going into the market. Do you still think of becoming a millionaire by hodling?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Why do some ICO promoters feel like they do not have to be fair with investors? on: December 22, 2017, 10:07:20 AM
I have now participated in a few ICOs. For the moment, I am glad I took part in Quantstamp, very organised, no rush, decent profit, ... excellent

And in all the rest... well, either you had to be quick on the keyboard and have a fast node (Gifto), there were technical problems (Bread), tokens were released before the end of the ICO (Ripio) and lately, the WAX token which has been the worst by far: The team decided to build a new blockchain, change the number of tokens and released tokens to some investors before other without locking them.

Some people say this is crypto, and what I say is that this behaviours and lack of compromise with the people that are trusting you and giving their money is going to kill the ICO business.

FOR INVESTORS - Track the teams, track the ICO managers, make sure that your money only goes to those that have a record of keeping their word. We have to defend ourselves. Please, care about your money because they don't.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / How to balance the portfolio on: December 20, 2017, 09:24:10 AM
I have a small portfolio of coins, now nearly 30 of them. I want to reduce my risk in general as now it seems that most coins are quite dependent on Bitcoin and / or Ethereum.

In your opinion, which coins can balance possible drops of price in these two better? I think of IOTA and XEM but I am sure there are others.
