1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bringing physical assets on chain on: September 29, 2021, 05:15:36 PM
For those that are following what 4K is doing, they just announced their beta launch of their marketplace.

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/09/29/4k-nft-marketplace-goes-live-bringing-physical-goods-to-the-blockchain/

“ 4K platform, a marketplace that allows users to mint non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing physical assets, launched on the Ethereum network Wednesday morning.”

Guess it’s time to grab a Rolex or Patek they have listed from my NFT gains  Grin

Anyone else heard of them?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cybersecurity firms are on the rise on: September 19, 2019, 10:43:46 PM
We are starting to see more blockchain focused cybersecurity startups pop up. The biggest and most established being Ciphertrace, Elliptic and Chainalysis but even small ones are popping up around the world.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SCO AMA: Nuls with Our World on: September 10, 2019, 10:38:35 PM
Our World which aims to build a virtual, free gaming world, where players can bother enjoy mutual interaction and PK. With five games already in commission OWD olans to issue some OWD Tokens through SCO by staking NULS.

This is a pretty cool interview to learn both about OWD games and why staking is involved

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will SCO become the new 2017 ICO? on: August 19, 2019, 10:17:05 PM
NULS just announced a new staking model known as the staked coin output. I am interested in this system because it allows those with the tokens to get rewarded with altcoins that are participating in the SCO.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / New Token Staking Reward Sysytem: The SCO on: August 13, 2019, 09:22:17 PM
Did anyone read this today regarding NULS new approach to staking? "Staked Coin Output"

Seems pretty cool to help gauge interest in projects before they need the funding

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Educating lawmakers on Bitcoin means instilling fears: esp money laundering on: August 01, 2019, 09:34:50 PM
The Digital Chamber's third event in Washington DC finally showed some light on the crypto space. While lawmarkers wanted to discuss the issues aorund blockchain technology and crypto assets companies like Ciphertrace wanted to showcase their blockchain forensics and AML solutions that are needed at such a perfect time.

Libra has definitely sparked more involvement from the government and it will be interesting to see how these months leading up to their launch unfold. What are your thoughts on regulations? Are we able to continue to move the industry forward with or without them?

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / cMix Protocol for Anonymous Communications on: July 25, 2019, 05:01:47 PM
Greater protection is needed for user's metadata as we have seen companies like Facebook compromise people's information. Elixxir is in the process of working on a platform that implements cMix at consumer scale to protect users security and privacy.

I have been a fan of David Chaum for some time now and really want to see this project successful especially if it's planning to offer private payments and messaging features.

Have any of you looked into the cMix whitepaper? Thoughts?

8  Bitcoin / Legal / The Hottest Commodity: Virgin Bitcoin on: July 23, 2019, 07:09:37 PM
Has anyone ever heard of or come across virgin bitcoin before? This article is super fascinating especially when there are people willing to pay top dollar for 'clean' bitcoins in countries that fear a crackdown on compliance

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cross Chain Compatibility on: July 16, 2019, 10:15:51 PM
The blockchain ecosystem is in dire need for cross chain comparability and a few projects are popping up on the horizon. Live platforms that I am aware of include Cosmos and Nuls but I know Polkadot is in the works as are a few other projects. Which ones are you most excited for? Which platforms should I become aware of?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Metaverse Capital set to play leading role in Elixxir's network on: June 24, 2019, 08:59:34 PM
Metaverse Capital Corp (CSE:FORK) has just revealed they have been selected as a node operator for the BetaNet for Elixxir. Set to launch in fall of 2019 FORK Director Steven Nerayoff believes that Elixxir along with CasperLabs and Algorand are providing global scalability for the internet.

All projects worth paying attention to imo

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will Elixxir offer privacy at scale? on: June 18, 2019, 07:18:11 PM
With the recent announcement of Libra there couldn't have come a better time than the privacy preserving Elixxir blockchain platform. Led by David Chaum who is on a mission to give users entire control over their private data and payments.

We are really in dire need of protecting privacy and I am grateful to see projects like this one coming into the limelight at the right time.

12  Bitcoin / Meetups / Blockchain and Financial Crime Compliance Webinar on: June 18, 2019, 07:00:07 PM
The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network recently released new guidance on AML application to companies that use virtual currency. This webinar will be great to hear what regulators expectations are and how virtual currency is becoming increasingly important to financial services.

The lineup of speakers is pretty stacked too.

Dave Jevans CEO of CipherTrace
Gabriel Hidalgo Managing Director of K2 Intelligence
John Squires Partner Dilworth Paxon LLP
David Lawrence founder CCO of RANE

As more enterprise level companies are starting to involve crypto I think it's time to start paying attention to where regulators are going to involve themselves
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ciphertrace Offers Easy AML to Bitcoin ATMs on: June 12, 2019, 08:55:48 PM
https://cryptobriefing.com/ciphertrace-easy-aml-bitcoin-atms/

Known as the Clean Crypto Kiosk Initiative this is pretty exciting to see a company like ciphertrace working to keep the atms compliant. I hope we first see more bitcoin atm machines but secondly AML compliant ones
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Would you use a domain name ins place of a wallet address? on: May 30, 2019, 09:46:58 PM
I've been seeing more and more people start to use a blockchain domain name that replaces their public address. I've seen .eth and even .zil from Unstoppable Domains. Do you think this will take off as more people sign up?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain Domain Names Auction on: May 29, 2019, 12:39:28 AM
https://medium.com/unstoppabledomain/guidelines-for-the-zil-auction-8c3e6fb062b9

Unstoppable Domains which is putting domain names on the blockchain is planning to have a upcoming auction this time adding two phases and having a buy now feature. I am interested to see which domains will be swooped up first and also what people decide in general.

Auction is held on June 27th if you want to get involved.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Platform to Connect All Assets both Physical and Digital on: May 14, 2019, 06:18:31 PM
https://medium.com/@Bytom_Official/bytom-mainnet-release-milestone-50536c920f8e

Bridging the digital and physical world assets and connecting them to the public blockchain will change the way that we are able to transact around the world. Bytom is one platform that is hoping to become the largest platform to do so which will enhance liquidity, security and value of assets.

I need a better understanding of all the different assets since my background isn't in finance but I think it's pretty exciting that I am interested in taking a proactive role now that blockchains are allowing us to do so.
17  Other / Serious discussion / Blockchain Domains and their Use Cases on: May 14, 2019, 05:16:44 PM
I've been hearing about Unstoppable Domains recently and wanted to know the reason behind putting domain names on the blockchain. The use cases are pretty relevant to UX issues- first being the intimidating cryptographic characters associated with a address. The domain would allow the user to have a simple human readable address that could connect to (BTC, ETH, LTC addresses)

The other use case being a website that the user owns and is free from censorship since they own their domain name and address.

To my knowledge no one is doing this but I do like the use case situations
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Prelixxir App Download on: May 12, 2019, 12:41:52 AM
Just found out you can gain early access to the Elixxir platform that is highly anticipated led by David Chaum. I am excited to see their UX and features after hearing about it a few months back

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Why we have this guy to thank for Mixing and Privacy Coins on: April 25, 2019, 09:52:39 PM
The more I learn about the Elixxir project and who the founder is (David Chaum) the more I am actually quite impressed with what his contributions have been to the crypto space and a precursor to many projects we know today (CoinJoin, Monero, Zcash)

The interview that happened recently at Paris Blockchain week makes you respect him on a whole other level https://cryptoinsider.com/interview-david-chaum-at-paris-blockchain-week-summit-2019/
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / E-cash inventor David Chaum making a comeback on: April 23, 2019, 10:26:04 PM
https://www.theblockcrypto.com/2019/04/23/e-cash-inventor-david-chaum-on-making-a-comeback-pre-empting-bitcoin-and-keeping-satoshi-anonymous/

David Chaum is an OG in the world of crypto gaining notoriety from his invention of DigiCash in 1989. Having flown under the radar for the past few years he's been building his own Bitcoin competitor called Elixxir. Claiming he wanted to build it privately and get it working before he wanted to present it to the world. I'm fond of this guy and believe the project to have a lot of potential.
