1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / any reasonable sha256 altcoins on: April 07, 2015, 05:41:27 AM
I normally hate the altcoin world but my old miner just isn't worth much on the bitcoin network.  What might I mine that has a reasonable trade in value for bitcoin.  Ideally I can use poloniex to trade or some other respected exchange.  I don't want to hodl the altcoin, just mine it and sell.
2  Other / Off-topic / Mist wants to step to me on: March 31, 2015, 04:53:21 AM
Note to others: Mist thought he could get away with some ridiculously unmotivated ad hominem attacks on me in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=709185.1660, I was calling him out on them there, but folks have suggested that it's not helpful to the thread. Therefore, I post my reply to him here, in order to respect the others in the moneypot thread.

I'm not directly addressing you, you are not the only one that reads posts. As for that mBTC typo, I was typing fast before I went to go for a run. Was not really paying too much attention to capitals at the time as I wanted to get going. Funny that you felt this was substantial enough to notice for you.

Funnier still that you, Mr. Grammar Champion, corrector of capitalizations, thinks that it's possible to use 2nd person pronouns without addressing someone.  So, we have two choices, either you were addressing me, or you were addressing the other readers.  But wait, it wasn't the other readers who called you out on your shit so it seems like me.  Again, Mr. Mist, Mr. Modern-day-Capitalization-Champion, get the fuck off my jock and I will quit calling you out for your inconsistencies and bullshit.

3  Other / Meta / unofficial thread ban? on: February 24, 2015, 06:58:32 PM
Hi mods,

I can't seem to post anything in the "overview of signature ad campaigns" thread run by Miche?? in services discussion.

The last 5 times I've tried to post anything there, including a simple test post, it's been deleted by a mod.

I'm not sure what's up with this but I figured I may as well report it somewhere.

This is a test post to see if mods/Mitche?? or others are banning me from posting any content in this thread or their mini-war on me a few days ago was some kind of fluke or was related to my criticism of ocupy[sic] coin or what?

I had posts removed several times in a row which criticised the ocupy[sic] coin and I didn't ever get to figure out why.  I have a suspicion that Miche?? is banning me from posting anything at all in here so I figured I can test that out.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "Ocupy Coin" has a spelling error on: February 24, 2015, 12:31:16 AM
I posted this content in the wrong thread (apparently) so it seems I have to start my own thread in order to get the word out there.  I simply wanted to comment in the overview of sig-ad campaigns that to me, the ocupy [sic] coin doesn't look very serious because they've got a misspelled common word in their name.   A mod deleted my post, and also deleted thread where I posted the deleted comment (apparantly if you post anything with the words "deleted content" anywhere other than meta then a mod will lock your thread and move it to meta (no matter what the actual topic is)).

Therefore this thread is my 4th attempt to place a simple criticism somewhere on this forum where it will not be deleted by a mod:

Opinion of sed:

Ocupy coin looks unserious because of the misspelling of occupy.

Thank you forum users for understanding my thought and thank you forum moderators for not deleting my 4th attempt to put this simple idea out (my first attempt was only 3 words long, can you believe it?).

5  Other / Meta / how to tell why a post was deleted on: February 18, 2015, 12:29:20 AM
Hi folks,

I posted earlier in the signature ad campaigns overview thread run by Mitche?? and had my post deleted.  My post was a criticism of the spelling of a coin which seemed to have a typo in it.  I posted the criticism rather tersely so I supposed that perhaps the moderator merely looked very fast at my post and didn't understand that it had value (perhaps didn't know what "[sic]" means, or something like that).  So, I reposted it in the thread with a quote and with a longer explanation of my criticism.  Surprisingly, I found this second post also deleted.

Now, I don't know why this is happening as I'm not used to having posts deleted (except occassionally from the self-moderated threads where some OP is outlawing any criticism of his product).  But as far as I can tell, the Overview thread isn't supposed to be self-moderated (although now that Miche?? is staff, perhaps it is effectively self moderated).

What I want to know is this: how can I tell who is deleting my posts and what reason they have deleting them.  If they merely don't like my criticism, that's pretty reprehensible.  If I'm breaking the rules in some way, then I need to know that in order to stop perpetrating it in ignorance.

I reposted my deleted content in my own thread where (hopefully) it won't be deleted again.

6  Other / Meta / posts deleted from "Overview of Signature ad campaigns" thread on: February 18, 2015, 12:21:54 AM
Hi folks,

I'm not sure if it's because the owner of that thread has explicitly disagreed with me and now he's staff so he gets to delete my posts or if it's for another reason.  But I've had two attempts at commenting in that thread removed today.  I'm posting them here for the public record (and to try to get someone to explain why they are censoring me in this thread).

Ahem, I'm not sure why a moderator decided to delete my post.  Perhaps, they don't know [sic]?  Pardon my conciseness, allow me to spell things out more verbosely:

I, sed, am somewhat surprised at the ostensible typo in the name of this coin.  Do altcoins really fly off the presses so fast that there's not even time to check the spelling on the title of the project?

Moderators, does this ^^^ work okay?

As far as I can tell the op has some beef with litecoins.  He wants them to developed or change it or whatever.   Bit those other coins he mentions with better "features" still don't have the one feature which matters when determining value: what someone is willing to pay for it.  Ltc has an established community, stable volume on exchanges, beyond bitcoin, its the only crypto you can actually use to buy something other than crypto.  Its obviously far from dead.

^^^ for the record
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What was your first face-to-face transaction that you spent your bitcoins on? on: August 10, 2014, 08:26:19 AM
I recently had my first experience paying for food and beverages in a restaurant using BTC.  It was a really fun experience to use bitcoins "in the real world" and not just for internet commerce.  I'm wondering what other people's first experence using their bitcoins fact-to-face was like.
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Has there ever been a double-spend? on: July 28, 2014, 01:05:03 AM
As far as I understand (and part of the point of this thread is for someone to correct me if I'm wrong about this), the possibility of a double-spend is tied to the ability of a someone who wants to perpetrate that getting the double spend into the blockchain.  Also, as far as I know, if this happened, people would complain and the main effect would be that confidence in the bitcoin "system" would be damaged.  However, if it happened relatively early, maybe not so many people would have heard about btc yet so maybe it would have been possible that such a double spend is somewhere early in the block chain.  Is this the case?  Am I totally off the mark?
10  Other / Off-topic / Flame War thread: fastbluff v sed on: July 23, 2014, 12:51:10 AM
Stop whining because you missed the reconfirmation pm. How did 99% of everyone else not have an issue, but of course there's always one that has to ruin it for everyone.

No dude.  You missed my reply to the reconfirmation thread and then you didn't want to pay me for posts made in the interim.

Also, your mom sucks.

Cheers!

I get the feeling that all these litecoin haters simply don't like it's long term adoption and stability.  They're all working so hard on their individual scamcoins and pump/dump schemes that it makes them angry that there's a top altcoin out there which isn't just a fly-by-nite joke.  Note that no one has to step up to defend litecoin to the haters because it just is.  These guys want a "dev team", that's just because they're out there hyping the "dev team" for their own scamcoins.  I don't want a "dev team", I just want a coin with stability.  Just my opinion.  I see nothing but haters in this thread.  Where's the actual problems with litecoins?
