1  Economy / Computer hardware / WTT ASIC EBIT 6.5 T W/PSU WILL TRADE FOR 2 RX580 8GB USA ONLY on: May 21, 2018, 05:37:01 AM
You give me the 2 580s, I give you the 6.5T ebang ebit asic, complete with psu and cord for USA 220 or 120 please specify. It runs pretty good, once in a while I walk by and the red light is on, just restart it, it clears. About once a month or so.
**** Important note - I don't want to take a beating on the shipping, obviously it's a lot cheaper to ship 2 gpus. I can  get a shipping estimate once I know where it's going. I still have the original box and Styrofoam packaging. I don't want to be bothered with any international shipping, so USA ONLY PLEASE. Seriously it's already complicated enough.

Will sell straight up for 650usd plus shipping,

2 rx580 8gb should only be around 650 usd. I'm embarrassed to tell you what I paid for this ASIC. Hint - it was December 2017. Spec is 910w. I could probably ebag it for 650-700 but then fees and whatnot would eat up a lot of that.

This will be my first transaction here, and I don't want to get beat, or ship the machine twice, but I'm willing to escrow 650 usd in btc, and upon receipt of the gpus, I will ship the ASIC. Once received and confirmed the escrow can release the btc back to me. You would also have to get the shipping $ to the escrow, once we work out the difference. I have no idea about escrow fees, if it's a lot we can split it, if it's a small amount I'll just pay it. I like phillipma, he's always been nice to me and answered all my noob questions without grinding me about it. I haven't asked him yet.

This was my first ASIC, and I'm actually very fond of it, I use it to test out new pools and new sha-256 coins like lcc or dgb without diverting too many Ts away from production. However, my electricity rates just went up 38% on 4/1, and after a few months it's apparent she needs a new home. I'm going to replace some of her earning power by putting 4 more 580s on the bamboo shoe rack rig. The 2 from you will be part of that.

She's a great starter kit, foot in the door, try it out before you start investing kdough. Experience for yourself the real life heat and noise! Thrill with every block your pool hits!

serious inquiries only please. No 570s.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / The bamboo shoe rack rig on: April 01, 2018, 02:49:57 AM
I was building a gpu rig, and the idea was to do what I can blow money on now, and have room to grow slowly as the money becomes available. The rig itself isn't much but check out the frame. I wanted to stay away from metal or other conductive materials because I think it's stupid to risk a loose wire shorting out everything. Plus I'm cheap.
I saw it on amazon and I was like "that can't be right". I  checked the measurements and it was too good to be true. I couldn't get the measure of the space between the slats but I took the total length divided by 2 and assumed that they were equidistant and equal to the width of the slats, which would make it ideal. Still too good to be true. But hey, 22 bucks, free shipping,  and if it doesn't work out I can stick it in the hall. It came. It's all true. Each space holds a card comfortably.

4  Economy / Marketplace / Who is Christopher Heymeyer and why does it matter? on: March 12, 2018, 08:39:21 PM
Christopher Heymeyer is the former head of the commodities traders association and current head of Heymeyer Trading and Heymeyer Capital Management LLC.
Why should we care? He's decided that cryptos are a commodity for trading purposes, and is now launching a new venture, Heymeyer crypto currency index fund. It's been approved by the National Futures Association and the Futures Trading Commission.  For institutional and accredited investors only, of course. That means you need a lot of money to be in the gang.
The fund owns no btc, or eth, not even a few bytecoins, they own nothing, no coins at all. What it does is trade on the overall price swings of the crypto currencies in the fund. They're starting with 8, btc, eth, monero, all the big money coins. The established already coins. The ones we are most likely to be hodling.
What's ironic is there's an organized fud campaign afoot to paint crypto as a dangerous economic bubble in dire need of government regulation. Meanwhile the other face is approving the creation of dangerous economic bubbles based on zero tangible assets. But that is perhaps tangential.
The real danger is the historical record of what tends to happen when government regulators join hands with their partners on Wall street. The small are crushed, the big money eliminates competition through burdensome regulations that smaller organizations and individuals cannot afford to comply with. Large institutions simply send the paperwork to whichever one of their departments handles that stuff. Their lobbyists make sure that this is so. Then it's off to the market manipulation races!
I'm not just ranting against the system,  I'm suggesting that you keep an eye on this fund, and others like the upcoming jp Morgan etf, and plan your own investments accordingly. Btc might have flown a little bit too high, too close to the sun. They see it now. Like a squirrel looking at the birdfeeder and rubbing his paws together, thinking, plotting. They noticed all that money and they missed it so far but now they want a piece. May they never succeed.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 1 8gb rx580 earnings = 2 T/Hs ASIC earnings in btc on: March 02, 2018, 05:01:09 PM
So phillipma57 who seems pretty smart said on another thread that gpus were more profitable. I thought that sounded kind of crazy, but I'm a noob, so I didn't say anything. That was probably about a month ago. A couple of days ago I was undecided what to do with my gpus after the zclassic snapshot, I had been on the donate pool for feb, so I put it on nicehash while I thought it over. I had never put my gpus there, but I was suprised at my earnings. I'm getting .0006688 a day on  four 8gb rx580s. That means each card is getting .0001672 btc per day.
My ASICs are doing about .00008361 per T/Hs per day. So multiply that by 2, and 2 T/Hs on my ASICs is .00016722 per day.

1 8gb 580 = .00016720
2 T/Hs ASIC = .00016722

I was way suprised. My 4 580s are earning the equivalent of 8 T/Hs on nh. I guess I just assumed that since you couldn't mine bitcoin with gpus anymore, that was that. So I'm not mining btc. But I still get it. That works. I'm adding the equivalent of 8 T/Hs to my small operation. I have to reconsider now my plan to expand my ASICs. This is giving me a lot to think about.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 3/1/2018 331 est walmart site has gpus on: March 01, 2018, 08:33:44 AM
I loaded up already, tipped a few friends, there seems to be plenty. I bought 8gb 580s for 313 free shipping. 1080t1s for 729.

have at it

you're welcome
7  Other / Meta / I HATE YOUR SIG CAMPAIGN, ALL OF THEM on: February 27, 2018, 02:31:37 PM
I wish we could get rid of them all. I hate the stupid huge banner when I'm reading. I hate the stupid posts and stupid threads written just to get sig views. I hate having to scroll down past them. I hate having them on the screen, blasts of useless eyecatching colors in between the posts I want to read. I hate having to try and decide if the poster is stupid, ignorant, in need of help, or just trying to earn a few satoshis.
 I hate hate HATE them.
Ban them all.
Forever.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Here's to Noobs. Chin up! You Rock. on: December 25, 2017, 09:26:11 PM
I know. Maybe you were a big fish at another pond, maybe you were never a forums type. And Now? Here we are. There are real Giants here, we Noobs walk among them, and we can't even trust who is who. And the Old School,  how annoying it must be for them. Their quiet forest bursting out of the winter and blooming in springtime,  and suddenly a million chattering trespassers, tracking mud and clouding the still waters with garbage,  and how can they tell who is real, and who will stick, and who really sucks? So maybe nobody treats us seriously,  maybe they're a bit sharp at times, so what. Face it, most of the people who post are here and gone, Googled/came here/asked/vanished. It's surprising that they answer as many as they do.
But don't worry! Us Noobs live lives full of Joys that are known only to us. We enjoy feelings and discoveries that they haven't felt in many years.
The purpose of this thread is to celebrate the joy of noobiness. Tell your story of Noob Greatness! That time you were all like "YES!"

Ok, I'm going to start it up.

So I got an s9 ordered but while I'm waiting I have a great pc because I'm a gamer from way back but I hardly ever play anymore (msi x99+/32g/ddr3/i7@350/watercooled) and it's money I spent awhile ago so I'm not counting it as an expense and I'm not going to even if I should because yeah.
Nhash was ok but it was easy. No real working pools/miners/coins. No .bat files. No .config.
Anywho I pointed a single 580 at ucrypto/etn just to check it out. Tweaked it to stable and walked away.
24 hours later.... Nothing!
I'm probably doing it wrong...
So I crashed before work, woke up....
Hit for 20etn right after I went to bed!
Again, right before I got up! 21 more!
Went to work, 2am, 20 more!
So, I'm doing it right I guess, gotta get both cards going,  take the time to get it set,  but hey, I has etn! And it went up .01!
I'm sooooooo on my way to greatness!

Have you also felt Noobs Triumph?
Tell it if you want to.  First time you hit "x" /s or x number of coins or whatever made you happy.
Cheers!
Here's to us!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A New Hope: Why are s9s so expensive or How I learned to stop worrying so much on: December 10, 2017, 05:51:11 AM
Hey, I'm new here, probably a screaming red thing that says that around here somewhere, that's cool, I'm not going to ask you for money or anything. I looked into bitcoin mining some months back, did the math, it seemed a bit dicey on the profit margin. Obviously that's changed. I wish I had pulled the trigger then but that's not especially helpful now. Did I miss it? Is it over? Will I ever see a boom like that again? Can I make it back and maybe a little extra for my time? Worry worry dither dither, Life is passing by.

I decided to go for it, but as you know.... I can no longer get $1600usd Antminer S9s. Because Resellers! They buy them up, they speculate on the market, they invest, they drive up the prices!!! Those turds!!!

Of course, after reflecting on things a little more cooly, it all begins to make a sort of sense that fills me with optimism and hope. It's economics 101, supply and demand, the free market, the invisible hand! Now let's spin that outward a bit.

Because guess what's happening in the real world markets! Investors! Bitcoin options, financial investment vehicles, real money. And of course, what that will do.

Investors will buy them up, they will speculate on the market, they will drive up the prices! I'm sure there will be corrections, and the inevitable shorts, but long term I see growth!

The future looks brighter, and all is right with the world. And Resellers aren't so bad after all.

So that's my thoughts if anyone cares.
Boosted my post count!
Cheers
