2  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Coldkey Cryptobond - 1st Time-locked physical Bitcoin on: February 11, 2021, 08:09:13 PM

Coldkey Cryptobond

Coldkey Cryptobonds are the first time-locked, non custodial, physical Bitcoins.
You and only you chose when they become spendable.

It makes a perfect instrument to plan Bitcoin savings.
Or a gift of an amount of Bitcoin to someone, that cannot be spent right away.

(More details on how they function at the bottom of this post)

Cryptobonds come in three denominations.

5mBTC :

10mBTC :

(Album with high resolutions pictures for all denominations of Cryptobonds)

These prototypes become valid after the 950,000th Bitcoin Block has been mined.
It's 5,000 blocks after the block #945,000, which is half way between the 4th and 5th Bitcoin Halving.
These prototypes mature roughly halfway between the next and the following halving.  Cool

More information about how Cryptobonds work :

Like every other Coldkey, Cryptobonds bear a private key under the hologram, it's associated BTC public address is present on the front.
We achieved to time-lock Bitcoins by creating a transaction using nLockTime, an obscure feature of Bitcoin.

The transaction code is the biggest QR code, on the front.
You will need to scan it and broadcast the code to the Bitcoin network when it has matured.

The Proof of Concept has been published on Bitcointalk : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5228739
A few test Cryptobonds were produced afterwards and sent to a handful of reputable Bitcointalk users for further testing of the concept.

Cryptobonds' locked transaction is specifically designed to be as leightweight as possible.
A single input and a single output, with a 5000 sats fee attached to the locked trasaction.
This is to make sure the transaction gets rapidly included in the blockchain when it became valid, many years from now.

About shipping :

The safety of your funds is among our top priorities.

When purchasing Cryptobonds on our website, you will be asked for a refund Bitcoin address that you control.
We will make the regular time-locked transaction for your Cryptobond;
and another one, non-time locked, which will spend the locked funds to your BTC address.

If the parcel goes missing, we will execute the 2nd transaction so you retrieve the funding directly.
This step is to ensure the safety of funds during transit exclusively; the refund transactions are to be purged timely upon proper reception.

Availibility : Soon !

Time-lock duration : Chosen by the customer.

Serialization : CRYPTOBOND-<denom>.<serial>
<denom> is either "1M", "5M" or "10M".
<serial> starts with 1 and goes up incrementally.

Price : 50 € per Coldkey Cryptobond, regardless of denomination.
Funding must be provided on top of the price, in the form of BTC.
(We will require an amount of BTC slightly higher than the denomination in order to cover the transaction and the 5000 sats fees per Cryptobond.)

Notice : It is not possible to reserve a card on the forum.
Please do not PM me in that regards.

If you have any question about our Coldkeys or a suggestion, it will be a pleasure to answer to you ! Smiley

This collection of items allows you to remember at what price the crypto was,
and compare how much 50€ worth of BTC means on the day you look at your History Coldkey. Smiley
In a few months, years...

From now on, this serie will feature a few different aspects :

Bitcoin and Alts :
We are happy to extend the History Coldkey serie to a handful of alts for now. Smiley
Alongside Bitcoin, you can now chose among Litecoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Dash, Peercoin, and Chainlink.

Serialization :
The Serials for this release will be made that way :

(250€ January 2021 BTC History Coldkey)

Availability :

4  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Buyer Funded BTC Coldkeys - First release on: December 22, 2020, 11:39:10 PM

Buyer Funded BTC Coldkeys

>> GET YOURS NOW <<

The Buyer Funded Bitcoin Coldkey is a great way to store some BTC physically.
It is not denominated and is intended to be used as a physical cold storage wallet.

Design is based on our previous release of BTC Loaded Coldkeys, the major difference is the color.
This one is greyscale, and is not denominated.
Instead of the denomination, we can read “BUYER FUNDED”.
These Coldkeys bear a UV design that complements very well the layout itself.

100 of them are prepared and available as of now.
(50 are available as singles, and there is 10 bundles of 5 priced as 4 of them)

For this release, the serialization is BTC-BF1.<serial>.
The pictures show a "BTC-UL1.0" serial, but BF (Buyer Funded) is better as UL (UnLoaded).
BF1 stands for Buyer Funded 1 and means it is the first one of this kind being released.
This serie is not limited in quantity.

When sold out, we will prepare another batch and put it up for sale, starting from #101 to #200 and so on ...

When we will renew our design for this serie, the serial will change to BTC-BF2.<serial> and will start again from #1. Somehow, this serie availibility is limited through time.
(not sure for how long but we won't change this layout for the upcoming months)

Here is a preview of the UV features :

>> GET YOURS NOW <<

Available for sale now are serials #1 through #100.

You can request a serial number in the “Additional notes” but we make no promise that you will get the requested serial number.

(If you are a subscriber to the History Coldkey serie, the serial you are getting is guaranteed to be reserved for you only for the History Coldkey serie, otherwise we fulfil orders on a first-come first served basis)

The pricing is 30€ per unit.

6  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN/WTS]3rd Halving Coldkey - Copper variant avail - Gold/Silver/Copper variant on: July 16, 2020, 12:30:27 AM

3rd Halving Coldkey

Hello everyone !
I'm happy and proud to announce to you our latest Collectible release.

Bitcoin 3rd Halving Commemorative Coldkeys

We've been working on this release for quite a while.
This release was supposed to happen already some time ago;
but as you know, our operation has suffered some delays due to the sanitary crisis.

We had this idea back then during a chat with Krogoth.
I had some ideas for a Halving Coldkey and Krogoth came up with great ideas as well so we decided to collaborate for this run.
With his help, we could make it happen as it is. Smiley
Thank you very much Krog !

Anyway, we think now is the right time to announce it !

(High definition album)

This idea is all about the Halving that happened, bringing the Bitcoin block rewards from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC.

This release consists of 128 sets, each one loaded with 0.0125 in total. One set is made of two Coldkeys and each one is loaded with 0.00625BTC.
A huge THANK YOU to Lucho Poletti who designed the perfect artwork for this release.
With that idea to split a symbolic amount of BTC in two.

With Bitcoin, we are slowly getting towards an inflation rate that will be one of the tiniest on Earth.
This release is a tribute to a special time when Bitcoin became scarcer.

This release is made of 128 sets.
Each set comes with two Coldkeys, each Coldkey is individually loaded with 0.00625BTC.

Serialization comes as follow :

#1 - #21 are Gold sets. (21 sets)
#22 - #64 are Silver sets. (43 sets)
#65 - #128 are Copper sets. (64 sets)

6 AP (.AP1 to .AP6) sets exists and have been distributed among people involved in the project.

(Gold set next to a Silver set)

Each individual Coldkey is serialized with HALVING3-L or R.<SERIAL>.
The L or R letter represents the Left and the Right Coldkey, regarding the artwork.

For the Gold and Silver sets, every public address starts with bc1qhalved.
Also, each of these Coldkeys have been funded in the block #630,001; right after it halved.

The Copper sets will be funded in future blocks.

(Silver set next to a Copper set)

A video with more detailed views of a Gold set : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7ictjvVJp0

Some more pics :

(Silver set back and front)

Distribution :

The 21 Gold sets are going to be auctioned soon by Krogothmanhattan.
Silver sets and Copper sets are going to be sold at retail after the auction has ended.

Thank you very much for looking ! Smiley
We welcome any question or feedback about this release.
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How to initially sync Bitcoin as fast as possible on: May 05, 2020, 06:38:41 PM
Hey there,

Lately I have jammed my Bitcoin Core full node blockchain.
Don't ask why, I am not sure what happened. It was txindexed etc ...

When I tried to open it again, there was something wrong about the index, so I went on with provided instructions.
At some point I realized that the folder with the data weights a mere 100's of MBs : all blockchain data was gone.
I have good practices when it comes to handle crypto funds, so they were not at risk even in the case of total deletion of that bitcoin folder.

I have another full node on a server, but can't access the HDD.
I started zipping the blockchain directory on my server, to download it afterwards, but that also is very time extensive.

I need a full node to work with.
Syncing can take days, if not weeks.
Based on my trials, luckily there are a couple options / settings / things you can do to enhance the synchronization speed.

1) Don't put your "bitcoin folder" on an external drive.
The input/output speed of the external device is a bottleneck and BTC will take ages to sync that way.
I use a HDD rack to easily swap drives when needed. I hold this kind of data (blockchains) on drives I swap at need.
Despite the rack receiver being wired to my motherboard with a SATA cable, when I used it as the data directory for Bitcoin Core, the speed for synchronization was insanely slow.
I ended up using an HDD that is directly wired to my motherboard with SATA, cutting out every interface.

2) Have lots of RAM.
I'm lucky to have 32Gb RAM on my Desktop computer.
There is an option in bitcoin.conf called dbcache.
By default, it limits the usage of RAM for Bitcoin Core and leave enough for the rest of your processes.
I put 24GB as an option here. I am only syncing up on that computer for now.

While looking at the resources manager, I noticed that the Bitcoin Core process took up to 12GB in RAM.

3) Have a fast connection.
I'm lucky : I have a 1Gb fiber connection.
My RAM was filling up with raw block data, then Bitcoin Core processed it.

In the end, it took ~20hr to fully sync from scratch. It was on a Windows machine.
It was indicating an average speed of 12% progress per hour, which makes it ~8hr.
As I need the txindex, the data displayed on Bitcoin Core wasn't changing but the index files were created by the process : it didn't crash despite the info displayed remains still.

A few observations :
- Launch the initial sync and let it sync all the way through.
I noted that if you close Bitcoin Core and launch it later to keep syncing, the speed will drastically reduce.

- Sometimes it seems like the process crashed because nothing is happening.
As long as it didn't give an error that it crashed indeed, your Bitcoin Core client might simply be writing data to the disk, which doesn't impact the displayed data.

- Weirdly, in my case syncing was faster on Windows than on Linux.  Shocked

Thanks for reading.
If you have any other advice, please share them. Smiley
8  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Coinfest UK 2020 "POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19" Commemorative Coldkey on: April 01, 2020, 09:00:55 PM

Coinfest UK 2020 Commemorative Coldkey
POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

It is with a lot of mixed feelings that I introduce to you our latest release, in the spirit of an April Fool's joke.
(As always, our pics do not justice to our Coldkeys.)

>> GET YOURS NOW <<

COINFEST UK 2020 HAS BEEN POSTPONED !
The reason has been unforeseen : a pandemic of COVID-19.
There will most definitely be a “before” and “after” SARS-CoV.
Within a few days from now, many of us would have been gathering in Manchester to attend Coinfest UK 2020.

For the occasion, we have prepared a Coinfest UK 2020 commemorative Coldkey.
Due to the circumstances, we decided to release it today, with a clear mention of the pandemic that is cracking down world-wide.

We will make another release bearing the same design but without the mention of the pandemic.
It will be available at Coinfest UK, the event will take place in November 2020.

This is an unloaded Bitcoin wallet that you can use to store Bitcoin offline.

Mintage limited to 100.
Shipping starts on the 6th of April.
Some have been reserved for Coinfest UK giveaways and raffles.
The price per Coinfest UK 2020 "COVID-19" Coldkey is 29.9€
Limit of 5 cards per customer.

https://www.newyorkfed.org/markets/domestic-market-operations/monetary-policy-implementation/repo-reverse-repo-agreements/repurchase-agreement-operational-details

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2020/3/13/21178457/1-5-trillion-stimulus-loan-fed-federal-reserve

10  Local / Hors-sujet / A quoi ça rime le bitcointalk on: March 14, 2020, 05:45:01 PM
Question : "Hors-sujet", c'est la foire ?

@Yaplatu : Ca t'amuse tant que ça que d'être hors-sujet 95% du temps ?

Aujourd'hui, il existe beaucoup de manières et d'instruments pour que vous bloquiez vos monnaies fiduciaires durant des décennies;

("smart-contract")
L'ensemble des données sur la Coldkey va vous permettre de récupèrer vos fonds, dès que le verrou temporel expire;

Vous pouvez dépenser vos fonds à l'adresse de votre choix, et les garder;

12  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN/PoC] Coldkey Cryptobond - FIRST Timelocked Physical Bitcoin on: February 26, 2020, 11:34:44 PM

Coldkey Cryptobonds

I am proud to introduce to you our latest development.
Behold Cryptobonds !

(This is on an A4 sheet only for the Proof of Concept)

What are Cryptobonds ?

Cryptobonds are loaded Coldkeys with a time lock.
It means that you cannot spend the BTC that is stuck in the Coldkey before a certain predefined time.

Today, many ways and instruments exists to let you to lock your fiat away;
people end up trusting incorporated entities with their money, their life savings, their blood, sweat and tears.
I truly hope for them that this entity's name isn't the next Lehman Brothers.

How do Cryptobonds work ?

Everything has been algorithmicaly set in stones on the blockchain.
All the data on the Coldkey will allow you to retrieve your funds, when the timelock expires;
if BTC keeps on running in the future as it did during these last 10 years, as I see it.

We used a Bitcoin feature called "nLockTime" in order to bring Cryptobonds to you.

Just to state the obvious, we do not keep any private key.
Neither the one that's been used to sign the Locked Transaction, neither the one on the Coldkey.

How do I spend my Cryptobond ?

There is one big QR code holding the data of a transaction that is locked until a certain date.
Once the timelock has expired, Cryptobond owners need to scan the big QR and broadcast the transaction code on the Bitcoin network.
This is how you activate it.
(Many, many, many ways to do so exists today already.)

At that moment, the transaction will be included in the blockchain, so the Cryptobond Public Address will receive the coins.
Afterwards, you will be able to send the funds to any address of your choice by using the Private key, as with every other Physical Bitcoin.

We will publish more detailed instructions very soon.

Does it work ?

Yes indeed !
If you want, you can check the tracks of my experimentation with the Cryptobond PoC in the BTC blockchain.
For further review, I am happy to make a few Cryptobonds and send them to a handful members.

Here is the list of users I want to send a 1st Test Cryptobond to :
- krogothmanhattan
- minerjones
- Lesbian Cow
- ChiBitCTy
- Sat0shisGhost
- owlcatz
- Jcga

(I will be in touch with each of you very soon to send you one)

I think I'll use a different time/date for the different test Cryptobonds; to offer the possibility to experiment further.

13  Economy / Collectibles / [3hr~ / AUCTION] Polymerbit 10th Year of Bitcoin TEST note (Keys position test) on: February 20, 2020, 06:09:51 PM
Welcome to this auction for a one-of-a-kind Polymerbit note ! Smiley

This is the note I have used last year before starting the production.
We needed to make sure that everything was rolling out well before doing the batch.

It is numbered A000.
For the record, there is a printing error on this note, which led us to completely overhaul a part of the whole process.

It may seem like a detail, but that shadow/reprint of characters on the border isn't supposed to be here :

The winner will receive the note as is, duly protected, with the extra border.

18  Other / Archival / [POLL] Vote for your favourite design -- Bitcointalk 10th Anniversary Coldkey on: November 18, 2019, 01:11:55 PM

Hello everyone !
(This poll is held in Ivory Tower to prevent any form of abuse from low ranked members. It expires in 5 days and will be moved to Archival once finished.)

Local rule : Please keep this thread only about the poll itself.
All the general questions about the contest should be adressed in this thread.

Vote now for your favorite design !

For the upcoming 10th anniversary of Bitcointalk, we imagined something special to commemorate this event.

We have organized a contest in Meta for a few weeks. We will produce special commemorative Coldkey wallets.
The point was for users to submit designs that remind them of Bitcointalk.

We have narrowed down the list of entries to 9 different designs; they are being presented in this thread.

The entry with the most votes will be displayed on these commemorative Coldkeys.
There are prizes to win for the top 3 entries with the most votes !

Made on Bitcointalk.org, by Bitcointalk.org users, for Bitcointalk.org. Smiley

This special Coldkey will be available for purchase during one month (for one month from the day after the poll ends) without limits in quantities.
They will be serialized and embossed.
We will keep the first & lowest 10 serials for a further auction. 100% of this auction proceedings will go to Charities. *

If you don't know about it, let me quickly present Coldkey to you : it is a secure physical cold storage wallet in the form of a card.
We have announced the project in the Collectibles section back in April, since then we have released three different series.

* : maybe split between several ones. Thinking of the Bitcointalk Charity Program, Free Ross, Save the Bees, Sean's Outpost.

Contestants are sorted by the time of their submission.
Designs presented here may slightly differ from the final version that is going to be produced.

In case where some contestants end up winning ex-aequo, we will assign hex digits to them and proceed to a raffle by announcing a yet-too-be-found block number.
The last digit of the block hash with pick the winner.

Best of luck to every contestant left !
Thank you very much for participating with your vote !! Smiley

20  Other / Meta / [CONTEST](NOW SELLING) 10 years of Bitcointalk commemorative Coldkey on: October 25, 2019, 08:37:00 AM

The release is now listed for sale on our website !
For more info, please visit :
>> https://www.coldkey.eu/product/10th-anniversary-of-bitcointalk-commemorative-coldkey/  <<

EDIT : The poll is now over !! Check the winners list !
More news on this post.

Hello everyone !

For the upcoming 10th anniversary of Bitcointalk, we imagined something special to commemorate this event.

Artists are solicited a lot lately with the ongoing art contest.
Coldkey is a new brand, we do not have much BTC or Merits to offer, but still, let's make a cool physical item that will be widely accessible;
so everybody can hold onto a memorabilia of when Bitcointalk entered it's 10th year of existence. Smiley

It will be a fully functional, not loaded, secure physical cold storage wallet, with the design of the winner.
We will be offering it at a competitive price to make it possible for everyone here to hold their own 10th years of Bitcointalk collectible item.
(Unfortunately, to lower our retail prices we need to pass on the UV for this release)
Made on Bitcointalk.org, by Bitcointalk.org users, for Bitcointalk.org. Smiley

This special Coldkey will be available for purchase during one month (from 22nd of November until 22nd of December) without limits in quantities.
Of course, they will be serialized and embossed; we will keep the first & lowest 10 serials for a further auction.
100% of this auction proceedings will go to Charities. *

What is it all about ?

If you don't know about it, let me quickly present Coldkey to you : it is a secure physical cold storage wallet in the form of a card.
We have announced the project in the Collectibles section back in April, since then we have released three different series.

(Our latest collaborative (with 1Dq) release, the History Coldkey)

You can find more informations about our cold storage wallets on our website : https://www.coldkey.eu ;
or on the different ANN threads we made for each serie :
(Genesis Edition, Bitcoin Coldkeys and History Coldkeys)

What about the contest then ?

Right !

We think it would be awesome to create a Bitcointalk.org anniversary commemorative item with a design that comes directly from our community.
This is the reason for this contest. Let's make a Bitcointalk.org item together !

At the end of the contest, a poll will be organized to pick the winning design. (16th to 21th of November)
The winner gets the main prize and contestants making it to 2nd and 3rd place will be rewarded as well.

Contest rules :
- Make a design for a Coldkey that reminds you of Bitcointalk.org.
- It must be your original artwork.
- An entry is a front and a back. Please submit both.
- Dimensions are 54x86mm.
- Any design with some NSFW element will be automatically disregarded.
- You can submit multiple artworks, but please keep them all within ONE single post.
- Due to various reasons, we reserve the right to pick the submissions that will make it to the poll.
- We reserve the right to disqualify any user from the contest, at our sole discretion.

You can project the space for some elements on the design (like the QR codes), but if you don't we will always find a way to fit everything on the Coldkey.
(Do not focus too much on positioning the elements; however a 22x22mm space will be used on the back by our hologram.)

Please submit your designs on this thread.

Deadline : 15th November 2019 11:59pm Paris time.
(Countdown timer : https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20191115T235959&p0=195&font=cursive)

Prize list :

1st Prize : 4x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 4x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey +
 4x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey + 1x Genesis Edition Coldkey

2nd Prize : 2x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 2x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 2x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey

3rd Prize : 1x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey +  1x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 1x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey

(Funding for prizes is provided and is part of the prize)

Thank you very much for reading and considering to take part in our contest.
We are equally impatient and curious to see your art pieces, and very excited at the idea of making a Bitcointalk.org item. Smiley

(Please keep this thread clean, it is only for the purpose of the contest. If you want to, comment the project on our ANN thread)
