22  Economy / Trading Discussion / Safe way to sell hardware on Ebay? on: November 10, 2013, 11:00:08 AM
I keep hearing people say dont sell with Ebay but I have not heard from someone who has actually had a charge back happen.
Is there a safe way to mining hardware on Ebay without the risk of a charge back? Im thinking that I make a video of me showing the machine working, being packed, and provide a tracking number? I have been told that paypal will not accept a video or pictures, has anyone run into this problem?
23  Economy / Goods / FS: Safe Cell Bags (iPhone) on: October 31, 2013, 10:42:32 AM
I currently have a small stock of Safe Cell Bags on hand and would like to introduce them to the community at an intro price. The Safe Cell Bag helps protect your privacy and health. This is a project that I was working on quite a few years ago (2008). At this time I can only provide one size that fits the iPhone, if we start to get some good feedback we have plans to make several sizes including bags for tablets. All units are manufactured in the USA.

Safe Cell Bag Overview

Your Safe Cell Bag uses exotic shielding materials to protect you from electromagnetic radiation.
In the technologically-centered world of today, the convenience of cell phones has become an essential part of life.  However, there are side effects of cell phone technology that  are not fully understood.

Scientific evidence of the risk of brain damage, infertility, tumor growth and behavioral problems in children has been increasing.   How can we reduce the risk of using a cell phone, while still carrying one with us?  The solution is the Safe Cell Bag.

What does the Safe Cell Bag do?  It provides a way to shield your phone and choose whether you want to receive calls and messages or not.  When you open the bag up, you will see two pockets.  There is an inner pocket, where the special shielding fabric is enclosing the entire cell phone.  And there is an outer pocket, where the shielding fabric is only on one side of the cell phone, with the unshielded bag material forming the other side.

The inner pocket, when closed securely with the shielding fabric folding over itself and the velcro attached, creates a Faraday Cage where the phone is electrically separated from any and all outside connections.  This means that your phone cannot receive or make any calls, text messages and your phone can't be located by the network, even when it is turned on inside the bag. Simply remove the phone from the bag, and wait for the phone to make connection with the closest cell tower, and you will be able me make and receive calls and texts.  It eliminates the long wait from turning the phone off and on, while at the same time assures your phone is completely safe and separated from all connections.

The outer pocket provides a way to continue to receive calls and texts, while creating a shielding barrier on one side of the bag. This means that you can position the bag to keep the shielded part in between your body and the active phone, keeping the phone from radiating your body while the phone remains connected to the network and you can receive calls as usual.   Either way you use the bag, you will be greatly reducing the exposure to the radiation you get from keeping the phone near your body while in standby mode, waiting to make or receive calls.

Other concerns about using cell phones involve the likelihood that your phone can be accessed without your permission.  This kind of security breach means that all of your contacts and communication records that are contained in the memory of the phone could fall into the hands of identity thieves and criminals.   It also means that your mobile device could be infected with a virus or other malicious code.

Especially since the newer phones can hold hundreds of contact listings, access the entire internet while sending & receiving email, the possibility that your phone could be targeted has greatly increased.  And unfortunately many people just aren't aware of the increased risks to their privacy their mobile phone creates.

By keeping the phone in the inner pocket of the Safe Cell Bag, you can be assured that no one can access your phone, period.   This is perfect to use in a Wi-Fi hotspot or when in any public location.  This also means no more unexpected calls interrupting your important meeting or embarrassing you in a public quiet place.

Not everyone understands how to use all the features of their phone, such as how to disable their bluetooth or change the default password.  However, everyone who has a cell phone, and especially the blue-tooth enabled phones, is at risk of having their data stolen, calls made without their knowledge, calls listened in on or broken into or of being spied on by their phones turned into a bug.  With all of these risks, you still can have peace of mind by combing the Safe Cell Bag with a smart phone security practice, and avoid these dangers.

Currently I have a stock of about 100 pe-packaged units for distribution. I am asking a one time price of $35usd with free shipping either in Paypal or BTC.

We are looking for feedback about this product. Please PM me about orders and feel free to ask questions here.

24  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / OC/Mods BFL singles? on: October 28, 2013, 01:20:47 AM
I have been poking around but I cant really find anything specific on the subject. Are people over clocking BFL singles? I have seen some people modding the fans and putting new PSU's but I haven't found anything talking about re-flashing or over clocking these little suckers. Any tips on improving performance would be greatly appreciated.

26  Economy / Scam Accusations / Beware of user avalonlove on: October 27, 2013, 08:10:42 PM
The user avalonlove registered his account today shortly after his 3rd post he contacted me about a WTB ad I have in the marketplace. He was offering me a few Avalon rigs for 2.5BTC each. After I told him that I was interested only if he could provide proof of ownership and if we use JohnK escrow. He never replied to my offer and almost immediately posted an ad in the market place for the same units. After he posted his ad I contacted him again asking if he was still trying to sell me the units and still no reply. I also noticed that he is asking for a loan for nearly the same amount he was requesting for the units. Seems fishy to me, just be warned and only do trades using escrow.  Wink

I would like to build a LTC and have about 5-6btc to invest. Could you guys help me get a rig up and running for that budget? Is this just the worst idea ever? I think it will be a fun project to build and at least the gpu's can be resold a a reasonable price if I decide to give it up.
31  Other / Off-topic / A shove in the rite direction... on: October 01, 2013, 11:31:49 PM
So I am completely new to Debian the only knowledge I do have is very limited so some raspi projects. That being said I have recently built a Linux box form an old windows desktop that has been sitting idol in my office for some time. My intentions are to use this build to manage my torrents and share media with the other users in my network. I have decided to run either Gnome or Kweezy. I am wondering if some of you can point me to some resources that could help me with this project. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I have been hitting a wall in my Google searches.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Namecoin actually being used for anything significant? on: September 27, 2013, 03:58:10 PM
As my Namecoin purse gets larger Im wondering, is Namecoin actually being used for anything significant? I know I can trade them for BTC but that seems lame. It just seems that nothing has really been done up to this point to further the project. Is anyone doing something worth looking into with Namecoin or should I just keep letting this stash get larger till some major developments are made?  Huh
