1  Economy / Exchanges / Anyone Scammed With WhaleClub.co? on: December 30, 2017, 03:45:32 AM
Recently, all of a sudden my account on Whaleclub.co had no money.  I contacted customer support on whaleclub.co, and they told me that they “force liquidated” my holdings.  I asked them why, and they gave me a reason that didn’t make sense at all.  They have refused to return my money which is worth around $2,000.
I know that their reason didn’t make sense as I have been trading investments for 22 years and have an MBA in Finance.   I know how trading works as I have been doing it daily.

The conversation I had with screenshots is available- just let me know by PM.  After some research, I found that whaleclub.co has been scamming people for years.  Below is a sample of some people who have been scammed on WhaleClub.co (there are many other examples too):

With the increased interest in cryptocurrencies and Bitcoins, many more people are getting their money stolen from WhaleClub.co .  I plan to continue to pursue my complaint until my money is returned or their website is taken down.  This website has continuously stolen people’s money and continues to.  I will be putting reviews on social media which I’m very active on to create awareness.
If you have lost money, I would ask that you post your complaint to their domain registry services:

https://www.cloudflare.com/abuse/
https://publicdomainregistry.com/report-abuse-complain/

They do have the authority to block their website from appearing on the Internet.  I am trying to let everyone who lost money on WhaleClub to post their experiences this weekend.  If they get enough complaints (especially in a short span of time), they have to take action.  Maybe then whale club will return our money or at least not scam other people.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  For all of our sake, please post your experiences to these two websites this weekend.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Moving From Bread Wallet on: December 22, 2017, 02:21:55 PM
I am trying to switch from the Bread android app wallet for Bitcoins to Electrum.  I have had problems with sending coins to anyone else with the Bread Wallet.  My money is stuck there for now  Cry

I sent some Bitcoins to an exchange from the Bread App.  It shows as being 40% sent now for over a day.  The exchange has not received it.  I have tried to accelerate the transaction, but no luck.

I wanted to please ask the following:
-Since the coins are still in limbo, should I import or sweep my bitcoin address/private key to Electrum?

-From what I was reading I can generate the private key using this the following instructions from the following post from HCP on this forum.  BTW, thank you HCP for this info!

Quote
Breadwallet uses "standard" BIP39 seeds... https://iancoleman.github.io/bip39/
Enter your seed where is says "BIP39 Mnemonic", click "BIP32" under "Derivation Path", select "Custom" from the "Client" dropdown box... and enter m/0'/0 in the Derivation Path and all your receive addresses and private keys will be generated below.

Are the instructions still OK to get the private key ?

-Do I just need to enter the private key I generated from the above website into Electrum by going to wallet-private keys-sweep?  I do not enter the Bitcoin address from Bread into Electrum or just the private key?

-Has anyone ever tried something like this, maybe from a different wallet (especially interested in moving from Bread)?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crazy ICO or Crazy Me? on: December 19, 2017, 12:30:46 AM
I was looking to purchase an ICO at a discount.  The more I look into different offers, the more I see that things may be a scam- similar websites, over seas, similar advertisements.  It seems easy to raise millions.  In fact, now every ICO to me looks like a scam.  I don't want to miss out, but of course don't want to be scammed.

Has anyone noticed the same?  Has anyone invested money in an ICO and actually received valuable coins out of it?  If so, which website help you find it?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Basic Question About Crypto Wallets on: December 17, 2017, 04:20:41 PM
I installed a Android wallet called Bread.  It works great and currently doesn't have any money on it.

I wanted to transfer my account  to Electrum.  So when I set up Electrum, I clicked on import key and used my address from Bread which has no money (as a test)   Now, it appears to work- which actually concerns me Grin

It appears to me that anyone can get your wallet money as long as they have your address.  Is that right?  It doesn't sound right to me as when you send money to anyone that would get the address you are sending it from- so anyone can steal anyone's bitcoins.  What am I missing?
