181  Other / Off-topic / Celebration when Bitcoin prize hits 4200$ on: August 18, 2014, 12:54:07 PM
We all are supposed to know that 420 is holy to bitcoiners - I didn't     But, Add a zero, it still is
(refer https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=327180.0 )

Satoshi made the highest number of bitcoins 21M with 50 blocks because 210000/50=4200.

So how are you guys planning to celebrate it when the price hits 4200$?

NOTE: Price has already breached its 10%

183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I can't claim Stellar :( on: August 11, 2014, 05:28:37 AM

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoins - Which are the best? on: August 08, 2014, 04:50:10 AM
There are thousands of altcoins out there.

But Which of them are you confident about?
On which you will put your money into and hold it?
Why do you think so?

Can you select the best altcoins in the market?

Eg. DOGE, DRK, Stellar , ...

187  Other / Beginners & Help / Secure your account on: April 01, 2014, 02:41:23 PM
I survived inputs.io hack, mtgox and now coinbase. (my loss less than 10% of my holdings) Here is what i do to secure an account:

I use just a complex password. no app, no 2FA, no nothing
My email address cannot be hacked using forgot my password. (even i don't remember that)
make sure u get into the real site
don't use same username or password for a trusted site and an untrusted site
use different complex password for email and other important accounts
passwords may be similar to you but inguessable for a hacker

Split your btc among different services.

188  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin price is likely to reach new highs around April end on: March 28, 2014, 06:59:32 AM
Bitcoin price has been plunging because speculators are waiting for a positive or negative news about bitcoin. Lately, all the news was negative and prices of everything is going down. When you sell all your bitcoins, it is very likely that you buy them soon. WHat will you do with all that dollars? They are just waiting for it to go low and to buy them back at the first chance before a huge price jump.

But in a week and Surely after April 15, prices are expected to spike up.

The ride will be bumpy.

I suggest you not to sell your bitcoin merely because the market is slightly bearish. However, most of the bad news is over. Prices will go up once there is a good poisitive news about bitcoin (like Mtgox restarting its service)

Most of the altcoins will go down, while some major coins like DOGE, AUR, MZC and a few others will survive. LTC will go up.

I suggest you to wait... Meanwhile, markets will be highly volatile and responsive to latest news. Prices will not fall less than 450. But it can go up to around 800 in 2 weeks.

Prices depend on the big whales. You can't predict when or where. There is an "hide order" option available in many exchanges.
Remember price went up from 130$ to 1000$? I sold some at 300 when everyone shouted it is the peek, can't go up more...

Prices can go very high when market is highly bullish, when there are almost no sell orders

These are just how I view it.

What is your view??

189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mazacoin : Why little interest? on: March 09, 2014, 03:27:15 AM
I am really surprised.
Why AUR became popular so fast? and Mazacoin with no risk of banning or anything not so popular??

AUR just went up to 0.046 while MZC dropped to 0.00003 ?
the thing is that Iceland government will most likely go against the currency while MZC have no such risk.

MZC attracted media coverage just like AUR.

Is it bcoz, investors got into AUR first and had nothing left to invest in MZC?
Or they are planning to invest in MZC after the airdrop?
Or bcoz of exaggerated marketcap due to premined coins

Would it have been successful if it came before Auroracoin?

Edit: found another thread with similar topic

Usual Disclosure: I own a little MZC, no AUR, and BTC and various altcoins
MZC is just a tiny fraction of my altcoins. The reason I bought is the same as above. I am not asking you to put your money into it or anything.

I just want to know whether I missed out anything

Also why is 42coin trading at 95 BTC a coin? Not even 2 coins exist!
Should i sell or hold? Plz advice

191  Economy / Service Discussion / UPDATE: MtGox OFFLINE (good news) on: February 25, 2014, 07:00:16 AM
MtGox had halted trading and now is offline!!

“Gox is the worst-run business in the history of the world”
–Roger Ver, bitcoin advocate

Bitcoin Exchange Mt. Gox Goes Offline Amid Allegations of $350 Million Hack
http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2014/02/bitcoins-mt-gox-implodes/

Prices went down to 420$ as of writing this in other exchanges.

Prices are expected to go back to the previous level in a few weeks.

Shutting down of MtGox is actually a good news bcoz it always disreputed bitcoin.
192  Economy / Economics / UPDATE: MTGOX QUITS BITCOIN FOUNDATION on: February 24, 2014, 09:11:02 AM
Mtgox quits bitcoin foundation.

Mt.Gox prices are going crazy...

First it went down to 150 then up to 180 then dancing around...

It is good for the Bitcoin overall.

But I don't understand why people thing MtGox won't survive this??

Their deletion of twitter posts, etc. may mean they are undergoing a massive restructuring or rebranding or anything...

HOWEVER, I THINK THOSE WHO ARE BUYING BITCOINS FROM MTGOX IS GOING TO MAKE SOME GOOD PROFITS AFTER IT REENABLES THE WITHDRAWALS...

500$ for every bitcoin bought...

193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ALL CRYPTOS FALLING... on: February 21, 2014, 07:27:13 AM
First 17 crypto currencies have recorded losses in the last 24 hours.

Bitcoins price on Mtgox lowest at 91.50$  Now in 120s

(I WISH I HAD SOME DOLLARS AT MTGOX !!!)

Is this because of MtGox? latest update: https://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/20140220-Announcement.pdf
Is it safe to buy into most of the altcoins?
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why dogecoin is awesome on: February 19, 2014, 10:27:41 AM
No other cryptocoin has succeeded in becoming popular in just 2 months. Dogecoin got a market capitalization of $ 70,920,332.

Such community
Got an excellent community back up who is doing great.
More and more businesses accepting dogecoins... Random wonderful tipping...

Much fund raising...
"A week after raising more than $30,000 to help fund the Jamaican bobsled team’s trip to Sochi, the Dogecoin community has stepped up with nearly $7,000 in donations of the meme-themed virtual currency to help send three athletes from India to the 2014 Games."

Dogecoin tackled inflation by making supply unlimited...

So unique!

No other coin does all that, right?

Of course we shibes aren't against bitcoin or any other currency. We just are a fun loving tipping community. And profits just don't matter anymore

WOW!!

Edit: The author hold some dogecoins and also BTC, UNO, 42, CASH, DVC, DGC, MEOW, PPC and many more

195  Economy / Economics / I wish i could take advantage of the Mtgox withdrawal issue on: February 07, 2014, 08:47:37 AM
Unforunately, my money is in bitcoins and dogecoins.

Now, mtgox had stopped all bitcoin withdrawals temporarily to resolve an issue and traders who needed a reason for buying and selling took the opportunity because some who need money immediately had to sell their bitcoins and withdraw them.

The problem is only at mtgox and is slightly reflected in other exchanges.

How do i take advantage of this temporary crash??

And since dogecoin is nearing its first halving i don't really want to sell them. I have some btc though and a little in mtgox as usd
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dogecoin: Why does infinite supply matter? on: February 04, 2014, 12:52:57 AM
I saw a recent drop in price of dogecoin @ cryptsy. Why is that??

I came across the following:

"boyter 1 day ago | link

The thing is its actually less inflation then Bitcoin or Litecoin at least for the next few years anyway. See the following (taken from reddit thread) which shows the inflation amount over the next 5 year period.
        Dogecoin Bitcoin Litecoin
  2015   5.26%    10%    33.33%
  2016   5%     9.09%    12.5%
  2017   4.76%    4.1%    11.11%
  2018   4.54%    4%    10%
  2019   4.35%    3.85%    9.09%
  2020   4.2%    3.7%    4.1%
People need to keep in mind that dogecoin's inflation is set at 10,000 coins per block forever once mined out. As such the inflation amount will reduce each year as more coins exist, unless of course people manage to loose about 5 billion coins a year. The other thing to remember is dogecoin currently has about 5% inflation a week, so anyone dumping it over this news is a bad speculator.
EDIT before someone jumps down my throat I am checking the numbers now and the bitcoin one looks to be slightly off, please take this as close, but not exact please. If you have the exact numbers pass them on and I will update.
reply"

I dont see that a problem. 10k a block after it is mined out. So still it is better right? So supply is infinite but is highly restricted. So why the huge sell off??
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dogecoin: should i buy more?? on: February 04, 2014, 12:32:27 AM
After looking up reddit, bitcointalk and other sites, i got the following facts:

Halving will happen around 12th Feb

0.00000159 BTC/DOGE
Last trade price on bter.com

1200.415   ( 80 to 115 GH/sec)
Current difficulty

85409
Blocks in chain

And 42.5 Billion coins mined already... ie. 42.5% is mined now

And a cool community @ reddit...

And a 325% increase in price in the last 30 days...
(change: +338.04% | high: 0.00000242 | low: 0.00000025) Cryptsy, yottabyte.nu

And more websites accepting dogecoin (eg. doge-dice, bit777, etc. look up reddit or original bitcointalk post)

And i just changed my signature

Shouldn't I buy dogecoin with all my bitcoins??
I am currently 50% invested in dogecoins
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 42coin : Don't get blinded by the price on: January 18, 2014, 12:41:16 AM
42coin has got 2 very big demerits:
Extremely high price
Very low acceptance
and a merit:
Low supply

Sites are not likely to accept 42coin.

Still it is good for profits I think...
my current suggestion is still dogecoin

Also do not get blinded by the price rise and fall.

Suppose u bought 0.0001 42coin @ 500 BTC, and sold at 1000 BTC, you get 100% profit
Similarly,
Bitcoin just rose in a few months 1000%
Sich a rise is impossible with 42coin

Suppose u buy dogecoin @ 25 satoshis and sell at 75 you get 200% profit
and THAT is more likely

AND SINCE DOGECOIN IS NEAR ITS FIRST HALVING...
