61  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Can anyone explain the ridiculous bids on mining contracts on ebay? on: November 27, 2013, 02:14:09 PM
I see that many people bid like $10 on a 2Ghs mining contract for 24 hours on ebay.. (which is equivalent to BTC0.0017) Can anyone explain this? I don't believe that they are just stupid and throw away their money without knowing what the return value will be..
62  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Prospero X-1 ROI in 40 days? on: November 26, 2013, 04:43:23 PM
Hello, I was looking into the X-1, think it is a good deal provided that they ship late Feb as they promise.
Analysis:
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/d3b4a179d2
assuming bitcoin price remains the same and 60% difficulty increase/month (so assuming difficulty will be ~4B at beginning of March)

Καλησπέρα,
κοίταγα τα prospero x-1 και είδα ότι συμφέρουν αρκετά...
Ανάλυση εδώ
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/d3b4a179d2
64  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Rented miner with high HW errors on: November 20, 2013, 04:15:35 PM
Hello
I have rented a 80Gh/s miner for a week, and I have now access to its web interface.
I entered my worker credentials and it started mining. However, after a few hours, I realized that it had very high HW errors.
This is what I have after 1.5 days of mining:

Elapsed   MHSav   FoundBlocks   Getworks   Accepted   Rejected   HW   Utility   Discarded
1d 17h 37m 29s 81965.76  0                    5393        46507        8457      47677  18.62 10707

Is this normal?
My bitcoin.cz account shows:
Average hashrate in last 10 rounds: 68359 Mhash/s

And the graph shows that I am getting 0.08BTC per day.

68  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Raspberry Pi and USB erupters problem on: October 01, 2013, 07:38:06 AM
Hello, I am trying to connect my 5 erupters to my pi to start mining.
I bought a usb hub from ebay, and a 3500mA 5v power supply to ensure power is not an issue.
I follow the instructions on
http://learn.adafruit.com/piminer-raspberry-pi-bitcoin-miner/install-cgminer
but when I connect the first erupter the hub "dissappears" from the pi:

Code:
pi@bomberb17 ~ $ lsusb

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9512 Standard Microsystems Corp.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp.

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0951:1625 Kingston Technology DataTraveler 101 II

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. 4-Port HUB

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. 4-Port HUB

***(I connect the first erupter to the hub)***

pi@bomberb17 ~ $ lsusb

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9512 Standard Microsystems Corp.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp.

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0951:1625 Kingston Technology DataTraveler 101 II

pi@bomberb17 ~ $ ls /dev/*USB*

ls: cannot access /dev/*USB*: No such file

Power is definetely not an issue, I also tried cutting the red wire on the cable that connects the pi and the hub to ensure the pi is not getting backpower.
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Wait for 2months for a BFL 5GH/s or buy Erupters now? on: August 27, 2013, 04:54:28 PM
Hello, I am fresh starting on mining and I want to invest about $300 on ASIC mining hardware. I am between the $270 5GH/s ASIC from BFL and 5x (maybe 6 ) erupters at 330MH/s and around $47 each.I called BFL and they said that even though they are now speeding up their production (no more 6 month waits), if I place an order now it can take 2months, maybe more. Assuming the Bitcoin price remains the same, will this investment worth, taking the difficulty increase into account? Or should I go now for the erupters which are ready to ship? (which are less effective, adding up to 2GH/s for 6x)?
