1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / is there a way to stop rugpulls? on: May 23, 2021, 06:53:40 PM
Is there a way to stop developers from rugpulling?
Maybe a way for a developer to initiate a smart contract and then be locked out of it.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / idea for a coin- socialist coin on: April 01, 2015, 12:05:17 AM
I have an idea for a coin.
It'd be called socialist coin.
The way it would work would be that when the coin is spent 90% of it would be divided redistributed to all the wallets within the network and 10% would go to the merchant.
So everyone would get more socialist coins as more people spent them.
The algorithm used would be memorycoin's to ensure the proletariat had access to mining...
Comrade.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / marinerocoin went up 1000% on: January 04, 2015, 02:20:50 AM
Wtf?
What new features does marine coin offer to justify this increase?
4  Other / Off-topic / making a bit facebook on: January 01, 2015, 01:18:54 AM
i read in the maidsafecoin site that the blockchain can be used for making other platforms.
Would it be possible to use it to make something like a bit facebook?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / coinbase wont let me sell on: December 24, 2014, 11:49:56 PM
Those fuckers wouldnt let me sell my bitcoins.
i had 1.5 btc back and tried to sell them back when they were $355.
I got tired of trying to sell them and put them on cryptsy. Like an idiot i bought ripple at its height and lost .3 btc.
Now I have a little bit less than 1.2 btc and bitcoins are worth $315.
I cant sell them yet because i havent verified my account.
I hate selling at a loss but bitcoins seem to be one dissapointment after the other.
Its been a nice ride but i think its over. I might look into forex or penny stocks next if i fell like speculating.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / idea for an altcoin on: December 24, 2014, 07:50:37 PM
i have an idea for an altcoin.
Itd be called workers coin.
The way youd mine them would be by typing a series of random characters and in return youd get one satoshi (which would be called a marx)
This would ensure that everyone could mine workers coins regardless of the power of their means of production.
The motto for the coin would be "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs"
Id make it but i dont have the know how.
7  Other / Politics & Society / how to subvert a nation on: September 28, 2013, 12:02:08 AM
This is a video about a former kgb agent talking about how subversion works.
I think everyone should watch this.

8  Economy / Marketplace / would you buy gas gift cards with bitcoins? on: September 26, 2013, 02:20:47 PM
I've been thinking about selling about selling gas gift cards for bitcoins.
Thing is people tend to be pretty picky when it comes to paying for gas and I'd probably charge 6%-7.5% to make a profit.
So I'm testing the water to see if its a good idea.
9  Other / Politics & Society / the fed=communism on: September 25, 2013, 12:37:08 AM
The foundation of communism can be found in the communist manifesto.
Among those things are
Quote
Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
or
Quote
Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally
or
Quote
Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
But the one that struck me was
Quote
Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
The federal reserve sets the federal reserve ration which is in essence the credit rate and tries to boost debt through inflation.
The federal reserve is communist! Shocked
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / do we need the blockchain? on: September 24, 2013, 01:49:51 PM
I've noticed a few flaws with the blockchain model.
Among those are.

1.You need to create new blocks in order to make transactions, making it impossible for the crypto currency to ever be completely finite.
2.You need to download the blockchain every time you fire up the wallet which becomes increasingly heavier with time
3.You need miners to protect the blockchain
4.All your transactions are saved on the blockchain
5.Transaction time is dependant on the creation of new blocks

Even the argument that it makes things more decentralized doesn't hold up since we all know mining becomes more centralized with time anyways.

Now I'm not saying this will affect bitcoins in any major way, but I think if someone were to come up with another cryptocurrency in the future they should do away with the concept of blockchain altogether.

Said currency should
1.start off centralised
2.given away to make it more decentralised.
3.make the transactions work through another method like IRC

This would make transactions instant, anonymous and there wouldn't be a need for miners.

Sort of like ripple I guess.

Am I right or am I wrong?

11  Economy / Marketplace / distros for coins on: September 23, 2013, 07:00:57 PM
Hey I went to distro watch and noticed that they sell live dvds with linux distros.
I have jewel cases and dvds, so I figured I could do that.
Anyone interested in buying live linux live dvds/cds for bitcoins (or some alt perhaps)?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How long are you planning to hold on: September 22, 2013, 09:38:56 PM
I was wondering if anyone here had a more long term view of their alts and was planning on holding on to them for longer periods of time.
Personally I'm holding on to anoncoins and megacoins for multiple months. More than that and I'd just get impatient.
Just in case I get lucky.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / will bitcoins recover from mtgox? on: September 22, 2013, 08:15:44 PM
It seems like Mt.Gox has made a mess of things and still hasn't sorted things out.
Needless to say that other exchanges like coinbase and bitstamp will take its place.
The question is wherever Mt.Gox has made more people wary.
Sites like foodler still tie their prices to Mt.Gox...
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / sobriety coins on: September 20, 2013, 02:57:36 PM
So I lost 0.2 BTC gambling (and almost made the money back 2 times)
I was getting a bit too caught up with it and decided to turn my left over bitcoins to namecoins to avoid temptation.
Luckily I invested in anoncoins when they were 0.24  and have almost made my money back.
I'm holding on to muh alts. Lips sealed
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to make your own alt on: September 18, 2013, 06:08:56 PM
Ok I haven't tested it yet, but I think I get the gist of it.
Here it goes.

1.go to the litecoin site
2.go to their github page
3.open the src folder
4.open main.cpp
5.scroll down until you find
Code:
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 50 * COIN; //amount of coins rewarded for block

    // Subsidy is cut in half every 840000 blocks, which will occur approximately every 4 years
    nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 840000); // Litecoin: 840k blocks in ~4 years

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

static const int64 nTargetTimespan = 3.5 * 24 * 60 * 60; // Litecoin: 3.5 days
static const int64 nTargetSpacing = 2.5 * 60; // Litecoin: 2.5 minutes
static const int64 nInterval = nTargetTimespan / nTargetSpacing;

change values accordingly
6.click on main.h
7.scroll down to MAX_MONEY and change the values to the amount of coins that will be mined.
8.compile

I'm still trying to find out how to change the difficulty adjustments.
On the mean time please drop some mBTC on my e-tin cup

16  Economy / Trading Discussion / how to buy bitcoins for argentinian pesos on: September 17, 2013, 03:21:20 PM
So my parents have been wanting to do business with people from Argentina.
But they say they can't move money out the country.
So I thought to myself, woot here comes captain bitcoin.
But then I realized that most places only accept money for bitcoins do it in either dollars, pounds, euros or rubbles.
The only place I could find argentinian pesos for bitcoins is localbitcoins.
But that place is too risky to move large amounts of money.
halp.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / why is anoncoin so high? on: September 16, 2013, 03:13:51 PM
Do people think that anoncoin really provides anonimity?
Transactions are still saved in the blockchain.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / whats your alt strategy on: September 15, 2013, 04:16:42 PM
Here is my alt strategy

1.buy alts
2.make money
3.use the money earned to gamble
4.lose money earned

I think I might skip 3 and 4 from now on

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / interactive mining on: September 12, 2013, 01:40:14 AM
Hello, this question might seem kind of broad, non technical and down right silly.
But I was wondering if it would be possible to create an altcoin whose mining is not done through the traditional brute force method.
But rather by doing a task.
Something like spewing random letters and the miner having to type them in.
