1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / USB raiser not working, please help on: February 21, 2014, 12:21:19 PM
I have bought 6 pci express 1x to 16x powered USB raisers. I plugged all in correctly, but when i hit start button, the computer does not power on, all it does is give a small push to the fans for a split second and nothing happens. the fans turn on for a split second then powers off.
the computer does not even boot or start or show anything on the screen. it simply does not start at all.

specification:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
Powesully: 3x xfx 850W
GPU: 6x r9 290
Raisers: 6x http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-express-1x-to-16x-16x-1x-mining-Extender-Riser-Card-Power-USB3-0-cable-/271378879332?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2f711364
Raiser info: the raisers have jumper installed so i dont need to do a jumper on the pci e 1x for the motherboard to recognize the card.
2  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 6990 clock 970,870 running around 63C, win7 or ubuntu? on: June 25, 2011, 12:18:14 PM
my 2x 6990 are running at gpu cock 970 and mem clock 870. i have no problem with heat and the cards are at 60-65 celsius.
i want to overclock to 1000,900 or 1100,1000. but using amdoverdrivectrl the cards gets unstable and stop working when on 1000,900. its not heat problem because i have no problem with heat.
to overclock past 1000Mhz core and 900Mhz memory, should i use windows 7 64?

im running ubuntu 64 and amdoverdrivectrl 64.

any suggestions?

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [solved] AMDOverdriveCtrl 950,150 on 6990 not working. on: June 16, 2011, 12:43:10 AM
i have downloaded amdoverdrivectrl (64 bit) and it dont work properly. it sets gpu mhz to 950 but when i set memory mhz to 150 it will only show but not work under load:

Adapter 0 - AMD Radeon HD 6990
                            Core (MHz)    Memory (MHz)
           Current Clocks :    950           1250
             Current Peak :    950           150
  Configurable Peak Range : [500-1200]     [75-1500]
                 GPU load :    99%

i have the same problem:
Even leaving AMDOverdriveCtrl running, same result.. the displayed ranges of --odgc make it look like lower clocks are possible, but below some threshold which varies based on CPU clock any change (from --odsc or GUI) doesn't take effect and in fact causes the memory to snap back to the default for the current load level. Arrrgh!!!

thanks
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / [solved] AMDOverdriveCtrl 950,150 on 6990 on: June 15, 2011, 11:10:59 PM
i think i have downloaded amdoverdrive 32bit for ubuntu 64. it dont work properly. it sets gpu mhz to 950 but when i set memory mhz to 150 it will only show but not work:

Adapter 0 - AMD Radeon HD 6990
                            Core (MHz)    Memory (MHz)
           Current Clocks :    950           1250
             Current Peak :    950           150
  Configurable Peak Range : [500-1200]     [75-1500]
                 GPU load :    99%

i have tried to download amdoverdrivectrl 64 bit but i get this message from the website: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amdovdrvctrl/files/

Unable to find any mirror information for the "/deb binaries/amdoverdrivectrl_1.2.0_amd64.deb" file. Please select another file.

if anyone have amdoverdrivectrl_1.2.0_amd64.deb i would appreciate it if they could sent it to my hotmail or upload it somewhere.

thanks

9  Bitcoin / Mining / need help with mining on: June 04, 2011, 01:09:36 AM
hi guys
i made a thread earlier about which mining rig to buy.
i have bought ati 6990 and a good motherboard etc...

installed ubuntu on it and followed this guide: http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=7514.0

Quote
first, i had problem with step 16: svn checkout http://svn3.xp-dev.com/svn/phoenix-miner/trunk
i got this error or message:
svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn3.xp-dev.com/svn/phoenix-miner/trunk': Could not read status line: Connection reset by peer (http://svn3.xp-dev.com)
now this is fixed... i followed the guide and everything went good.. but i couldn't  see my gpu in terminal. so i did research and found out sdk 2.1 dont support 6990.
im trying to install sdk 2.4, but in terminal it dont work and manual i dont get permission.

second, i have no idea how to start mining with my 6990 and what other steps i have to take other then what the guide explains.

any help is very appreciated.
thanks
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / need help with hardware. on: May 23, 2011, 09:43:44 PM
hi
im new here and to bitcoin. i have read a lot about bitcoin for 2 weeks now and finally decided to start with mining bitcoin but i want to start small....

you might tell me to read more about bitcoin but i think i know enough but no one is all knowing hehe.

so i have 1600usd, many friends told me to buy bitcoin and sell later when they rise, but i want to mine my bitcoin and this is the money i have to invest on hardware for bitcoin mining.
im not noob with building computers and im not pro. i have built 6 or 7 computers for my self and friends so far, all from parts and components ordered from different places. and i also have good experience with overclocking (right now im on a intel 920 2.6ghz overclocked to 4.0ghz). and i have studied electronic and will study electronic engineering next year.

so finally my question hehe:)
i dont know which hardware to chose, i can chose a good MB and GPU and CPU and RAM, but i want advice from bitcoin miners. i want to know what mb and gpu and hardware you are using. i want to know your hardware.

thanks very much for the help, i appreciate it.
and sorry for my bad english, its not my first language.

cheers.
