Uses of Modorr Token

The Modorr Token (MDR) has a number of uses; all of which are fully automated by the smart contract built into each token.

 1. The primary use of the MDR is as an entry point to the Modorr Platform. As the price of a MDR is a bit high the value is set to match. So, 1 MOD buys you a full year on the Platform. This cost can be broken down into 0.5MOD for 6 months; or, as low as 0.1 MDR for 5 weeks on the platform.

2. The second use of the MDR is to allow the user to play a game. For this purpose the MDR is broken into 100MODi; and, each MODi is broken into 4 units called 1/4MODi. So, if each MODi=$1 USD; each 1/4MODi=$0.25 USD. That creates a true, old school feeling to the platform by taking the user back to the 1980s when arcade games gave the user a thrill for a quarter. And that is the feeling Modorr wants to instil in its users. The cost to play each game is dictated by the smart contract used to create the game and determined by the user who created the game.

3. The third use of the MDR is as entry into the game dev platform. This allows the developer to build a game and defne its various aspects. The cost in MODi or MDR is determined by that particular function (those functionalities will be outlined and described in more detail in future versions of this whitepaper).

4.The fnal use of the MDR is one that we feel will be one of the most popular. When a user deposits MDR (or any portion thereof) to play a game, that is split into various pieces. 1/10 of each MDR deposited to play a game is paid to the platform to pay our employees, devs and hosting costs. 1/10 of each MDR deposited into the platform to play a game is paid directly to the dev of that game. And additional 1/10 of each MDR deposited to play a game is paid into the DEV POOL (which is a wallet that pays equally a monthly disbursal to every dev who has created a game on the platform). And, the remaining 7/10 goes into the game algorithm. The game algorithm pays out portions of MDR to the player for each point they score on the game if they win that game; or, which goes into the community pot should they lose. Divorcing couples are being warned to disclose all their assets amid fears that some may use digital currencies such as Bitcoin to hide their wealth.

Lawyers suggest that the anonymous nature of these digital currencies could prove tempting to those involved in an acrimonious split.

One solicitor said she had seen the "first wave" of cases where crypto-currencies were listed as assets.

For years, hackers have robbed Bitcoin investors, emptying their cryptocurrency wallets without fear of being caught thanks to the relative anonymity of the blockchain. Now, Cisco (csco, +4.42%) has exposed the thieves behind a string of particularly flagrant attacks.

A Ukrainian hacker group dubbed Coinhoarder has stolen more than $50 million in cryptocurrency from users of Blockchain.info, one of the most popular providers of digital currency wallets, according to a report published Wednesday by Cisco’s Talos cybersecurity team.

The report explains how thieves preyed upon their victims using a “very simple” yet treacherous technique: Buying Google ads on popular search keywords related to cryptocurrency “to poison user search results” and snatch the contents of crypto wallets. This meant people Googling terms like “blockchain” or “bitcoin wallet,” saw links to malicious websites masquerading as legitimate domains for Blockchain.info wallets.

Bitcoin jumped above $10,000 on Thursday, as a slew of major digital currencies extended Wednesday's rally and regulatory fears subsided.

The price of the world's best-known cryptocurrency surged above $10,000 on Thursday, on Coinbase, the largest U.S. marketplace for buying major cryptocurrencies.

A new stock listing in Canada will soon give investors their first chance to buy into the booming market for computer chips driving most of the world’s bitcoin mining farms.

Hut 8 Mining Corp. which is set to debut on the TSX Venture Exchange in Toronto this month, is backed by Bitfury Group Ltd., the main competitor to the Chinese company that dominates the market.

"Hut 8 is a proxy for Bitfury in North America, that’s all it is," says Sean Clark, chief executive officer of Vancouver-based Hut 8. Bitfury -- the biggest Bitcoin miner outside China -- already has 172 megawatts of data centers globally, has mined over a million tokens, and estimates its most recent annual revenue was $350 million, according to investor documents.

Bitcoin’s latest fork is just weeks away and this one’s a little different from the rest. Rather than simply tinkering with Segwit or adjusting block sizes, Bitcoin private (BTCP) is adding zk-Snarks. The privacy enhancing feature is best known for its use in the Z family of coins including zcash, zclassic, and zencash. That’s not surprising given that the fork is being instigated by Rhett Creighton, who is simultaneously forking bitcoin and zclassic on February 28 to create BTCP which will then be available to holders of both coins.

The pioneering virtual currency bitcoin could have trouble sticking around for the long haul given its lack of intrinsic value and practical applications other than as a means of payment, according to Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Shiller.

Despite his less-than-enthusiastic prediction, he recognizes the fast-growing cryptocurrency market and calls for government intervention to protect investors. Shiller spoke to The Nikkei at the World Economic Forum in January and answered additional questions by email.

The economics professor at Yale University views the blockchain technology that underpins virtual currencies as an important innovation. The technology has given rise to such services as cheap and fast money transfers.

The problem, Shiller said, is with bitcoin itself. "Gold has maintained value for thousands of years" because it is "inherently and uniquely scarce and beautiful and useful for certain purposes," he explained. But "bitcoin is none of these," making its value very difficult to determine, Shiller said. "While Bitcoin production is limited to 21 million coins, there is nothing to stop new cryptocurrencies" from emerging, he noted.

Thousands of government websites have been hijacked by hackers to mine cryptocurrency, in a process known as "cryptojacking", it has emerged.

The sites, including the Information Commissioner's Office, the Scottish NHS helpline and the Student Loans company - along with hundreds of other central and local government sites -  appear to have been running a power-pinching program that uses visitors' computers to mine cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

The websites were infected with malware called Coinhive, which works by hiding in a website’s code, while stealing the processing power of its visitors' devices to mine cryptocurrency.

In a recent interview with CNBC, the Pantera Capital founder appeared unfazed by the recent crash in the cryptocurrency markets, stating “We’re certainly aware it’s a very speculative market,” adding, “It’s volatile on the upside. It can be volatile on the downside.”

Mr. Morehead predicts that the price of bitcoin will begin to recover in coming weeks, stating, “Typically, [bitcoin] has had on average a 71-day bear market, and we’re 52 days into this. It seems like another couple of weeks and everything will be normal and [bitcoin] can start growing back up again.” Mr. Morehead also noted that “We’ve had a 64% fall from its peak to the trough a couple of days ago, and that’s actually exactly the average decline in the bitcoin markets over the last seven bear market cycles.”

Russian authorities have arrested engineers at one of the country’s top-secret nuclear warhead facilities after they allegedly tried to mine bitcoin on its computers.

Several employees have been detained at the Federal Nuclear Centre in Sarov, western Russia, after making "an attempt to use the work computing facilities for personal ends, including for so-called mining", a spokesperson for the centre told Interfax News Agency.

“Their activities were stopped in time,” they added. 

The Federal Nuclear Centre is overseen by Rosatom, the Russian nuclear agency. In 2011, the centre launched its new supercomputer with a capacity of 1 petaflop, which can undertake one thousand trillion operations per second.

The computer was not intended to be connected to the internet and when scientists attempted to do so, the centre’s security department were alerted.

Iceland is expected to use more energy mining bitcoin than powering its homes this year.

Large virtual currency mining companies have established a base on the island, which has an abundance of geothermal and hydroelectric power plants.

And with massive amounts of energy needed to run the computers that create bitcoins, it is seen as an ideal base.

Johann Snorri Sigurbergsson, business development manager at the energy company Hitaveita Sudurnesja, said he expected Iceland’s virtual currency mining to double its energy consumption to around 100 megawatts this year.

That is more than households use on the island nation of 340,000, according to Iceland’s National Energy Authority.

Despite a shaky few months with hundreds of billions wiped off the total cryptocurrency market earlier this week experts are predicting a rebound with the market to bounce back with interest.

Experts warned the total value could break the trillion-dollar mark before the year is out.

Thomas Glucksmann of cryptocurrency exchange Gatecoin predicted a “rebound” to “all new highs”, which bitcoin value rising from around $7,000 to $50,000.

He told CNBC: “Increasing regulatory recognition of cryptocurrency exchanges, the entrance of institutional capital and major technology developments will contribute to the market's rebound and push cryptocurrency prices to all new highs this year.
