1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / PSU dilemma - What would you do here? on: January 28, 2014, 04:25:34 AM
Got a 3 card rig right now with a 850W Corsair Plus Gold PSU, one 7950 and 2x 6870. Good unit, no problems running the 3 cards with the 850w.

My plan is to sell the 6870s and have a 4 card rig of 7xxx, maybe two 7950 and two 7970. I'm guessing I'm going to want at least 1100W here? What's the most cost effective way to try and get those extra 350w?

Should I try to power 3 cards with the 850w and buy a 300-400w for one card? Sell the 850w and just buy a bigger PSU?

The PSU stuff for cards is something new to me (hell I never even owned a dedicated graphics card until I wanted to start mining) so any advice will be appreciated.

2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Lost password & seed, create "safe" dump with electrum? on: November 06, 2013, 01:46:35 PM
Right, so I've done the unthinkable: Created a new wallet but forgot password and lost the seed.

I've been poking around for some help on this, and I saw this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240779.0, as well as some others talking about brute-forcing a wallet.dat password which can be done fairly easily when you've got info about the password (which I do).

Anyhow on that thread, there is an explanation of how to create a dump of your wallet to send to someone else to crack the password, but removing what they'd need to be able to actually spend the coins.

Is this possible with a deterministic wallet like Electrum? I've got pywallet up and running with the web gui, and the "create dump" option doesn't seem to work on Electrum wallets.

Thoughts?

3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Lost Electrum Password, Need Help on: November 06, 2013, 03:08:31 AM
Hello -

So I've gone and done the unthinkable: I made a new Electrum wallet, and not only have I lost the seed, but I forgot the password as well. I've still got the Master pub. seed and the .dat file, so while it's been nice to have a watch-only wallet on my desktop and watch my BTC increase in value for the past week, it'd really be nice to have access to the money since I've recently become unemployed as well.

I've read this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85495.msg941818#msg941818

I do have information about what my password probably is, so I know this is not impossible. In fact I'm pretty sure someone with the necessary skillz could get it fairly quickly.

I would have liked to posted there but apparently newbies are stuck in noobland for a while (I have been a lurker on this forum for a while however). I also would have liked to message that cat Revalin because he seems to be the man to talk to, but I guess I have to wait a bit to get PM rights.

Also, this service seems like an option: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240779.60#msg3041669

With Electrum being a deterministic wallet, would I be able to create the wallet dump necessary for them to crack my password but not have access to all my coins?

Thanks [Suspicious link removed]orry that we had to meet under these circumstances, but I could really use some help.
