1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Novel Application of Transaction Comments on the Blockchain on: April 11, 2018, 01:07:33 PM
I have been looking into the real-world applications and implementation strategies for various cryptos and came across Joulecoin, XJO.  This coin has been around since 2013!  At first glance, it seems like just another fiat currency replacement.  However, itís actually quite novel in that you can write transaction comments to the blockchain itself.

So what though, right?

Well, think about the real-world application of this as a business currency.  With the proper coding and software implementation, you could write client names, job names, etc. that can be tracked for business purposes.  Everything would not only be secured on the blockchain, but proof of all of the transactions occurring would be clearly visible to anybody looking into it if they had the tx hash.  Sure, this takes away from the anonymous nature of cryptocurrency, but real-world applications do not necessarily need to be truly anonymous.  The security of the blockchain itself is enough.

I have no idea how to implement this into any sort of application, but thought that it was a great idea to think/talk about.  I am not aware of another crypto that allows transaction comments that are written directly to the blockchain.  Please correct me if I am mistaken.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / First Try At Analyzing BTC - Bear Market on: March 09, 2018, 08:29:05 PM
https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/X7mVLNpw-Year-of-the-Bear-for-BTC/

Overall, I see BTC continuing down on its downward path.  There was a distinct bear flag directly before the abrupt drop.  Another one is forming very nicely right now.  Can this be the next signal of a big drop???

Please give me any feedback that you have.  I am still learning and would welcome any at all.
3  Other / Meta / Add 'New' Merit System to News? on: March 05, 2018, 07:56:40 PM
I searched for this to be asked/suggested, but I couldn't find it.  Forgive me if it is a repost.

There are still people posting in the merit thread asking why it was implemented without even reading the OP.  Or, people are posting just to say that they didn't know about it.

Right now, this is the headline: News: Latest stable version of Bitcoin Core: 0.16.0  [Torrent]. (New!)

It could say this as well: "Merit & new rank requirements" with a permanent link to the OP of the thread.

Additionally, it would be great if the thread itself was stickied for easy access in Meta.

5  Other / Meta / New Shill Accounts for Marinecoin on: February 26, 2018, 03:33:21 PM
I sent a PM to the mod of the altcoin forum, but I imagine they likely get a ton of PMs and this would get more views from the masses.

I know I am not alone when I say that I am sick of the Brand New/Newbie accounts being created simply to post once or twice in various threads about Marinecoin.  It's always the same posts and there isn't much substance to them.

I have not done any research on Marinecoin, but I am fairly certain they are using some dirty tactics to self-promote.  This coin may not even be the only one doing this.  I just haven't noticed any others.

I dunno if the bots are being manually registered or they are somehow able to register themselves requiring a forum update.  Of course, it could just be the same person creating all of the accounts and posting it all manually.

I just wanted to get this message out there.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CoinFi vs Peculium on: January 24, 2018, 02:05:00 PM
Both ICOs have ended or will be ending today in the case of Peculium.

CoinFi is 'crowdsourced and professionally curated research, analysis, trading signals, trading algorithms, and market-moving news to give cryptocurrency traders the real-time market intelligence needed to gain an edge.'

Peculium is 'a transparent, savings platform based on automatic machine learning, this way avoid the risks encountered nowadays in investment world.
The investor now has an inalienable right to transparency, to the real-time management of his portfolio, while guaranteeing himself a tremendous future: to gain freedom and to prepare his future, capital and better life.
Peculium, a pioneer in BlockChain-related savings, will become the ultimate tool that will bring new answers to the constraints of today's global savings.'

Which of the two would you think would be the better investment.  Both of them are obviously not the same thing, but they both provide the same sort of market analysis and prediction algorithms but in two very different ways.

Would you trust a machine or would you trust crowdsourced information more?

I am unsure of it either way.  Crowdsourced could be easily influenced if an exploit was found, but I think a machine could be influenced directly by its creator.

Help me decide my next best investment.  I already got burned on Peculium ICO (my fault though - bought coins and am from US), but was thinking of investing when it hits HitBTC (unknown date) and hoping for my refund to be processed.  CoinFi is about to be listed on 29 Jan 2018.
