1  Other / Obsolete (selling) / scammers posting other people's heatware... on: June 09, 2011, 02:03:35 PM
and trying to pass it off as their own, this is a common practice people, do your homework, if someone posts an ad and references a specific heatware account make sure the email you get originates from that account, if they say "this is just another account I use more often" or something, tell them that you will email them at their heatware email and to respond using that email...

I had this happen and it was pretty easy to figure out it was a scam...

- I checked the heatware posted in the listing and sent an email to the email account registered with heatware (the linked account had over 1,200 positive evals) , no response for 3 or 4 hours...
- I then contacted directly through the ad (Bitcoin Classifieds) and voila, minutes later I get an email from a different email account..
- red flags...
1. the first name was spelled differently...
2. the last name was totally different, not even close...
3. I traced the ip to Washington (state, not DC), the heatware account listed Georgia as the state of residence...

- I asked why the email account was different than the one registered to heatware and told him/her I would email the heatware registered account to make sure the account belonged to him/her...
- still no response from the heatware registered email account (the real account user is probably wondering wtf I'm talking about in the eamils...lol)...

be careful people, if a deal is too good to be true...well, you know the rest...
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / has anyone bought anything on Bitcoin Classifieds...? on: June 07, 2011, 03:49:40 AM
or is it like a haven for scammers...? I wanted to try it out and sent 7 bitcoins for a 5850, I only had 7 bitcoins and after a few emails they decided that 7 was enough, lol, that should've been my first red flag on the deal, I was promised tracking info Monday and have yet to receive an email, did anyone else fall for this ad...? XFX 5850 with an egg cooler (shroud was removed), or was I the only noob that fell for it...? lol...

while this one says 9 BTC, the original ad (same picture) I responded to a day or two earlier started out at 10 BTC with 1 BTC shipping anywhere in the states and 2 BTC for shipping to Canada, I should've known something was up because it was the only reasonable posting in the classifieds given the exchange rate at the time...
3  Bitcoin / Mining / I don't know what's going on... on: June 04, 2011, 02:46:42 AM
but I'm pissed...

I just had an automatic payout take .99 BTC out of my Deepbit balance (~roughly a half hour ago) and it's not showing up in my wallet, where is it...? I don't have a bunch of video cards and only get about 400+ MH/s, so that is a lot for me, especially if the payouts for my contributions to the pool are getting stolen...

EDIT: during the time it took me to post this it's now there with 8 confirmations, wtf...? when I had payouts before they didn't take half this long...
4  Bitcoin / Mining / listed average speeds on Deepbit... on: June 02, 2011, 12:49:28 PM
they can not be accurate, I have a 5850 pulling 330+ MH/s and a 4890 pulling 100+ MH/s, yet I sometimes get 500+ MH/s average speed on Deepbit, then this morning I saw this...

how is the average speed calculated...?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / 4870 and 4890 only mine using cpu... on: May 26, 2011, 01:19:38 PM
0% gpu load on each, I'm mining on another rig with a 5850 and it stays pretty much at 98%-99% gpu load, I'm using poclbm.exe for each rig but the one I tried both 4800 series cards in just won't load the gpu at all and just mines with the cpu...

any suggestions...?

 Huh

EDIT: using Windows 7

EDIT2: fixed...
