21  Economy / Goods / [WTB]: reprap kit (Mendel) on: August 26, 2012, 05:17:57 PM
Anyone selling a full reprap Mendel kit (for bitcoins)?
I'm talking plastics, hardware, electronics.   I'm hoping for minimal (or so) soldering, and hopefully something that has good clean power (i.e., if something requires 5V, then supply 12V with a voltage regulator, for instance).
I don't have the funds yet, so this is down the line, but I want to find someone who sells full kits.  I would consider an almost put-together kit as well (i.e., most of the stuff assembled, but I'd have to assemble the legs, belts, minor stuff like that).

I will consider a "broken" printer if the broken parts are some of the plastics.
22  Other / Beginners & Help / newbie poor man's gambling (bitcoinduit) on: May 07, 2012, 09:06:36 PM
Hey newbies. Smiley  I've created a poor man's bitcoinduit round... .1btc minimum, the jackpot is up to 2.3 at the time of this writing!  Just in case someone wants to use some of their freshly minted coins to try to win more!    Bitcoinduit is fun, so even if you don't' like my round, there's others on the bicoinduit site in case you're a higher roller than I! Smiley
See here:

There's a help/rules link on bitcoinduit as well to explain how the game works.  Think simplified ponzi with a jackpot. Smiley
23  Other / Beginners & Help / question about newbie access on: May 07, 2012, 08:16:00 PM
Can newbies see other forums and just not post to them, or are they totally restricted to viewing just the newbie section, too?  I ask because my account was created before those restrictions and so I'm just wondering.  If they can view other, is it considered off-topic in here to post a link to an existing thread elsewhere on the forums?
24  Economy / Services / Liberty Reserve to bank transfer on: May 07, 2012, 03:19:32 AM
Does anyone have a recommendation for a bank that one can easily (or semi-easily) transfer from LR?   This account would be for legal actions (such as paying off mortgage, etc) but being offshore (so not US-based) would be ideal. Smiley

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / bitcoin-qt.exe keeps crashing on: May 01, 2012, 03:08:48 AM
I'm on version, Win7
I launch it and after a couple minutes it crashes.
In the client window is the error message:
DbEnv::txn_checkpoint: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
C:\Program Files(x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe in ThreadDumpAddress()
Another window pops up:
 Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
It complains that the app is crashing.

I reinstalled to 6.0.6, not quite sure what version I had before that.
27  Other / Off-topic / Shipping Gold question on: April 27, 2012, 08:13:40 PM
So I told my boss (and showed him) about a couple silver 1oz bars I bought with bitcoins.  He's curious but mostly neutral on bitcoins.  But that's not the point here.
I told him how I plan to one day purchase some gold bars as well, and he thought he read somewhere that owning physical gold bars was not permitted in the US?  Does anyone have any info about that?  Now obviously I know people are doing it, or places like coinabul wouldn't exist...
But my question is, since it undoubtedly goes through various scanners, is shipping gold something that will have you "marked" and then they start watching you?  Or does it depend on the amount?  So shipping a couple 1oz bars versus say 100 1oz bars?
Is shipping large quantities of gold (whatever "large" is) something that might get confiscated?  Now my boss has me worried to buy anything more than a gram. Smiley
28  Bitcoin / Mining / ideas for better cooling? on: April 27, 2012, 03:42:44 AM
Ok, so I have a Corsair 300D case with the side taken off.  My 7970 is OC to 1200/600 and I'm consistently at 90-92 with 60-65% fan speed.  So right now I'm going to lower back to stock speeds, but would like to OC it again. Smiley  The case is standing "normal" and not on its side (I have cats, and where it is now they can't get into, but if I laid it on its side, I fear the worst!)
I can't afford a water cooling system yet, and this computer is in a room (my man-cave!) that doesn't get a lot of air movement (but in the basement).  I have space for fans on top if needed (eventually will be where I put a radiator).
Any ideas?  I thought about putting a fan up close... so should I look at blowing away the exhaust, or blowing room air into the case?
any other ideas?
A couple weeks ago it was hovering around 85 temps (OC), and like 50% fan, so I don't know what happened (other than it's heating up here in Kansas and we have our AC set at 74 in the house).  Not sure what ambient is in this room, but I think somewhere around there since I have my computer in here.

btw I'm using TriXX for my information/settings.
29  Other / Off-topic / Beautiful gems by tiptopgemdotcom and c0ffer :) on: April 12, 2012, 03:19:58 PM
I got my gems in a while ago but finally got them in a setting I made for my wife, so I want to give props to users tiptopgemdotcom and c0ffer for selling me these beautiful gemstones for bitcoins. Smiley
I got the two sapphires (representing my birthstone and my daughter's birthstone) from tiptopgemdotcom and the blue topaz (for my son's birthstone) I got from c0ffer.

I suck at editing pictures but I wanted to clean up from my iPhone photo so you could see how good they are.  Anyway, the jeweler who set them for me thought they were beautiful as well!
I'll probably later put in my wife's 1/4c diamond from our wedding ring to complete the set since that's her birthstone. Smiley
When it comes time to replacing the diamond for her ring, I will definitely contact both users to see what they can come up with (as well as my friend who owns a pawn shop).
If a stone from one of their auctions/sales catch your eye, I can personally vouch for their reputation!

32  Economy / Goods / WTS: StyleWriter Black Ink Cartridge on: April 02, 2012, 02:40:20 AM
I have an unopened/sealed still in the box StyleWriter Black Ink Cartridge that I purchased back in 1996, I believe it was.
cartridge number is:  M8041G/C
Anyone still using a StyleWriter and interested?
This can be used in the following printers:  StyleWriter, StyleWriter II, Portable StyleWriter, StyleWriter 1200, and Color StyleWriter 1500
back then I paid $26 plus tax.  I'd let it go for 2btc shipped (USPS) in the US.
33  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Gil Hibben throwing knives on: March 24, 2012, 06:48:28 AM
I'm thinking of selling my 2 throwing knives.  I haven't decided on my price yet.  They're approx 6 inches in total length.  They're used, and have scuff marks for where I missed my target, didn't connect so it bounced off, etc... but they still throw awesome, and when you get it down and hear the *thud* of knife sticking in wood, it's a beautiful sound. Smiley

Both have their own leather sheath.  I just took one of the knives out of the sheath for the 2nd pic to show the knife.

Anyone interested, make a reasonable offer.

asking 4btc shipped anywhere in US via regular USPS ground

37  Economy / Goods / AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide Sixth Alpha (Dec 1979) (Revised Edition) on: March 23, 2012, 03:44:11 AM
I'm going to list this at 10btc (OBO) shipped anywhere in US (regular USPS ground).  If you need faster delivery, or outside US, I'll ask that you cover shipping as well.
This is in used condition.  Wear on the creases of the spine and cover and around the edges.  You also get my name (in ink, I couldn't erase) that I guess I felt I needed to write in the inside cover of the book back in 1985. Smiley
There shouldn't be any other markings in the book.

38  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / What happens when all bitcoins are mined? on: March 21, 2012, 04:08:11 PM
So what will miners do when all the bitcoins are mined?   At that point are miners needed?  Or will they still get "rewards" (like due to the network fees) to keep calculating for transactions?
39  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Mac G5 video cards on: March 15, 2012, 07:10:15 PM
Anyone currently use any of the Mac Pro G5's (stock) video cards for mining?  Were any of them worth a crap (to mine at like 20+MH/s)?
Our company will be ditching about 15 of them, and I've been given permission to cannibalize parts if I want.  And whatever I don't take will be going to a recycling company.  So of course I'll be looking through the video cards to see what the stock cards are/were, and if we've upgraded any of them to something beefier.   I really don't want any of the other stuff out of the G5s, although I am tempted to cannibalize parts to make a "super" G5 out of them all, but most likely I'll just let them go minus any video cards that are worth a crap.
We currently have several "mineable" cards still in some newer Macs in production, so I can't take any of those until we end-of-life them.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / possible bitcoin addresses on: March 15, 2012, 05:56:20 PM
How many possible bitcoin addresses are there?   Since I don't know the math that takes place, how are they calculated?  If it's by each client, how many possible per person?
