Bitcoin Resources - Consolidate List (India Specific)

Introduction

The original topic has worn out/outdated and the legality of cryptocurrencies has changed a lot in India comparing to the days when Benson was in power. So I decided to create a topic not diverting from the original vision and to add many more points on how bitcoin and it's counterparts can really be helpful for us, the Indians. When I came to know about BTC in late 2016, initially at first I thought this as a get rich quick scheme/stock market sort of asset as majority of us thought. As when days passed by, I started realizing the true vision of why satoshi created this in 2009.

Keeping the shitty Indian regulations made by the uneducated politicians aside, let me focus on what we as Indians can do to achieve the full potential of bitcoin as well as contribute to the betterment of the community. This topic will go through almost all the relevant information, and will probably help us to compete with global bitcoiners in terms of technology as well as by physical means. We do have a good grasp and are equally knowledgeable but the problem is that we are governed by uneducated shit rulemakers who is always willing us to remain slaves or not to learn anything new.

Either you are a trader, stock broker, investor, developer, jewellery maker/collector, gambler, freelancer, a hardware specialist (Electronic Communication Guy), Goods Trader (it may be physical or digital), Lender (who gives non-collateral loans to the needy for interest) Bitcoin offers a wide range of opportunities for us to cherish in the respective fields. But we, the fellow Indians just look at the trading/stock market scheme of bitcoin and ruin ourselves with our country laws made by the uneducated shitty politicians who need a generation age to understand what bitcoin is and to use them in real time.

For instance just go to a random local board (say Italian -> Guide) there our fellow forum members create topics to educate people on Lightning Network, Schnorr Signatures, Electrum usage etc. Apart from a few handful of us, does any of the spammy shitposter know what does a lightning network really means? No, that's because the majority of us hunt for money but not really willing to learn the technlogy and implement them.So this topic covers the various ways on how effectively we can use bitcoin and stand on top among the fellow forum members.

1. Traders

Buying and Selling for profits has been a old practice in India. We buy goods at a cheaper rate and sell them for higher profits. Cryptocurrency as a whole is subjected to extreme volatility. The prices may rise and fall ~$1,000 within a hour. So, if you are a solid trader and be well aware of the news going around in the digital world you can trade with your cryptocurrencies. I don't really need to give much of a intro for trading as around 95-98% of the Indians (who know about crypto market) trade with their bitcoins.

Some websites where you can trade bitcoin and Ethereum :

1. Binance - A centralized crypto exchange which handles major volumes. Though Binance doesn't come under the Indian market, they are the largest exchanges were cryptocurrencies are being traded be it the traders originate from India. If you are new to Bitcoin, Binance has joined hands with WazirX (another major Indian exchange) and they are trying to ease the INR - BTC conversions for Indian users.

2. IDEX- A decentralized ERC20 exchange which can be used for buying and selling ERC20 tokens for your ether.

3. Localbitcoins - INR <-> BTC trading pair anonymously (at least off the radar)
I have bought cumulatively 1+ BTC at various time frames from 2016 - 2019 from various traders here. Until the problems/legal regulations get sorted out, I would stick with this site for my withdrawals

4. COINDCX - I have personally used this exchange twice for withdrawal and they do seem to be trustworthy for buying and selling through INR.

5. WazirX- A recent entry into the game of cryptocurrencies, WazirX has been operating flawlessly for BTC - INR pairs. Also they have joined with the major cryptocurrency exchange - Binance and have launched their own token.

6. Bisq- Bisq is a P2P, non-Custodian  and a decentralized exchange.

7. LocalCryptos - INR <-> BTC, ETH trading pair anonymously. If you are a user of Ethereum and would like to invest in them apart from Bitcoin, we could better stick with the localcryptos site for our buying and withdrawals. LocalCryptos are a perfect alternative o buy Eth using INR, but you need to pay attention for the scam traders and do your own research before buying from them. I can personally suggest to use this exchange as similar to LBC. LocalCryptos can be used as an alternative to Localbitcoins site for buying Bitcoin as well.

8. Unocoin - Though Unocoin was launched way back in 2013, they were quite active in the developing Indian crypto scene right before the 2018 banking ban of cryptocurrencies in India. Once the ban was lifted in 2020, they had started their INR deposits and withdrawals thereby getting back into Indian crypto market. Unocoin is quite famous in India for trading activities and many Indian traders are using these for larger trades.

9. Bitrefill - India - Though I haven't used them personally but they have been proven to be legit by many traders and crypto enthusiasts. They have a wide variety of gift cards for purchases ranging from Amazon India, Flipkart, Bookmyshow, Makemytrip, Uber, Myntra, PayTM and apart from that they do have recharges for various networks such as Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, Jio, BSNL and Tata Docomo as well.

Either way it is better to buy USDT for INR, and then trade with USDT in Binance.

2. Developers

Indian Bitcoin community lacks a major role in contributing to the code or in the creation of new blockchain developers. We have a strong development team which can compete with the first world developers. But the determination to learn new tech is what we lack all over the country. Whenever I get into the Bitcoin github, I search for at least one Indian guy who can speak with code but I don't find one. Though skang is not active in forum, he has a strong technical knowledge on blockchain and is very much active in Telegram.

If you are a normal Indian engineer or at least a guy with a basic CS background, why not read Cryptography (apart from the sylabbus) and educate yourself more to create your own blockchain or help the fellow bitcoin developers? Sadly our universities  have only one subject on Cryptography and that too doesn't get deep with tech. Use a compiler, download Eclipse CDT/ any text editors and start testing the code or review the pull requests in the github. That will help you in getting a grasp on how the Bitcoin development works. If you are good with concepts, change the code and build the headless bitcoin from scratch. If you find a issue, post them in git - we need more Indians to get in with the Bitcoin/atleast blockchain development.

You can always download core and start playing with the application in Regtest/Testnet mode. If you feel any difficulties, you can PM me anytime and I can assist you with what to learn.

Some useful resources for taking you forward in the game

1. Bitcoin - Github - The official source code which is worth billions of dollars.

2. Mastering Bitcoin: Programming the Open Blockchain - A very good programming book on bitcoin which will help you in understanding development from scratch. If you are bad at understanding English and would be to read the book in our official language (Hindi), Bitlover10 has done a wonderful translation on the book and posted in the forum.

Here is the Hindi translation for the initial chapters of the book : Mastering Bitcoin :-

3. Bitcoin - Developer Documentation - The official developer documentation which helps us in understanding each and every concept on bitcoin.

If you are a native Hindi speaker, the developer documentation is also available in Hindi.

4. Bitcoin - Developer Mailing List - The official mailing list for bitcoin developers. You can subscribe to it and can learn how developers work.

5. Contributing to Core Development- Learn how to contribute to core.

6. Bitcoin Technical Resources by Jameson Lopp - Jameson Lopp is one of the respected Bitcoin Engineers and has gathered Development articles written by various Bitcoin Developers to help the newbie developers to get into the game of Core Development.

Side Note : Use Ubuntu environment always or at least WSL provided by Windows. Though I have personally tested various PRs, I am involving myself slowly into understanding cryptography and in future I would get involved myself with the Core Development.

3. Mining

Mining is one of the important aspects for the proper functioning of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Miners spend a lot of computer energy to verify the transactions and add them in the blockchain.
Along with that, the miners get rewarded with 12.5 BTC as per the current reward rate which is included in that particular block and goes to the miner's address.
Today, mining difficulty has risen to higher standards where you can't mine bitcoin or other popular cryptocurrencies using your home CPU.

Some helpful resources to get started with mining bitcoins :

1. Mining Section - Mining is one among the heavily moderated section in the whole forum. If you have beginners question on mining, try directing them to Beginners & Help as your topic might get trashed easily.

2. Getting Started with Mining - This topic provides you a good intro to Mining and the Hardware you need to buy.

3. Current List of Competitive Hardware - This topic provides you a general idea on what hardwares are compatible for us to mine bitcoin.

4. AntPool - Antpool is the most famous pool for combined mining activities. Nowadays it is not really advisable to mine bitcoin individually.  So miners join various pools, provide their hashpower and receive bitcoin in return.

4. Wallets - What to use and Why to use?

There is a common misconception among everyone that bitcoins are stored in the wallet like our physical cash and coins. That's completely wrong, the Bitcoins are stored in the blockchain and you need private keys to spend them. So the wallets only store private keys and not the Bitcoins. Here is a topic written by Lauda which can educate you on what wallets we can use : [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?

Guides and theories are often presented well in this forum, and I suggest the new beginners and the oldies to read this topic and start using the wallets suggested there. For Newbies, please don't fall for any web wallet scams or electrum phishing links. Every trusted wallet has been mentioned in the Beginners Sticky topic and it gives a deep insight on best wallets to secure your private keys.

5. Collectors - Gold and Silver Traders

Have you ever heard of Physical Bitcoins? Physical Bitcoins are the physical embodiment of the native digital currency bitcoin. Initially when I heard of them, I thought these are scammy in nature. But after learning through them a separate market apart from the digital world is being run by collectors and precious metal coin makers. Here, the coins are loaded and the private key required to spend them are printed on back of the hologram. This hologram is printed on back of a physical coin made of bronze/silver/gold.

So, whether if you are a gold/silver investor or would like to collect rare coins like Bitbills, Casascius then Physical Currencies are the best way to cherish in your career. Coin Makers from all over the world make coins and sell them for bitcoins in EBay and Collectibles section of our forum. If you are the other way around like you can mint your own coin, you can do that and auction in the collectibles section of the community.

Collectibles vary in prices with the rarer ones reaching as high as even $50,000. 2 months back a first day funded 1 BTC Casascius coin (very first physical coin representation of loaded bitcoin) reached a record breaking price of 6 BTC.

Some useful resources for mastering the physical coin market

1. Collectibles Child Board : The official section where Auctions and Announcements would be made for the Physical Bitcoins.

2. Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies by Elias Ahonen - Regarded by Physical Crypto Enthusiast as the Bible of Physical Coins, this particular book covers the Physical Bitcoin Market with utmost details with numerous information on the various rare physical crypto coins available in the market. You can buy this book from Amazon India.

3. Coin.community - A website dedicated to know more about Physical Cryptocurrencies.

6. Gamblers

Gambling has been always seen as a negative way for losing your hard earned money. In India, people do gamble but not on a larger extent as other Western people does. Along with that, Indian laws never allow us to gamble for a longer time period AFAIK that's because we are living in a centralized nation where slavery and bribery is being followed in a nation-wide level. So if you are a gambler and willing to lose your money on Gambling, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies help you in a global scale. Bitcoin, Ethereum along with other Alts are helpful to gamble at a global level throwing away the legal restrictions which our country has implied on us. You could read the topic made by DarkStar_ which provides a better insight on house edges and good crypto gambling websites available for us.

Some useful resources for Gambling with your cryptocurrencies :

1. Overview of Bitcoin Accepting Sportsbooks (with margin/house edge comparisons)

2. FortuneJack - FortuneJack is one among the most trusted crypto gambling websites. There are players and bitcoin whales all over the world who trust FortuneJack and their fair play in the Crypto Gambling Market.

3. Primedice - Primedice is one among the few older bitcoin casinos which can be trusted upon with your money and bets. They have paid out for signature campaigns for years and has gained lots of reputation among the bitcoin gamblers.

4. Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread - One among the most active topics in Gambling subsection which helps gamblers a lot in placing bets and having a deep insight on the Test Cricket.

Note that, I have gambled rarely and have little knowledge on gambling. So kindly do your own research before gambling. I will try to update more links soon.

7. Freelancers

Freelancing opportunities provide a major relief to the unemployed youths in our country. If you are a content writer, Designer, Translator, Developer you can post your services in the Services board of bitcointalk and can provide services for bitcoins or other alternate cryptocurrencies.

1. Services - This is one among the popular boards of bitcointalk where people from various countries all over the world work for bitcoin and host their services. So if you are well versed with something like programming, video creation, image designing, painting, BBCode designing Services board could serve you well.

8. Communities

Many of the Indian bitcoiners are facing to connect with the Indians of similar interest in bitcoin and crypto on the whole. The communities will help us to get more connected, will help us in clearing doubts on the legality, usage and adoption as well. So, newbies and newbies at heart if you are willing to find fellow Indians of similar interest to help you these are some of the important communities to connect with Indian bitcoin enthusiasts.

1. IndiaBits - So most of the Indian bitcoiners should be well aware of IndiaBits and their contribution to the Indian crypto community. The TG group has some of the prominent members ranging from developers and traders who could guide us with really helpful thoughts. They have recently created a forum to discuss about the Indian crypto goings as well.

2. Coincrunch - Though I am not really aware of this community, they have been suggested by many to be one among the active Indian communities which have been promoting bitcoin to Indians. They have a website as well which provides up-to date news on Indian crypto goings.

3. Cryptokanoon - If you are not a shitcoin maximalist, you should have well known about cryptokanoon channel in YouTube. The primary goal is to educate the fellow Indian bitcoiners on the legal issues and taxation sort of news etc. They have recently created a TG group as well for discussions.

4. r/BitcoinIndia - Unofficial Reddit Page dedicated for Indian Bitcoin Community. The community page was created 6 years back and they are being poorly managed and with the Indian regulations and bans, there hasn't been any good topics being posted there.

Credits and Revision History

This is just an initial draft which puts together all the ideas I have analysed so far which can be much helpful to the Indian people as a whole. Taxation, Legal Laws and other's would be periodically updated by discussing with other members of the community.

22  Other / Meta / Heisenberg's Merit Source Application for the Indian Board on: June 21, 2019, 05:31:59 AM
With the recent spikes in the bitcoin prices and the increase of good discussion taking place in the Indian Board which deserves merits, I would like to apply as a merit source for spreading out my smerits in the Indian Board. The Indian Board has been dormant with very few discussions taking place over the course of bear market. Other than that the board was an abosulte trash with the fake translators dominating the board. For past 1 year there was no moderator for the board which deserves one during the recent times since the board being much more active than it was during the last year. I have spent most of my smerits to the best posters in the Indian Board who are thriving their best to bring back the board to its normal state as it was 2-3 years back and when Benson was in control of the board.

I don't quote myself as an established member of the community since that is based on other's opinions on how established I am. I don't post much in the Indian Board but I do visit the board daily to merit a few good posts and report some. I am active in the forum for most of the time roaming around the Indian Boards, reporting spams and meriting a few good posts. I am the top smerit sender in the Indian Board by spending around 42 smerits and the smerits which I have now are inadequate to give to the posters who deserve much more than they are being merited now by me.

Apart from that, I along with other prominent Indian forum members have exposed fake translators and here is the thread for that : .Overview of Fake Hindi Translators in the Indian Board. Since they weren't tagged by DT, JSRAW tagged them and in return I and erikalui received negative tag from one of the exposed translator's alt account. Putting the drama aside, I have proven to be trustworthy by doing few successful trades in the forum and spreading out most of my merits to various members in the forum. According to bpip data, I have given 186 merits to 97 profiles where 42 of them having been spent in the Indian Board and I am 143rd top merited profiles in the forum. There has been an increase of good discussion in the Indian Board recently and if being selected as a merit source, the posters would get much more interest in posting higher quality posts.

Aside from the Indian Board, I visit the Development and Technical Board quite often and merit a few posts there. But there are a handful of merit sources visitng that board, so I have limited my smerits mostly to the Indian Board and it's child board.

I have collected 10 of the best recent posts from the Indian Board which were worth deserving more merits. Side note is that, most of them have been merited by others since the good posts are scarce enough in the board. India is a country were people speak large set of varied languages with English being the common among everyone. You can read my detailed post on what the Indian Board lacks in terms of receiving merits and being active for a better insight.

Correct! It's open for both sides. All governments of India had the resource to manipulate things but did it effect us? The Death of Shastri or the relation of Indira Gandhi didn't effect the common mass in big way! Our daily life remained the same!

The death of Shastriji is what led to INC getting split, the Kamaraj faction losing out==>South Indians losing their intellectual role in INC (One of the biggest losses to our country if you ask me, just see the kind of visionaries South India could have given Congress), Indira Gandhi coming to power and establishing the "Congress High-command" system (Read about how she used to change CMs in Congree ruled states at her whims).

When the K. Kamaraj faction was kicked out; politics, bureaucracy and whole Indian polity was left open to the scourge of sycophancy and corruption. Indian bureaucrats in Pre-Independence and up unitl Nehru era used to be men of honor with a firm belief in the Indian identity and the need to take all people together for socio-economic reform. This was replaced by an the opportunistic/ despotic approach of Indira Gandhi who just tried too hard to fill her father's shoes. (Read about how even international media thought that "Who after Nehru?". Indira was nowhere in the running. All her blunders can be ascribed to her desperation to measure up to the expectations of a renowned father). It was Shastriji's death and Indira's taking over that led to the complete degradation of moral fiber in our politics. (Lets not even talk about how her favorite son Sanjay Gandhi was a bully and anarchist and how she declared emergency and corrupted the soul of India).

Don't believe what I say because its just a perspective. Read what the sycophant-in-chief Ramchandra Guha says about Indira's times in his book (India after Gandhi). You may have to read a bit between the lines while keeping yourself open to the idea that not all right-wing revolutionaries of India were religious fanatics (The way it has been portrayed in front of the common Indian in media for decades).

It is easy to say that it "didn't effect the common man". These are in fact the events that led our country into the divisive state that we are in today. We were made to doubt our own society and history.

Due to demonetization, millions of people lost their jobs. Thousands of small companies got closed down while the majority of the benefits were passed to certain big conglomerates. Take example of BSNL and JIO - a government run telecom provider doesn't have access to 4G spectrum while a private company is making billions in profit with the same spectrum.
I completely agree that demonetization was a fiasco, though i don't believe any conspiracy theories behind it. It was the typical Modi-style of sudden, spectacular moves. Agree about Jio but I don't see BSNL as the victim here. Airtel/ Vodafone/ Idea are what suffered the most.

BSNL is now not able pay their full time employees and delaying the salary since last 2 months! That's where common mass is getting affected.

BSNL being in the dilapidated state it is in today is not because of Jio. They have mismanaged their affairs for decades now because of the limitations of being a PSU (Sarkari workforce). You only need to see the CAG report on BSNL for that.

CAG RAPS BSNL. MTNL. This is in 2013, not because of DeMo..
BSNL gave undue favors to vendors.

If we want to, the can of worms will be opened from both sides! But that's really not the intention of this thread for sure, so I will stop here. I still believe, demonetization is the biggest scam in Indian history which should be probed by an independent authority once the current rulling party goes out of power!
I am more than happy to discuss this here. At least it won't go down to the level of whatsapp university and Facebook debate..LOL (from both sides, left-liberal and conservatives). I am all for an unbiased probe into such allegations of scam. It should be done to clear the intentions and history.

As always amishmanish deserves much more merits than most of them in the Indian board and I can vouch for his excellent posting and his contribution to the Indian board.

You are right about the political machinations that lead Jinnah losing prominence in INC. It was differences of political methods between Jinnah and Gandhi-followers. Jinnah's approach was the sophisticated, anglophile one of securing "political concessions" within the fold of British and gradual independence. Gandhi on the other hand proved to be politically much more cunning and in touch with the Indian masses as he touched a cord with his "going back to roots" philosophy. This is what truly made it a mass movement as the faithful, poor masses submitted themselves to the bhajan singing Mahatma.

We cannot blame anyone particularly for the religious polarization though. It was fanned by the British and both Hindu and Muslim leaders played in their hands. As history would have it, Jinnah himself became the catalyst as he put up his demand for a separate nation and choosing to use faith as the motivation to rally Muslims (probably taking a leaf from Gandhi's book).

Sure Pre-nehru era had its fault .Yet, i am talking about the way that not just politics but more importantly, bureaucracy and general public life fell to sycophancy and opportunism once the prodigious daughter came into her own. She was the one who committed the original sins in Judiciary (Appointment of A N Ray as CJI bypassing the senior most bench judges), declared Emergency. This solidified the thought process that you can have your own way if you have enough political power or know the right people.

--snip--
What i was trying to tell is that, there might be a few people in an ocean that are pure to their heart on what they do, but the majority are corrupt and only when the majority is true to what they do, you wont see any change.
Politics maybe a cesspool of corruption but this constant refrain against politics has not helped us so I just wish to point out the positives.  The majority will always be corrupt and suffer from moral degradation but it is always that one man or that small group of person chipping against oppression and injustice that deliver change. Gandhi, MLK Jr, Nelso Mandela, were all drops in the ocean.. Smiley So we should also focus on them rather than the collective..

Hey guys,
I know there are few threads discussing about the taxability of Bitcoins in India already however I would like to raise some different concerns. If you are Crypto Earner too, must read the whole post. I tried to be very informative by taking my own case as example:

Upto the PY 2017-18, Exchanges were operating in India. I used to sell my Bitcoins on Zebpay and Unocoin. I am not a trader, I haven't bought Bitcoins directly from my bank account ever except once in 2016 when I bought Ethereum worth few thousands in rupees. So I fill my Income Tax return as an income earner. I showed Bitcoin earnings as income and filed it as the professional receipts under Section 44ADA.

But that's not possible from PY 2018-19. Why? Because Exchanges no longer operate in India. Now my Bank Statement doesn't have a separate record of incoming-remittance as it used to be earlier when credits were marked from Zebpay or Unocoin. It was easy for me to categorize any credit as income because it was from Zebpay's bank account or Unocoin's Bank Account. But in past year I only used P2P. Now when we sell on P2P, the amount in bank is credited by some other buyer who is also Indian resident. Now in this new system, it is impossible to show Bitcoin earnings as income because buyer is not your employer, not a medium like Zebpay and not connected to your work at all.

In such a scenario I can only see following ways out:
1. I should file my income as Capital Gains where I can mark Cost of Acquisition to be NIL and file either STCG or LTCG on whole amount which has been credited to my account in previous year from buyers.
2. Carry on with my existing practice of showing credits as receipts and pay tax under PGBP. However, in this case I won't be able to provide any bill if I received Notice from Income Tax Department.

Are you facing the similar situation? If yes, then what have you decided. If no, then too share your views. Let's have a quality discussion as it is serious matter for Crypto Earners in India.

You have pretty well highlighted the issue, but I think the concerns have not at all changed even after the ban of exchanges in India despite of one thing that you just have to scrutinize your banks statements to find out which receipts are from bitcoin selling.

Let me explain, If you have filed the return last year in 44ADA with showcasing your receipts being professional in nature without an issue of invoice the same can still be done. Moreover the fact the GST registration limit too has been raised to 40 lakhs gives you a large enough window for not issuing an Invoice. Most of the freelancers hardly issue any kind of invoices to their clients. Moreover as bitcoin has no legal statue as to what it is whether a commodity, currency or medium of exchange we can use it as anything. So you still have two options available.

1. Show it as a business income and professional receipts if you are earning bitcoin from signature campaigns or some work. Don't forget to claim for som expenses as a reduction.

2. If the receipts are larger than 40 Lakhs then it's better to take up a GST number. issuing invoice is never a problem and with an income of around 40 Lakhs an accounting software won't hurt that much.

I have sometimes sold BTC for INR face to face. In these days, I was not too much familiar with all the available ways of trading btc.
In case someone is doing face to face deal, I don't think there's any payable taxes since no bill is there.
In most cases, I didn't hold bitcoin for long term. Can I count it as Capital gain too, I'm not much expert on these stuff. Is there any limit which will not be counted as capital gain even if I have gained a little profit?
As per law a capital asset is a property of any kind whether for business or not. So you can regard bitcoin as your property thus a capital asset. If you have made a little profit better show its Sale Amount - Purchase Consideration = Profit . Pay Tax at this profit in form of Short term Capital Gain to stay on the safer side. Webtricks very well highlighted the slabs for it

Make sure to accept the proceed of your crypto sales at a current account. Keep note of all the transactions. Pay tax as per presumptive taxation rules.

I did file my return under 44ADA as presumptive taxation last year because it was possible to trail back the source of income via Zebpay account. I can easily differentiate my crypto receipts from other receipts because they were credited from Zebpay account. But this year, receipts have come from personal accounts of buyers because I sold on P2P exchanges. Hence, it is almost impossible to differentiate which are actually crypto receipts and which are not. In such circumstances, I have no evidence to trail back transaction to my crypto earnings. Income Tax Department will surely not believe my return on mere words.

Tracing back transactions is not that difficult trust me. You just need to get your annualized bank statement which does mentions the name of the sender that will make it much easier for you to trace whether it's an income or merely a casual receipt. Even if you are unable to do so using this method try to get a statement from the P2P methods that you have used as far as I know wazirx, bitbns, koinex loop, remitano all provide with such statements. Even if you are unable to trace out transaction due to huge volume of transactions including the personal ones(which I don't think might happen with a saving account). Better just make a rough estimate of how much earnings you might have received from Crypto such as a percentage of total receipts. Every statement has total Receipts columns just apply a roughly calculated percentage make sure to be on the upper side to be safe. This would be the best solution with zero problems.

Moreover, If you have high volume of transactions, I would recommend you make a separate saving/ current account for your crypto related receipts from this year making it way easier to trace out such transactions just like normal businesses do. You will save yourself a lot of headache.

(Image source) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_number_of_native_speakers_in_India

.....secondly its not easy to trust someone who says he will deploy miners in a country thousands of miles away. It smells of a scam and even putting that aside most people who did this model have given up due to how unprofitable the market became.

Scam and profitability, agree with both the points. About scam, its actually really not that hard to find information about anyone these days which is why I have been growing business with remote people. I am from BITS, worked for GM in India and then moved to US for masters and job at Cummins. I have had online presence since 2003 pretty much and have strong roots/community in both India and US. I would imagine most scammers would surface for a short duration and would lack a long history. And yet, there are far more ways to validate someone. I haven't been scammed (hacked yes, but not scammed) in online world for last 16 years and I assume the same with most others. Smart people can see a scam from miles away.

Profitability has gone down as well, which is why its allowing business like mine to sustain paying industrial electrical rates compared to hobby miners on residential rates. Last year, collocation facilities were abundant but now most of them have shut down. Even though they were having good rates, I can see that inefficiencies in the operation killed them along with low profits. Hosting is really not that lucrative, you barely make much considering how much overhead electrical consumption you end up having outside client equipment. Being solo, and able to handle everything myself..from buying, building, deploying to management, maintenance, troubleshooting allows me cut my overheads and just that I have experience to make the operation run efficient is letting me keep my head above the water.

Big farms were thriving when they were able to sell daily and make profits. Right now, I believe its perfect time for hobby miners who dont sell and instead HODL. Today's lower profits means absolutely nothing when you are not selling, as long as its positive. A big farm like me (apart from clients, I have my own farm too) cant HODL anymore because of my electricity expenses would be too high to sustain long term.

I am looking to build a trusted channel to be able to sell in India but in my recent visit (I was there for first half of Jan), I learned that mining is almost considered illegal so that hardware trading would still take a time. Now that would make me seek miners who still might be interested in this crazy idea of "someone else running their mining equipment a thousand miles away" Smiley I know, as much as crazy it sounds, it probably is not too far from Genesis running your cloud contracts. Once trust is there (which can be built with due diligence) it doesn't matter if you are located in next town or across the globe. Remote access would be same.

Btw, here is my website. I need to update few more pics though Smiley http://mysticdigital.io

So, I have seen a lot of people asking questions regarding the Taxability and disclosure requirements about their Bitcoin Income. As we all know the return filing date is coming. So I would suggest you with ways of disclosing your bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies Income earned in Financial year 2018-19.

Remember to save yourself from hazzles only pay taxes on cryptos which you have redeemed in Bank. Anything held on exchanges such as Koinex, Bitbns, WazirX still counts as crypto assets not sold. So you don't need to pay tax on that. Pay TAX on "₹" That you have received in your bank account only.

So, there are a list of sources as to how you can earn your bitcoin Income:
1. Earnings from Signature Campaigns, Bounties & other Services Rendered.
2. Earnings from Regular day trading profits.
3. Earnings from Crypto Investing(Crypto brought before 2018 but sold in 2018).
4. Earnings from any other source.

1. For Bounty Hunters and Signature Campaigner: If you have earned any income from such sources and redeemed it on an Indian exchange. Its better if you show yourself as a Digital Marketing Agency and file your return under Profits and gains from Business. In this way you will be able to take advantage of "Presumptive Income Scheme" in which you can declare your total earnings and even subtract some expenses such as Internet Cost, Electricity cost etc. better ask your CA regarding it. So if you have earned received for eg. ₹200,000 in form of Receipts from signature campaigns you can deduct some expenses and file a return under 44ADA.

2. For Regular day trading profits.: If you are involved in regular trading of cryptocurrencies and have redeemed something in bank Account then you need to pay taxes on it. Remember don't Disclose this income under Capital Gains. You have to disclose this once again under profits and gains from Business but you can't opt for presumptive Income Scheme. Just ask your Accountant to make you a profit and Loss with Balance Sheet and file your return by paying tax at normal Slab Rates.

3. Earnings from Crypto Investing: If you have sold some crypto assets throughtout the year like merely 15-20 transactions with their profits its better you disclose such profits under Capital Gains. Remember you must have brought Cryptocurrencies using bank account to disclose income here. You can just show your sales Receipts minus the Purchase payment and pay tax on profit as short term capital gain.

4. Earnings from any other source: In general I don't think there is any other source of earning. Even if you have earned something from giveaways or something just show it under your income from other sources showing it as "CRYPTO RECEIPTS". Pay tax at normal slab rates.

I think I have covered all the major sources of crypto earnings. If you have any other query a PM is always welcome Smiley

...snip...

Absolutely right that this benefit is only available to people notified U/S 44AA(1)
Quote
Now section 44AA(1) says,
(1) Every person carrying on legal, medical, engineering or architectural profession or the profession of accountancy or technical consultancy or interior decoration or any other profession as is notified by the Board in the Official Gazette' shall keep and maintain such books.
Yes this is what is written under 44AA(1) which says any other profession as notified by board in official gazette which has notified Information Technology Services. Signature campaign and digital marketing( The broad domain of bounty hunters) falls under this category.

Now your interpretation of 44ADA is horribly wrong. It only takes out the notified services from 44AA(1) not the clause of maintaining books of account, it contradictaly states that

Section 44ADA(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in the foregoing provisions of this section, an assessee who claims that his profits and gains from the profession are lower than the profits and gains specified in sub-section (1) and whose total income exceeds the maximum amount which is not chargeable to income-tax, shall be required to keep and maintain such books of account and other documents as required under sub-section (1) of section 44AA and get them audited and furnish a report of such audit as required under section 44AB.

In layman terms this means that one who is not obeying 44ADA has to mantain books of accounts as prescribed by you here
Quote
– Cash book;
– Journal;
– Ledger;
– Carbon copies of the bills and receipts issued by the person in relation to sums exceeding Rs.25;
– Original bills and receipts issued to the person in respect of the expenditure incurred.

And if we say that even people opting for 44ADA and 44AB have to maintain books of accounts then the whole presumptive income scheme becomes a joke.

Source: http://www.icnl.org/research/library/files/India/IndiaIncomeTax1961.pdf  Smiley

Alternatively showing it under other income sources may make such income more prone to scrutiny by Income Tax due to unclear disclosure while no one doubts on a digital marketing business that easily. Smiley

Thanks for reading the entirety of both writeups. It is good to get some feedback. The ideas are more of a log of what I felt the crypto movement originally was all about, bringing power and trust back to the people. Of course, I too do not foresee these ideas being embraced wholeheartedly by the establishment. Having said that, I personally feel that the way things are going, such ideas may start to find more acceptance in the long run. I have always thought that crypto adoption will not come until there are truly no other choices left and people, in general, have had enough.

As requested, here is a TLDR version of the two articles -

Part 1 ---

- Historically India is a decentralized country in terms of population diversity, culture, language etc.
...snip...
- In summary, decentralization goes way beyond a crypto-anarchist principle. It is a vital requirement for amazingly efficient, self-sustaining, self-regulating, autonomous and resilient systems of governance (humans included).

Part 2 ---

- King and peasant mindsets remain under the guise of democracy. As long as there is a supreme post of power, there will be a supreme leader with a top-down management style. Such management styles are highly ineffective for managing a place like India. With extreme centralization of power, there comes blind worship of a few blind leaders. However, with decentralization of power, there come more responsible leaders and enlightened followers.
...snip...
- A truly shared economy with resource sharing can be only possible with trustless, public distributed ledgers.

This should give an overview of the contents and ideas explored in the above articles.

Cheers!

Overview of Fake Hindi Translators in the Indian Board

As I have already stated in the moderator thread, the Indian board is currently getting out of control and the fake translators are translating almost all the announcements of the ico projects by using the google translators and other automated translation tools. Benson wasn’t quite active for more than 2 years and was removed from the position of the moderator a year back. Since the start of 2018 the ICO’s have become very popular and subsequently the translators are growing at an enormous rate in the Indian board. Either they have poor translation skills, or they don’t have the time to do a proper translation and be honest to their work.

Since, there isn't much of them willing to help me in trying to expose the translation abusers who are dominating the Indian Board, I have contacted erikalui for helping me out with this case. Even though, there are clear rules on using Automated translating tools is frowned upon in this forum, people tend to continue using them due to the lack of moderation in the Indian sub board.

Though I am not a native Hindi speaker, I have tried to contact some prominent Hindi members of this forum and expose these so called legit Hindi Translators. In the Indian board, the translators really don’t care even if the project has been proven Scam. They continue to promote the scam and receive their shitty bounty tokens which wouldn’t be worth even a dime. We couldn’t put the blame on the bounty managers since they are from different countries of the world and we shouldn’t be sure they would do their job of managing a campaign sincerely. Initially I was little bit hesitant to expose all these people. But since they are getting out of control and the board is getting worse, I was forced to do so.

This thread is meant to serve as a reference for the current translation abuses ongoing in the Indian Board.

Description:

anikt123:

I didn't come across this member quite often,  but they do seem to translate the sentences using automated translators and trying to grab the maximum out of the shitcoins.

Hindi translation doesn't make any sense.

Proof of stake shouldn't be translated but the translator translated it as "हिस्सेदारी का प्रमाण"

Original sentence: The ZROCOR network will speak to the api of RelateID, pulling and pushing transaction, KYC, AML, OFAC, and user data.

English version of the Hindi translation: The ZROCOR network will interact with API RelateID, to pick up and push a transaction, KYC, AML, OFAC, and user data.

Apart from this I have rechecked some sentences with the translator and they do seem to match.

boboshrish:

Being one among the top translation spammers flooding the Indian Board, this guy has a very poor translation skills and probably uses Automated translators for translating announcements and receiving the tokens. There isn't any real translation offered through his work.

Almost all of his translations are proven to be fake and seems to be translated through automated services which provides literally no use for the native readers. Probably there isn't at least one of them reading those shitty fake translations and as many of them pointed out it's just contributing to much more spam in the Indian Board.

I just checked the Cryptofy threads about 2-3 paras and can confirm that the hindi translation is incorrect.
There are many instances where I can say he used an automatic translator as for instance:

"right music" has been translated as "pasandida sangeet" which means "favorite music".

"at your fingertips" has been translated as "aapki ungliyon par" which is literal translation.

"you're working out" has been translated as "aap baahar kaam kar rahe hain" which means "you are working outside".

desi_translator2018:

Original version: In order to promote greater adoption of international merchants

Hindi version:

The user has translated "adoption" as the literal "adoption" with words like "गोद लेने"

Original version: Dash Platinum is a modern crypto-currency with security features, supporting high-speed transactions, minimum rate and 100% decentralized peer-to-peer transactions, offering ease of anonymity through Masternodes hosted worldwide, where none central organization or entity controls the currency, ensuring the ability to store, send and receive coins anonymously and securely through the use of mobile and Desktop wallets both online and between person with unique and minimal transaction fees.

The hindi version has broken sentences, incorrect grammar and even it has changed the meaning of the original sentence.

The Hindi translation reads "Dash Platinum is a modern crypto-currency with security features, supporting high-speed transactions, minimum rate and 100% decentralized peer-to-peer transactions, the ease of anonymity offered through Master Nodes is hosted worldwide, where no central organization or entity controls the currency, the ability to store, send and receive coins anonymously and securely through the use of both mobile and desktop online and unique and with minimum transaction fees between the person is ensured.

Mayur90:

This translator has changed many sentences and while doing this made them meaningless with too many mistakes.

This sentence: "यह कैसे संभव है की कुछ टोकन" should be "यह कैसे संभव है कि कुछ टोकन".

In this sentence: Currently, the tokens prices fluctuate all together in the same direction according to more or less rational concerns over the overall acceptance of cryptocurrencies but seldom around a specific business model adoption.

This entire sentence makes no sense in Hindi. "गोद लेने" was used instead of "adoption" which means "adopting a child" and here adoption means accepting rather than literally adopting. "Around" was translated as "आसपास" by Google and the translator which is the literal meaning but it means that the fluctuations are rarely based on a specific business model adoption. "More or less" should be translated as "कुछ हद तक" rather than literally "more or less" and hence entire sentence has been literally translated making it meaningless.

One more example:

This current situation shows us that traditional ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) don’t fit anymore the current need of investors and lack guarantees concerning the use of assets.

Google doesn't know what the sentence means and same does the translator.

The translator translated it as "This current situation shows us that traditional ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) do not rely on the current need of investors and guarantees concerning the the use of assets.

Prateek88:

With our light-weight mobile application was literally translated as "हमारे हल्के-वजन वाले मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन के साथ" where weight of a thing was compared to weight of an app.

Red: Google has translated the sentence as "sharing and collaborating data"when the actual sentence is "collaborating and sharing data" and translator has done this twice in the same announcement.

Blue: The translator tried to change it by adding "में" but instead made the sentence meaningless with wrong grammar when Google provided the right translation.

rangnatht:

Similar to boboshrish, this guy too is providing fake translations. Not just to bash him, but the Forum Rules posted by him is also an automated translation but I haven't reported them, since he was the only guy who took this measure to translate those rules in Hindi. Also, I was the one to report this topic to pin them in the Regional Languages (India) sub board. Not much people are aware of Hindi in India, as India has completely large set of languages spoken all over the country and English being the primary language followed all over the country.

- I would hereby request mprep to remove rangnatht Translation reference from the Unofficial rules topic.

- I along with some of the Indians members who are against these abuses taking place, requesting DT members to tag these abusers.

25  Other / Serious discussion / Interstellar and their theories of Black Hole on: April 23, 2019, 05:27:25 AM
Astronomy has always been fasinating and with the recent revelation of the Black Hole Photograph, we are getting even more closer in studying the worlds which we are still not aware off. It's been more than a week, but I am surprised no one has still started a topic on this.

To the people who are not really aware of what a Black Hole really is, it is just a place in space which has insane gravitational pull where even the fastest travelling medium Light can't escape through them (Yes, I am aware that Universe is far more faster than light and expanding at a rapid speed). Supermassive Black Holes like Sagittarius A's creation would be highly challenging for the astro physicists to find out, but smaller black holes are formed after the supernova collision probably.

Interstellar was just a breath taking and significantly more accurate move on studying habitable exoplanets, wormholes and blackholes in the near future. We are really aware that a Black Hole consists of Singularity or a point where all the absorbed particles get accumulated. But shouldn't there be a end for anything which starts in this universe? Is spaghettification really possible after entering the Black Hole? I have read that we would face a similar situation when we are entering the atmosphere of Jupiter and the astronomer would face a tragic end if he does that.

So I have some questions on Interstellar and the physics that were explained throughout the movie by comparing them with the recently released photograph!

[1] Is Cooper dead after entering Gargantua (a supermassive black hole in a near-by galaxy) which could be reached through the wormhole present near the saturn?

[2] How is he able to contact his daughter? I do know there are some speculative theories that when entering a Black Hole you could reach the White Hole which should be a entry point for a Parallel Universe!

[3] Cooper is a human and has a normal life form as all the other people on this Earth. But how he isn't aging even after being in Miller Planet for 23 years?

Need real insights and inputs from astro physicists and people having interest on topics like these.

Local Rule : Stake and Yobit spammers are banned from posting in this thread. Unless your post is really worth spending everyone's time, I wouldn't be deleting it. This topic is not for you to showcase your brilliant shitposting qualities.
26  Other / Serious discussion / Story of the Firsts - The events which triggered everything on: June 06, 2018, 04:52:31 PM
Beginnings always make history, as we all know. In every field of life, the position of ‘the first’, is hallowed. Time has given an ever permanent throne to the first, it never changes. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are growing at a rapid phase in the world economy. It all started on the evening of August 2008 when Wei Dai received an email from an unknown mysterious guy named satoshi. Bitcointalk has largely grown over the past few years and there are some considerable changes and events taking place all over the years in this forum and the crypto space. I decided to share with you some interesting first events which I found :

Yo, who wants to advertise in my signature space? I have insane posting rate, and I am the top forum poster. You guys got 7 days when this thread post was made to become the highest bidder and my new customer for one long month.

So how about it?

Bid: 5 BTC. Vladmir.

Bitcointalk is famous for signature campaigns and the marketing taking place all around the forum. The idea of renting out the signature space and marketing for earning few btc started back in 2010. These events are worth noting which lead to the insane amount of spam which are currently getting generated in this forum. I can’t find a thread older than this which relates to the renting of signature spaces. There may be an older thread, if you find please mention in the comment and I would update them. I even found a thread which may be the first signature campaign to be organized in the forum where the user paid 0.1 BTC for the people who changes their signature to advertise the OP's site.

Teppy wins this week. Auction for next week:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46492.0

If you have ever visited Auctions board, the one which you frequently see is the “Advertise on this forum” topic which is created by theymos weekly. There were around 246 rounds till now and it increases as weeks passes by. For a fee of 0.02-0.05 btc, ads are getting displayed beneath the first post of every topic page. But during the early days of the forum this price was 50 BTC and the first auction was won by user teppy.

I propose that we adopt the Thai baht currency symbol, ฿, as the official bitcoin currency symbol and BTC as the official bitcoin three letter currency code.

Bitcoin in its early days was never called as BTC in short. Rather it was called as BC. User NewLibertyStandard was the one to propose a symbol for bitcoin and the one to call bitcoin as BTC. Similarly, NewLibertyStandard has been a notable member in the community for creating the now defunct second bitcoin exchange.

Quote from: Gavin Andresen
For my first Bitcoin coding project, I decided to do something that sounds really dumb:  I created a web site that gives away Bitcoins.   It is at: https://freebitcoins.appspot.com/

Five ฿ per customer, first come first served, I've stocked it with ฿1,100 to start.  I'll add more once I'm sure it is working properly.

Why?  Because I want the Bitcoin project to succeed, and I think it is more likely to be a success if people can get a handful of coins to try it out.  It can be frustrating to wait until your node generates some coins (and that will get more frustrating in the future), and buying Bitcoins is still a little bit clunky.

Please try it out and get some free coins, even if you already have more Bitcoins than you know what to do with.  You can get some and then donate them right back; the address is: 15VjRaDX9zpbA8LVnbrCAFzrVzN7ixHNsC

Most of the members would have started their journey in crypto space by earning their first satoshi/bitcoin from a bitcoin faucet. Do you know that the first faucet was created by Gavin Andresen? The faucet claim was 5 BTC/ IP address. The site : https://freebitcoins.appspot.com/ is no longer reachable.

But I have found an archived version of the faucet here : http://web.archive.org/web/20100703032414/http://freebitcoins.appspot.com/  And to the surprise a forum member donated 1000 BTC for the faucet. Here is the blockchain transaction for the donation : https://blockchain.info/tx/149a3cab1d8ddcae55f472eb0ad2d10cd17650bc1480e266ff18de4bb31a1525

Namecoin is a naming system based on bitcoin with a few modifications.  It is inspired by the bitdns discussion and recent failures of the DNS.

The quick facts:

* This is a new blockchain, separate from the main Bitcoin chain
* Name/value pairs are stored in the blockchain attached to coins
* Names are acquired through new transaction types - new, first-update and update
* Names expire after 12000 blocks unless renewed with an update
* No two unexpired names can be identical
* Block validation is extended to reject transactions that do not follow the above rules
* The code is here: https://github.com/vinced/namecoin

Initially, two name spaces are defined - DNS and personal.  The DNS name space is targetted towards a new distributed TLD, possibly .bit.

Apart from bitcoin, alternate cryptocurrencies are growing at an enormous rate. The first alternate cryptocurrency to be developed was Namecoin by vinced (Vincent Durham). vinced creation of the first alternate cryptocurrency was based on satoshi’s idea. The discussion on creating an individual blockchain or a bitcoin clone was started here

Satoshi's idea

seems that the miner would have to basically do "extra work". and if there's no reward from the bitdns mining from the extra work (which of course, slows down the main bitcoin work), what would be a miner's incentive to include bitdns (and whatever other side chains) ?
The incentive is to get the rewards from the extra side chains also for the same work.

While you are generating bitcoins, why not also get free domain names for the same work?

If you currently generate 50 BTC per week, now you could get 50 BTC and some domain names too.

You have one piece of work.  If you solve it, it will solve a block from both Bitcoin and BitDNS.  In concept, they're tied together by a Merkle Tree.  To hand it in to Bitcoin, you break off the BitDNS branch, and to hand it in to BitDNS, you break off the Bitcoin branch.

In practice, to retrofit it for Bitcoin, the BitDNS side would have to have maybe ~200 extra bytes, but that's not a big deal.  You've been talking about 50 domains per block, which would dwarf that little 200 bytes per block for backward compatibility.  We could potentially schedule a far in future block when Bitcoin would upgrade to a modernised arrangement with the Merkle Tree on top, if we care enough about saving a few bytes.

Note that the chains are below this new Merkle Tree.  That is, each of Bitcoin and BitDNS have their own chain links inside their blocks.  This is inverted from the common timestamp server arrangement, where the chain is on top and then the Merkle Tree, because that creates one common master chain.  This is two timestamp servers not sharing a chain.

Hi, there is a new exchange service for Bitcoins.
It's called "BTC 2 PSC" and you can trade Bitcoins for Paysafecard codes there.
Until now, you can only receive € codes and I don't know if you can use them beyond the European Union.

http://btc2psc.bt.funpic.org/index.php

Edit: service is down...

Bitcoins were first exchanged for Paysafecard codes before they were traded for Fiat money. Bitcoin→Fiat exchange was first introduced by dwdollar and was named as bitcoinmarket.com. There are chances that dwdollar’s account may have been hacked recently in 2017 (due to the long time inactivity)

I have mentioned bitcoin as Electronic Cash since satoshi named it in his first mail and the source code was from November 16,2008. The current blockchain began only during January,2009. Interestingly, the source code had only main.h, main.cpp, node.h, node.cpp. There were no script.cpp ,the code was broken and consisted of errors.

I recently found the 0.1 source code on one of my computers. I can send it if you want it, but I'm pretty severely disabled these days, so it may take me a while to respond.

A cryptocurrency is incomplete without its wallet. The first Bitcoin(0.1) wallet software from February 2009 was the wallet where the first coins were mined. Hal and very few guys had the wallet apart from satoshi and he was the one who shared with us the wallet files.

The first trades for goods and/or services were not the now infamous Pizzas! I remember buying US postage stamps from NewLibertyStandard before Laszlo posted the Pizza trade. I suspect that other trades also took place before that time, they were just not made publicly.

Do you think Laszlo was the first person to buy goods with bitcoins? There were undocumented transactions which took place before the now famous pizza transaction. US Postage Stamps were bought for Bitcoins and the transactions took place between NewLibertyStandard and BitcoinFX.

I was very interested to read your b-money page.  I'm getting ready to
release a paper that expands on your ideas into a complete working system.
Adam Back (hashcash.org) noticed the similarities and pointed me to your
site.

I need to find out the year of publication of your b-money page for the
citation in my paper.  It'll look like:

You can download a pre-release draft at

Title: Electronic Cash Without a Trusted Third Party

Abstract: A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow
online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without the
burdens of going through a financial institution.  Digital signatures
offer part of the solution, but the main benefits are lost if a trusted
party is still required to prevent double-spending.  We propose a solution
to the double-spending problem using a peer-to-peer network.  The network
timestamps transactions by hashing them into an ongoing chain of
hash-based proof-of-work, forming a record that cannot be changed without
redoing the proof-of-work.  The longest chain not only serves as proof of
the sequence of events witnessed, but proof that it came from the largest
pool of CPU power.  As long as honest nodes control the most CPU power on
the network, they can generate the longest chain and outpace any
attackers.  The network itself requires minimal structure.  Messages are
broadcasted on a best effort basis, and nodes can leave and rejoin the
network at will, accepting the longest proof-of-work chain as proof of
what happened while they were gone.

Wei Dai, a computer engineer and the creator of B-money received an email from a mysterious guy named satoshi on August 22,2008 citing that he has expanded the ideas of Wei Dai’s B-money . Though satoshi has mailed Adam Back before connecting with Wei, Adam didn’t provide any e-mail conversations for public viewing.

Moderators of this section will:

Apart from Sirius and theymos there was a need for moderators to clean up the forum from the newbie spams generated. Hence on June 2011, theymos posted a topic for hiring mods. From the post, we can infer that one among the 10 members posted on the thread could have been the first moderators.I am not sure about this anyway!

Does anyone currently offer this service?I am looking to offer this amongst the payment methods for bitcointo.

Escrow services are quite popular in this forum nowadays due to the increasing rate of scams. Do you know the first Escrow Service was provided on July 2010? theymos even commented on the topic that he would provide the service.
27  Economy / Scam Accusations / ubonium.com [endorsed by aTriz] and brandnetwork.net a SCAM on: May 29, 2018, 05:25:21 PM
Bounty Managers and Bounty Hunters play a vital role in marketing of an ICO. If the Bounty Manager is a trusted guy, then most of the bounty hunters hunt for the bounties by marketing the project vigorously. Such marketing strategies force most of the investors to invest in a project. A similar situation occurred in forum already where a SCAM project was endorsed by a popular manager and a member invested in the project and lost his investment. This incident triggered lots of investigations against the bounty manager. Following this incident, the bounty manager ended up loosing his positive trust and has been very inactive in this forum now.

During this period I came across a SCAM project named UBONIUM which was promoted by aTriz by organizing a Bounty. Bounty Hunters began marketing the Scam project by joining in signature campaigns, facebook, twitter and content campaigns. I can't exactly say did the Investors really invested in this project or not. During April, suddenly the ICO of Ubonium was closed stating the hard cap was reached successfully. Bounty Hunters too believed and were expecting good pay in the campaign.

Bounty Thread for Ubonium : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3036847.0 Archived for reference
Ubonium Website : www.ubonium.com/

I searched for the Ubocoin in etherscan and ended up with the contract address : https://etherscan.io/token/0x51b3e8bc61e9c21e979468379d3147d6b955b79f

I further investigated for the transfers and found a particular address where 10,000 ubocoins were transferred. In the token Balances there was a coin named Brandcoin which lead me to a site www.brandnetwork.net

To my amusement the team involved with Ubonium and Brandex were both same and they have started their new ICO Scam which will commence in 2 days.  Grin Grin Grin Its really fun to see how badly the Brandex whitepaper was written and they copied almost all the lines from ubonium whitepaper.
I even joined their telegram group to check if the same scammers were managing both the projects and I ended up with a positive result that both of these projects are nothing but Scams.

Similarly they will hire a reputed bounty manager and announce their ICO and Bounty and the Bounty Hunters and Investors would invest their time and money in the ICO and lose them. Hope bounty managers won't promote the Brandcoins by reading this thread.

Signature Codes for popular Currencies

This was an idea I got when thinking "What it would have been if Vitalik organised a signature campaign in this forum for Ethereum?"  Cheesy

Signatures has been mostly popular in Bitcointalk due to the campaigns and ICO's created every day. Almost most of the members have joined signature campaigns and advertise the coin/token and receive some payment in return. If you are not a campaign participant and would like to support the popular currencies, here are some of the signature sets I have designed for Bitcoin and Ethereum to be used in your signature space. I will try to add more signature sets of top 10 coins in CoinMarketCap and if you feel like supporting a coin, feel free to comment below with the Coin name and I would try to make a signature for you.

The signatures has been designed based on the restrictions present in the forum. So you can wear them based on your ranks.

Case Solved!
31  Other / Meta / Can we have a separate board for Altcoin Technical Support & Discussion ? on: April 13, 2018, 01:46:40 PM
As days passes by, btc and other cryptos are raising in popularity day by day. Hence this forum is growing at an exponential rate where the number of registrations are increasing! Bitcoin Discussion and Altcoin Discussion is a pure spam area where people are commenting shit and gaining some post count and increasing their activity to meet the demands of the minimum posts for signature campaigns. Though genuine users who has a good knowledge in crypto are using the technical discussion board to  answer for technical questions.

Some of the members create an account here in this forum since they have somehow lost their wallet keys or to ask some technical questions regarding bitcoin and they get a positive technical assistance from technical veterans like Danny Hamilton, achow101 etc. One can see that newbies creates an account, ask for a help in Technical Support/Discussion and gets replied positively and leaves the forum that his coins were restored or he got the perfect answer for the long lasting question in his mind.

The same happens in altcoins too... Here too newbies create a topic for the sole purpose of getting technical assistance for regaining their keys or replies to their technical questions etc. But most of the topics doesn't receive a single reply and it eventually gets buried in spams and they leave the forum without their problem being solved. It is pretty tough to read some decent technical replies to questions in Altcoin Discussion and some questions are even left unanswered...There are some good devs in the forum who can help the people out their seeking help for their altcoins, but since the board is filled up with spams, devs not even care to visit those boards.

Some members may comment in this particular topic that this is not a altcoin forum to create such a board, but as you see that alts are growing pretty fast and the most commented board here in the forum is Altcoin (Announcement) board and Top 3 boards are occupied by altcoins...

Hence can a board be created in the altcoin subforum for "Altcoin Technical Support & Discussion"?

34  Other / Off-topic / Awarding Merit for quality posts [Newbies - Jr Members] on: February 14, 2018, 12:57:50 PM
My smerits are getting clogged up in my account and I am figuring out a way to merit a few to help Newbies and Jr Members in ranking up. I can clear up these smerits at a stretch in a day or two by giving to Sr and Hero members who have been making great posts, but I would receive a certain privilege if I rank up Newbies.

I have totally 19 merits to give for 19 quality posts.

- Newbies/Jr Members are the guys whom I will merit.
- Hence if you have made a quality posts and feel it has not been merited, kindly post it here.
- Highest merit I can give for a post is 1, as I don't have enough merits with me.
- Remember, only a newbie who haven't got past 100 activity points can only post here. If you have crossed 100 and you still didn't receive any merits, I assume you are probably a bad poster.
- Jr Members with less than 120 activity points can apply here for the review.
- Please post only 1 post which you feel better in the sense you can get a merit.
- Never try to post useless posts here.
- Only submit posts written in English.
- I will be checking your previous posts before giving a merit.
- Do not quote this post.

Once I have awarded all the smerits available I will lock this thread and again reopen it when I have gained a few to award.

35  Economy / Reputation / This member is a SPAMMER on: February 09, 2018, 03:47:04 PM
This particular member https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1780487 has been constantly spamming the altcoin section for past couple of days. Not even the moderator or any senior member considered this spammer and left him around to spam in the forum. Hence I left a negative trust on him. If any senior member or moderator feels this as wrong please inform in this thread so that I would take away the negative trust on that member.

36  Other / Meta / Top 5 Bitcointalk accounts on: February 05, 2018, 07:42:24 AM
Since the launch in 2009, Bitcointalk has hugely become popular among crypto users and many coin developers are extensively using this platform to promote their newest products.
Bitcointalk currently has more than 1.8 million users and this number will drastically grow in the following years. Like many other forums on the net this has become a place for many bitcoiners to talk about the current affairs in crypto world and can clear the doubts regarding cryptos.

Which accounts stand here for top 5?
Here's a list of top 5 bitcointalk accounts according to me. I have minimized the list to 5 so that it won't create controversy among the users.

5. Hal Finney or Harold Thomas Finney

Date Registered : November 30,2010
Last Post : August 09, 2013

The person who received the first bitcoin transaction from Satoshi. It was believed that Hal was satoshi but he never accepted it. Hal used to work in a company called PGP Corporation and was one of those people who used to regularly post on the cryptography listserv where Satoshi first posted his research. In his last days too, he kept on computing and working on a software named ‘bcflick’ to strengthen the security of the bitcoin wallet which was mentioned in his postin this forum.

4. admin

Date Registered:   November 17, 2009

The first account created in bitcointalk forum by satoshi for testing. Many of you may wonder what the 7 posts were? These were test messages which were made back in 2009 for testing that this forum runs correctly. You may find this 7 posts in staff forum section.

3. Sirius or Martti Malmi

Date Registered:   November 20, 2009

The founder of bitcointalk forum and the second bitcoin developer after satoshi. Though not a current developer of coin he manages the bitcointalk and bitcoin domains.

2. Theymos or Michael Marquardt

Date Registered:   February 09, 2010

The most popular man in bitcointalk world is none other than theymos himself. The admin of bitcointalk and also currently moderating /r/bitcoin subreddit this person became the most influential person in bitcoin community. He has been credited for creating the first block explorer, for generally contributing to Bitcoin's technical discussion and a lot more works. Theymos has done a lot to prevent this official forum from becoming low quality.

1. Satoshi Nakamoto

Date Registered:   November 19, 2009

As most of you would have guessed the first place is taken by Satoshi. The founder of bitcoin and the third registered user in this forum satoshi has immensely contributed to bitcoin which is currently the top and first cryptocurrency created. Satoshi has left this forum way back in December 2010 and has not shown up anywhere. No one knows who is satoshi and how he/she/they looks but his contribution to this world has revolutionized how payments were done all over the world and this invention will last forever and will be a milestone on history of this world.
This forum has been created by satoshi and the first post in this forum was done by satoshi. By introducing bitcoin he was the first to prevent the double spending problem for digital currency. It is claimed that Satoshi Nakamoto is an imaginary name, a pseudonym, adopted by the creator of Bitcoin. The search for the real Satoshi Nakamoto has been endless with one misidentification after the other, mostly created by journalists around the world.

Well developed social media Facebook is currently banning ads which promotes cryptos and ICO's saying they’re ‘frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.’ Earlier this month, Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg referred to cryptocurrencies and other technologies that decentralize power as a trend he was studying in 2018, part of an effort to correct problems on the social network.
While some enthusiasts took this as a positive sign for digital currencies, Zuckerberg wrote at the time that he was looking at both the positive and negative aspects of the technology.
These factors lead to the BTC go down nearly 28% in markets  Sad
