1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Bitcoin "cash" - price speculation on: August 14, 2017, 11:26:15 AM
I don't know if this is being considered an 'alt' or not -- i've stopped following all the crypto squabbling.
I've put it here since to my mind its still part of BTC - like some sort of crazy uncle who you nly see at Christmas.
No doubt mods will move if they disagree.

Anyway, I have noticed that I've magically been credited some BCH on Polo which is an extra $1K bonus. Cheesy Cheesy
Should I hodl or is it doomed?

Up or down from the current 300USD

If you'd like to promote Bitcoin by wearing one of the many memes associated with our favourite crypto-currency, then here's your chance.

You can buy any of the following from my Zazzle store.  Available in a range of colours and styles (long-sleeved etc) and customisable too.

Some designs are available as mugs to and designs other than the ones below are available via the link in my sig. If you want a personalised design then let me know via PM.

All designs are crisp, clean vector images created in illustrator by an unemployed designer.

For the next 24 hours you can get 15% off using this code

NB Zazzle gets the lion share of all sales, so if you know of a cheaper manufacturer - get in touch.

3  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-04-30]- the Guardian - Bitcoin Made Simple (video) on: April 30, 2014, 02:22:24 PM
Nice animation for noobs.

Baffled by Bitcoin? Confused by the concept of crypto-currencies? Well, fear no more. In 190 seconds we explain what Bitcoin actually is; where the idea came from; and the impact it's having around the world. Is Bitcoin the future of finance, a potential destroyer of the economy ... or just a silly slice of technical utopianism?

The usual suspects appear, SR, Gox etc but interesting to see how a MSM liberal tech. dept sees the last few years.
4  Other / Meta / So much spamming going on here...tighter posting regs/modding needed? on: April 16, 2014, 03:57:18 AM
I used to come here for news as well as contribute but these days its just endless spam from 'employees' of all the new btc blogs popping up eg
Ripdon007 'works' for coinreport
aliceHortrex for cointelegraph

I wouldn't mind but all these sites are doing is reheating old news.

Can you people stop doing this and come up with a more imaginative way of promoting your venture than spamming this board with old 'stories'.  Fellow users - do not click the links posted by alice, ripdon et al

Posters should at least be upfront and put the site name in the thread title as requested, so we can tell who the shills are.
5  Bitcoin / Press / [2014 01 31] The Conversation -For Bitcoin, regulation may kill the golden goose on: February 01, 2014, 05:54:19 AM
Aussie academic weighs in.

Bitcoin bingo?
Money laundering...check

This is a view shared in part by the US Treasury secretary Jack Lew and Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan. At the World Economic Forum last week, Jamie Dimon warned that Bitcoin could be used to fund terrorism and that regulation would essentially shut it down. Lew commented that having talked to Jamie Dimon, “he and I both share a certain incredulity about the whole phenomenon”.

So, a man who prints millions of dollars a day to bail out his country and a banker, don't like BTC....who'd a thunk?
6  Economy / Goods / BTC memes - tees and stuff available on: January 13, 2014, 05:36:08 AM
Wear your BTC with pride

A range of BTC meme merchandise is now available via my zazzle store.  These came about from conversations on the speculation board - so, if you don't visit there, these images may make little sense Wink

Each design has been hand-drawn in Illustrator with an attention to detail and an eye on humour.

Choose from:

Choo-Choo Motherfucker!!

To da moon!

Keep Calm and Hodl

Hardcore BTC Mining

Feathercoin Revolution

More stuff being added daily, so keep checking back.

NB zazzle don't take BTC but if you know of a similar service that does I'd be happy to move there.
7  Economy / Speculation / 2014 - A good year for Bitcoin because... on: December 26, 2013, 02:33:09 AM
I'm hoping perhaps forum members can share information about why 2014 will be a good year for Bitcoin.

Essentially optimistic/bullish fundamentals (although TA if that's your thing).

So for example:

The stuff they are doing in Cyprus is pretty exciting and could prove to be a model for larger countries including NEO-BEE, a BTC Bank based in Cyprus, opens it first branch in early 2014 and a university Masters degree in crypto at the national Uni is being offered from April. Cyprus is small enough to affect change yet has a relatively affluent society that, after the nightmare of the EURO, could embrace BTC.

Personally, I don't think NEO-BEE will last the year in its currents form - I suspect it will get bought out by a larger, global bank who wants to get a foot hold in the BTC market.
8  Economy / Speculation / Christmas trading/wall watching? on: December 23, 2013, 01:47:51 AM
Christmas trading/wall watching?

Will you be?

My situation at present means I have little to do other than odd jobs, gardening, dvds or BTC wall-watching.  Smiley Grin  Smiley Grin
Which to be honest is far preferable than the 'traditional Christmas'.

I'm thinking Christmas may either see very thin trading or that there will be some unexpected movements due to either some wanting to get ahead of the market or some injudicious drunken trades.

11  Other / Off-topic / Behaviour on the Speculation board: women not welcome? on: November 21, 2013, 12:05:34 AM

Are there actually any other women here?

Everyday I wake up and check the posts on the Wall Thread and all that's gone before are (given the time zone) US men measuring their cocks and posturing.  Really guys a Freudian would have field day with some of you. I appreciate speculating is a male dominated area but you have to be so Neanderthal.

I've been reading these forums since almost the beginning and fought the urge to join because internet forums tend to be frat houses in general but at least now I can press ignore on the massive flacid egos like Walsoraj, Crumbs, Pannakke (do you even mine?) or TERA.

Since I've joined I've tried to be helpful and polite, offer some insight where possible (gosh can a noob know anything or be anything other than a spotty adolescent), tried to join in the back slapping, I've sent hopefully helpful PMs to people who have asked for information but most users don't reply and only a small percentage are actually polite - its as if your join date equals your social class.

Yet, you want the rest of the world to adopt BTC - well, I've got some news people love being treated like women especially...we find it such a winning business strategy. That comes in heavy irony tags for those of you a bit slow on emotional intelligence.

The only positive from the last 8 hours of the above thread is seeing Chodpaba again....hurrah for a polite, sensible and considered voice - I wish you'd restart your Peak/Reversal Watch thread.

The rest of you - try respecting each other and especially newcomers - the world is watching you/us now, you/we are ambassadors for Bitcoin, try and behave like adults.  And perhaps a few less "I'd fap her" and soft-porn images would stop the general tone that you are basically a bunch of bitter, middle-aged, sexually frustrated, misogynistic geeks.

Just a thought Kiss

PS.....and no I'm not a dyke, or not getting any etc etc...happilly married for 14 years.
12  Other / Meta / Issue experienced when registering on: November 09, 2013, 02:12:47 AM
I just wanted to score up some issues I experienced when registering, especially in light of the recent attack on the site and the changes that were implemented.

1. The system advised me that there was already an account connected to the email address I supplied - except there isn't.  Perhaps my late-night alter-ego?  So, I asked for a lost password email but that didn't arrive.  So, I used an alt email address in the end but quite strange/disconcerting.

2.  The CAPCHA box was difficult to read so I requested a new one but the same one kept being presented, which was both frustrating and not a great spam deterrent.  Perhaps this was linked the issue one.

NB I'm a long time lurker and only registered because I needed to PM someone...apologies for being anti-social Undecided
