1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 21m bitcoin limit? on: June 02, 2011, 09:37:54 PM
I've read a lot about bitcoins and how they supposedly suffer major deflation when they reach 21 million in count.
Please, if any, link me to some standard English site describing this. I can't find any information comprehensible for noobs like myself.

1 bitcoin today would be worth 0.000001 bitcoin then?
How does this even work? I don't get it. Everything has to be changed the way I see it. Or I'm wrong and this is not how it will turn out. Please let me know.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Closing bitcoin? on: May 31, 2011, 01:05:42 PM
When I boot my PC bitcoin starts which is fair enough. Whenever I rightclick on it's icon in the tray, hit "Exit" the icon disappears. However if I open "Processes" in task manager it is still running, and Resource Monitor shows it's doing some disk operations.

I relaunch bitcoin, right click on the tray and hit "Exit", and now it does exit.
What is the cause of this? Are there any operations bitcoin has to perform on start? Or is this a bug somehow?
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Incredibly slow? on: May 28, 2011, 06:02:29 PM
Hello.

First off I'm brand new here, I've just recently found out about BitCoins and mining.
The problem is, I see a lot of posts where people get over 100 Mhash/s, while mine runs at 9.4 Mhash/s?

Can anyone please clarify the following for me:

  • What does Mhash abbreviate? Megahash or megabyte hash or something different?
  • Why is my Mhash rate so low compared to others?

I've searched around but I can't seem to find the answers.
I'm mining on GPU (openCL or something?)

My specs:
GeForce 9600 GSO 512
Intel E5300 (2.60GHz)
4GB DDRD2

I've tried exiting everything but it still stays below 10 Mhash/s

I'm sorry if I my questions are stupid or answered in a FAQ thread somewhere

Thanks in advance
