1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Something wrong with the blockchain? on: August 25, 2014, 08:46:12 AM
All of my transactions have been sitting with the same number of confirmations for a couple of hours... This isn't normal is it?
2  Economy / Currency exchange / Selling BTC: WU, bank wire on: August 23, 2014, 10:51:50 PM
Hello,

I need to convert some of my coins to fiat now. I'm selling via Western Union (cash only, credit cards can be charged back), or bank wire. If by WU, you'll need to buy a min of 1BTC. I may consider other payment options (PP, Skrill) from established trusted members ONLY. These are just the quickest way I can think of... if you ask why not use LBC - I don't anymore after having 7btc (when they were over 1k) stolen from me. oh, I do have a Greendot money card... but they refuse to allow me to use the codes to load card (made deposits from codes from around the US; like that's any of their business anyway, but whatever). But I believe you can also do a money transfer directly from your card. I'm not familiar with this.

Conditions:

* All deals discussed in this thread (obviously not personal info; needed for bank wire I believe?)
* Coins sold at current exchange rate (we can use Coinbase) - I'm not trying to rape you
* Buy pays escrow - must be established member agreed upon by both of us
* We can discuss a discount if you buy more than one coin

Hope we can do business, thanks!
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Content of wallet.dat - Bounty on: August 09, 2014, 04:45:07 PM
I need some help...

Long story short - lost all data on my hard drive and my external back drive.

I ran Photorec and recovered over 1 million files from hard drive, and if any of you has ever had to do that (so sorry)... you know the files are recovered with a generic name and most extensions are changed to txt.

Anyhoo - to locate wallets in the abyss, I can search the content of the files (grep recursive), but I don't have a freakin clue what's in a wallet.dat; never tried to open one.

That said - does anyone have some generic line of text from a wallet.dat that I can use to query a mil+ freakin txt files? I'm sure it's going to recover wallet.dat from backups, the trash, and even temp directories. I'm sure I'll have hundreds of wallet.dats, with only one being the one I need. So wondering... once I locate these files (fingers crossed), is there a way to identify the coin they belong to or date it was last updated or something?

Someone please help!

About the bounty - If you hadn't guessed by now my coins are on this hard drive. But I do have a lil bitchange in an exchange wallet that I'm willing to share.

We've all done a few things here and there that don't sit too well with us.

Care to share?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / BOUNTY - Mining & Hosting P2Pools on: July 28, 2014, 03:11:04 AM
Can someone please help....

Unbuntu server 12.04
Installed xubuntu GUI (I know this is resource intensive)
8 Gigs of RAM
8 core CPU

I have 5 r9 290s sitting idle on this rig because I can't seem to mine and host my nodes at the same time. CPU averages about 2% with 4 nodes and my website running... using under 3 gigs of RAM. I've had 7 nodes running and the RAM was just under 5 - not sure why it's so high? Or if that's the problem?

Anyways... even at 2.85 RAM utilization, everything locks up about 10 minutes after I start mining. I even tried setting the difficulty level to the lowest but to no avail. I can't say that it's memory because I have another 8 reserved for swap and it's supposed to start swapping at 80%, and I've never touched my swap. It's not the temps or the settings because if I can mine as long as my pools aren't running.

Anybody know what the hell is up? I waited months to get these damn cards, now I still can't mine with 5 of them because I also want to host p2pools. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not even soliciting my site yet because I'm stuck here. I don't want to publicize my nodes when I might have to take it down constantly while this issue is being (trying to be) resolved. Should I just create a VM on this server to mine? I can't find the problem and it's consuming me!

Oh, and a nice lil bounty for the one who solves this nuisance for me. I'm good for it... see my red thread.

edit - I run the coinds not the full wallet - if that makes a difference? Can say I've noticed one though.
6  Other / Meta / Username change request on: July 25, 2014, 07:33:59 AM
I'm not sure if this is possible, or if this type of request is even allowed....

But I'd like to update my username. Obviously I'm not trying to hide anything as I want to maintain my post history/feedback.

Justification: I'm almost ready to launch my website and I want my username to reflect it. I didn't want to post it prematurely but here's link:

http://altcoinp2pmining.com/

I have a few p2pool nodes running and I intend to add about 10 new coins this weekend.

Thoughts?

7  Other / Off-topic / Mining ** Takeover in Progress ** on: June 13, 2014, 05:47:24 AM
Just a short story for you guys. But first a quick message: Content is not suitable for all audiences. Pick the group you fall in below. Then go from there.

The Id-Riddens & The Closed Minded:
This is for entertainment informational purposes; not intended for otiose discourse.

The Clueless & The Curious
This isn’t new or impossible. Clueless, become Curious - the super information highway awaits…. ‘softly’ censored (as “They” call it), but the basics are easy to find.

The Suspecters & Conspiracists
Another case to add to the count. The lack of actual detail is deliberate for reasons you already know.

The Enlightened
This mind-blowing rabbit hole is so deep - I see why the majority actually embraces the shit meant to keep them in the dark.

** The Story **

The idea of crypto currency fascinated me the very first time I heard about it; consumed me. My Id finally dominated and for far too long. It was actually my most recent experiences I came to realize how Closed and one tracked Minded I was becoming. My lack of technical know how or motivation to seek more info played only a small role in the scheme of things. Credit to the Deceivers for their contributions, and to the Deniers, the pawns being used to facilitate mass manipulation. But being Curious by nature I learned a lot the past few days:

Miners never had - and will never have – control of crypto currency.

Up until this week I was completely Clueless - just like most. Countless tech support calls and even after having their equipment replaced, my mining rig could only maintain an active internet connection for a couple of hours at a time. And as of yesterday, all external traffic of a particular kind ceased. Nothing about my systems’ configuration changed, hell, testing out CPU mining from MAC was a futile mission.

Naturally I became Suspect because this rig has very little run time, it could still receive incoming traffic, and it regained outside connectivity once mining activities stopped. How strange is that? I’m no techie but my Curious self took control; so much in fact, that I found myself to the point of obsession. My bandwidth utilization isn’t excessive… I stopped downloading torrents years ago. It’s not firewall settings…

Well, evidently after a quick sniff of my miner’s packets, my ISP felt it was their duty to filter and block this shapely data from traversing their network. Now I’m in complete Conspiracist mode! You really expect me to believe that that fucking pervert is acting in my digital security’s best interest… after I’m forced to use their modem/router combo if I want high speed, and not to mention, this occurring a few weeks after Dish announces their adoption of bitcoins? Bullshit! What better way to acclimate to the populace? The jig is up – we know it’s those who control the world’s communication infrastructure are actually “They!” I guess after successful testing of the system in the wild for a few years, it’s about time to put the control where it should be, huh. Well, I’ll be damned if I’ll spend some 100% premined CableCoin.

And that’s just the start of the takeover.

Ok… I’m calm now, but I was heated the last few days. Hopefully this attempt to entertain Enlightened you somewhat; experiencing it certainly has for me. I’m not even pissed about it any more. My iPad’s LTE hotspot allowed my rig to put a few coins in my wallet the past few hours so I’m good... At least until my celluar provider gets a whiff. Assholes.
8  Economy / Computer hardware / I'm so out the mining game! on: June 05, 2014, 01:33:54 AM
Frustration is an understatement; and coming from every which angle. Scamcoins here, shitcoins there; forked chains and the works - hell, I might as well buy and hold. Aside from losing a lil interest, I honestly just don't see mining in my near future so my rigs are for sale, best offer. I don't mind dealing in BTC (escrow is a must!), but I'd prefer verified paypal/skrill/cash/money gift cards - but no other coins.

I'm not trying to make a profit, but I'll be damned if I'll be low-balled either - so just don't. I spared no expense gathering what I needed to set up my rigs... Ok, so the hard drives were hand-me-downs, but everything else is top shelf. I know I won't get what I put into them, but you can peek at my list and see I wasn't chingy.

I would prefer to sell as a package deal, but whatever. I'm too exhausted now to fully put down the specs, so I'll modify this post tomorrow, gotta get some shut eye. If there's anything that piques your interest, holler. But this is everything in a nutshell - set up is 5 cards per board:

10 r9 290s - 4GB... no OC and I got 3.5Mh each card using x11mod sgminer
ASUS Sabertooth mobo - no pci-e slot shorting needed. I plugged 1x x 16x risers right into the 16x slot and it took
MSI mobo (I have 2 of these, one I thought was bricked - read my rep, I gave a working board away)
2 AMD processors; not the el cheapo ones, 6 cores
2 1200w Consair PSU w/link dongle. ATXi - yeah, I went all out

A few other misc things:
shitload of powered risers 1x and 16x 16. maybe 15 of them total
hard drives
8 sticks of 2GB RAM - I was told I didn't as much but used 8GB per rig
external dvd writer
more PSUs I slaved to the Consairs
21 inch monitor
wireless keyboard/mouse
HDMI switch w/cables (don't ask; I ssh'd into the damn things but it did served its purpose)
Netgear wireless dongles - told you I went all out
120mm case fans; a couple glow blue
I'm sure there's more...

This is just what I can remember off the top of my head... don't want to post any wrong specs, so I'll wait to grab the specifics. These rigs have very little uptime, about a week total; still looks and smell new. I'll also post some pics too.

I sold my block erupturers on eBay in less than a week...I'd hate to go there again, but that's where everything'll be if I don't have any takers by this weekend.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bounty - Solo Mining: Ubuntu on: May 27, 2014, 01:11:05 AM
Finally starting mining - and bim! Pool down. Not a big problem but figure I can take this opt to set up solo mining. Tongue Who knows...  I might get lucky.

Well, Windows 8 turned out to be a big sham for my needs, so I switched to Xubuntu; and I admit I'm a total noob when it comes to anything linux (although I have the proper drivers installed and compiled the wallet all on my own, yay).

Anyhoo, solo mining was a piece of cake with Windows... not so much with Xubuntu; directions are few/far/between on the www.

Somebody, anybody who can get me up and running solo mining on Xubuntu I offer a nice bounty. Do check my previous bounties - I'm not the chingy kind.

While I don't mind a hundred posts on this thread, I'd prefer one on one consultation. Game on and thanks in advance!
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Quick Bounty - Riser Configuration on: May 17, 2014, 02:13:41 PM
Thinking that I bricked two mobos (I didn't tho) I went out and got another. One less slot and too many 16x! Anyhoo, I have more than enough 1x powered risers, but only 2 of the 16x and I have two rigs (10 GPUs) to set up.

Here's the thing - I know I can connect those 1x risers in those damn 16x slots. Question is - HOW? I tried all types of configurations but I get a blank screen if I use anything other than a 16x riser.

mobo: ASUS Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
OS: Windows 8
Cards: R9 290 - default Windows driver
Main Power: Corsair AXi 1200 (3 cards)
Slave Power: Thermalake 750 (2 cards - not even connected yet)

If it's possible to do with the USB risers, I know this is possible.

Anyone?
11  Economy / Computer hardware / Free MOBO!!!! No strings! -Closed on: May 15, 2014, 06:17:30 AM
Of course there's a catch! Why the hell wouldn't there be?

Long story short: I think I bricked them, yes 2 out of my 3 mobos. Two brand new MS 890FXA GD65 boards that never experienced the joy of mining (okay one did for about 5 minutes as a test). But all I did was uninstall AMD Catalyst drivers now the damn things won't even POST. I already tried to flash the BIOS; but good luck with that because the USB ports aren't working. The CPU fans spins and a lane of 8 blue lights gives off the calmest illumination... but nothing.

Now for the terms:

* It's a contest! Post something to make me LOL (I need this while I'm waiting for my replacements) multiple entries allowed but you can only have one
* If you manage to fix, you must post the solution (No one should ever have to go through what I did the past few days!)
* Two winners must promise to play it forward - do something for someone else, why don't you
* Oh - And you pay for shipping (it'll be arriving from SC) I'll pack it up nicely as if they actually worked

Anyhoo - I'm hitting the sack now but will check back later today when I get off from work.

Game on!

And no, it's not a bad CPU or PSU. I have two Consair AXi 1200w and tried the CPUs on another board.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bounty - Help w/ 5 R9 290 rig on: May 11, 2014, 08:43:52 PM
Okay - after a week of trying to do this on my own, I need help from the gurus here.

Mod-please move if this isn't the proper place.

Quick look at my setup:

MSI 890FXG GD65 w/8 gigs of ram
5 r9 290 w/powered risers

I tried various flavors of Ubuntu and Windows 7 but I can never detect more than 2 GPUs, that's using different versions of AMD Catalyst and different combos of slots. Also tried shorting PCI pins but it's being plain fucking stubborn. I've already killed one CPU (not even sure how I managed to do that) but I suppose it's a good thing I purchased 3 sets of everything. Anyhoo, I'm trying to set up 2 rigs with a total of 10 cards total. I'm starting to wonder whether I need to axe this MOBO and get something else?

Anyone who can help a sister set this shit up, a nice bounty awaits.

EDIT - I think this is supposed to be in Mining Support - Please move.

13  Economy / Services / Bitcoin ATMs coming to the U.S. on: February 20, 2014, 12:38:36 AM
It's been a while since bitcoins gotten some positive press.

More interesting than the article itself: the comments - boy aren't people oblivious?
14  Economy / Speculation / What if this is all just part of the plan? on: February 14, 2014, 04:16:10 AM
We'd have to lose confidence in BTC so that we'd feel better about adopting BTC2, wouldn't you think?
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Need Escrow Services for Transaction on: February 14, 2014, 03:16:59 AM
Any trusted member experienced doing escrow using Skrill as payment method for BTC? I could really use your services. Please post requirements here. Thanks!
16  Economy / Service Discussion / VirWox suspends BTC withdrawals! on: February 13, 2014, 10:53:01 PM
So I have a little bit of coins in my VirWox account that I'm not able to withdraw due to the recent attacks on exchanges.  Sad

Anyhoo - I'm just curious if anyone knows how the Skrill or Neteller withdrawal works? I see that some people are selling BTC in the forum for Skrill/Neteller; I'm just wondering if I'd be able to sell my coins and send the USD to someone else's Skrill/Neteller account; I don't have these types of accounts.

Anyone knows how this process works? Thanks!
17  Other / Off-topic / Up to .2 Bounty **** Sanity Check**** on: February 06, 2014, 02:28:18 PM
Yes, it's a real bounty. I want someone to conduct a sanity check on me, my posts actually. Not that I truly need validation; just figured this could be interesting (for me at least). I'll try to be brief, after all, you might have some extensive reading to do if you want to claim this bounty.

Background:
Either I don't understand, people don't understand, or there's some type of unknown communication barrier thing going on that I evidently don't understand. Anyways, I find myself having to break 'stuff' down into small bite size pieces just to get a point/idea across. WTF? .03 is what I offered someone who misinterpreted a point I made. I asked him to show me where I said 'it' for .03 btc. Needless to say he didn't even acknowledge my challenge, but kept coming back with trivial rebuttals. He didn't want the bounty so I'm offering it away.

Task:
Review my post history and tell me what you think. Do I make any kind of sense, do I just don't get it, what the hell am I missing? Do I put too much thought into it? Put your higher thinking level hats on and help me understand, it's your assessment. This task will require that you revisit some of the threads I posted/responded to get the whole picture. So simply going to my profile and scrolling my posts may not give you all the info you need.

Reward:
.03 btc awarded per contribution. The amount you end up with depends on how substantial the contribution is. Substantial doesn't necessarily mean length in this context. You'll have to explain your position, providing reference links if you'd like.

Bonus .05 - There are a few inquiries I made I felt were valid. Based on my perception, as your contributions are based on yours. If you find them and help me make sense of them, I'll give you an extra .05 btc. You'll have to find them all. This is not impossible; you'll recognize them when you see them.

Rules:
There's no limit to the number of times any one person can contribute and a post can contain more than one contribution. Repeating/rewording what's already been stated without further insight is not considered a contribution. You are free to ask me probing questions.

Twist:
Just to keep in interesting... Your contribution can be challenged by others and you can challenge others' contribution. The winner of the challenge gets the bounty.

Deadline:
I suppose we can give it a few days? Until the bounty is all gone? Let's just play it out, see how it goes. Bounty will be paid at the time of contribution.
18  Economy / Computer hardware / Sale Agreement: LuckyCris & repairguy on: February 04, 2014, 11:09:29 PM
This is just a pubic note that repairguy and I have entered into an agreement:

***********************************

Sale of following from repairguy to LuckyCris so that she can build her 15 GPU rig (yay!):

3 - Motherboard CPU Heatsink combo
12 - 1x 16x powered risers
1 - 16x 16x unpowered riser
3 - 40gb sata hard drive
shipping costs

$658 paid in full via PayPal today for all items. repairguy offered to give me the 40gb free of costs prior to making an agreement to buy other products from him. Paypal was the payment of choice for repairguy and he opted out using escrow although I said I would pay.

repairguy, please advise when you've shipped the items. And thanks again for the hard drives, you saved a nice lil penny. I'm returning the kind gesture by giving away one of my 2000w PSUs to an aspiring miner Smiley
19  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS or WTT 270x and PSU on: January 29, 2014, 01:07:53 AM
RULES of Engagement:

*** ESCROW by a trusted member is REQUIRED!!!
*** All deals will be handled in public view. Feel free to PM offers, but if we come to a consensus, all business will be posted in this thread.
*** No PP! I have 12 year old PP account and the last thing I want to do is blemish it with someone doing a chargeback.

Background:
After a cancelled order of 10 7950s, I settled to build my rig with 15 270x's instead. It'll cost me an extra mobo/cpu/psu/risers, but considering the inflated prices of GPUs now and the cost savings I'll realize with the 270x's, I don't think it turned out too bad? The 15 will actually yield a little more hash power and it expends almost half the power.

Anyways... I'm able to order 4 more of these GPUs which I'm doing just to raise a lil more so I can get a different type PSU for my rigs. I bought two DPS-2000BB 2000w server PSUs from eBay, and quite frankly, I don't have the confidence to configure it for my use - hence, they're for sale. I should get my shipment of 15 cards by this Friday (finally!!!), and I'll promptly ship, your method, your cost.

I have a couple of extras someone may be interested in; here's everything:

* FOUR (4) VisionTek Radeon R9 270X GPUs (not the best, but not the worse either) brand new - $239
* TWO (2) Delta DPS-2000BB 2000w server PSUs (no power cord) used - $40 OBO
* TWO (2) Corsair 2GB DDR3 sticks (1333MHZ version) brand new - $25

I'm not trying to rob you guys or make a profit, I just want to get my 3 1250w PSUs and possibly some fancy powered risers Smiley I'm selling these items for what it cost me, plus shipping.

I'll accept BTC/LTC/Trade/Newegg gift card
I'm willing to trade for 1250w PSUs (used okay with all cables) and powered risers; I need 12 1 x16x (these must be new, sorry).

***********
Can someone also explain how escrow would work in this situation; buy sends payment to escrow, I ship, they receive, payment released? Sounds simple enough, but how do I protect myself if the buyer says the item was damaged or they never received? I read a case or two some time ago but can't remember how it was mitigated. Literally, should I video record myself boxing the items?

EDIT - Just realized I didn't list the freakin prices! Added.
20  Economy / Lending / Loans and the acceptance of DOX on: January 16, 2014, 07:53:06 AM
First: This isn't a loan request - just an inquiry to satisfy my curiosity. Please feel free to move if necessary.

Some time ago I polled you all on whether you'd have more confidence in lending *if* the borrower could be identified. Needless to say, there wasn't much interest, but those who did respond said they'd only gain a little more trust to follow through with the transaction.

My question to you all is - Why isn't full disclosure of one's identity enough to secure a loan?

I've seen several people request loans offering their DOX only to get ragged on and collateral demanded. I don't disagree with collateral (please don't misconceive what I'm saying), I guess I don't quite understand why there's an issue with proof of identity. Yes, I know this community is full of scammers; I've been scammed (not here tho) and I've even called a few of them out. I also know that DOX can be faked. But is that the only reason for its non acceptance? I mean, if you know someone's identity (verified identity), couldn't you pursue criminal charges against them for breach of trust? Or make a small claims case against them? Wouldn't those judgements against a defaulted borrower have a more lasting effect?

Lets have a civilized discussion, please.

And for those who might be thinking I'm preparing to ask for a loan... shame on you. I'd starve first.
