1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Does adoption of the lightning network affect mining / staking payouts? on: January 26, 2018, 04:58:48 AM
If genuine adoption of the lightning network for a blockchain currency takes place, it would significantly decrease load on mining and staking for transaction support. It seems that would change the payouts in a significant way? Any good research on this yet?
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Guidance: Implementing a private and custom blockchain solution for supply chain on: January 26, 2018, 04:47:11 AM
I am meeting with a microchip manufacturer in three weeks to explore the idea of using blockchain as a solution to authenticate and track shipment of microchips from their manufacturing in Asia to customers across the globe.

Obviously, they could go commercial and buy in to any of the major startups working on this. After some discussion, because of excessive security concerns, they prefer to have someone they trust build a custom solution. Many of the projects have their work open sourced in github and perhaps we could fork or we can grow from the ground up.

There are some startups working hard on this. for example: http://www.blockverify.io/
I know that IBM is doing a ton on this specifically. https://www.ibm.com/blogs/blockchain/category/blockchain-supply-chain/ & https://www.ibm.com/blockchain/supply-chain/
There are a number of white paper and knowledgable debates. The questions is to find good working examples to leverage from: http://www.logisticsbureau.com/how-blockchain-can-transform-the-supply-chain/

Has anyone here actually build a custom blockchain solution who would be down to talk it through? Obviously my own education on this is just starting. We build a fair bit of custom software for global brands, but have not worked on any blockchain implementation.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Measuring pool potential? on: January 23, 2018, 01:18:39 AM
Has anyone found or created a calculator or algorithm which hits YIIMP's api to calculate what you would have made if you had contributed your mining hashrate to a pool over x timeframe? Basically, a way to try to weigh in the factors and identify the best pool? Right now, it feels like guesswork.

I'm only mining a single 1080 and can't decide if being a tiny fish in a big pool or a small fish in a small pool ends up more profitable.

Mining BTX, we have a few viable pools to work with.

bitcorepool.cc : no transaction fee : 1.5% pool fee : proportional : high volume
yiimp.eu : no transaction fee : 2% pool fee : proportional : high volume
supernova : 0.1% transaction fee : 1% pool fee : PPLNS : high volume
umine.org : ? transaction fee : 0.5% pool fee : proportional : medium volume
Psychedelic.fi : no transaction fee : -5% pool fee (not a typo) : proportional > soon PPLNS : very low volume.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / How to track down missing ETH (Cryptopia > Bit-Z) on: January 13, 2018, 12:52:46 AM
I withdrew 0.648 ETH from the Cryptopia exchange this morning and sent it to my ETH deposit address at the Bit-Z exchange. I have made the transfer successfully in the past.  The withdraw shows as successful on Cryptopia, but nothing has arrived on Bit-Z.

1) What is a reasonable amount of time before I panic? =) A full business day seems like a long time to wait.
2) How do I track the transaction to see what happened behind the scene? When I look on https://etherscan.io/ I see the account but it does not list the transaction?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Why is Cryptopia Market Paused: DeepOnion & Litecoin? on: January 07, 2018, 07:00:24 PM
Can someone explain to me what would cause an exchange to temporarily stop trading one coin pairing, in this case litecoin and deeponion as well as doge and deeponion, but not bitcoin and deep onion? The exchange has a "market paused" message. I'd rather not pay the cost of moving my litecoin to bicoin in order to trade.
