Ifeelgoods Raises $6.5 Million To Ride The Facebook Credits Wave

In a couple of days, Facebook will require game developers to implement its Facebook Credits currency, as announced in January 2011 (much to the dismay of some developers, although we should also note that several juggernauts, including Zynga, EA and RockYou, were already on board).

This morning, Ifeelgoods is announcing that it raised $6.5m to strengthen its offering ahead of the July 1 Facebook Credits implementation deadline. Ifeelgoods offers a platform that allows retailers to provide Facebook Credits as marketing incentives in their online stores.

Basically, Ifeelsgoods wants to make online retail promotions more effective (and less expensive) for sellers by having them hand out credits for virtual goods from popular social games in lieu of traditional promotions such as discounts, coupon codes or gifts.

The Series A round was led by Idinvest Partners, a European VC firm, and joined by Tugboat Ventures, which had also participated in the company’s $1.5 million seed round.

Ifeelgoods says it will use the additional capital to expand its digital goods incentives solutions to better serve existing customers as well as reach customers in new vertical and international markets. Since its launch in September 2010, Ifeelgoods has signed more than 20 customers, including 1-800-Flowers.com, Ice.com, Shopping.com and La Redoute.

These brands have implemented Ifeelgoods solutions to leverage digital goods, beginning with Facebook Credits, as an incentive for purchases, online advertising, Facebook fan acquisition, email signups and Twitter marketing.

Ifeelgoods is a French/American startup founded by e-commerce entrepreneur Michael Amar, former Shop.org Executive Director Scott Silverman and alumni from Google and PayPal.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Tradehill PR dude: are you going to answer these questions or not? on: June 20, 2011, 08:53:10 PM

I have a few questions.

Did you hire a Security Professional?  A real one?  What are his qualifications?  What kind of testing, tools and monitoring has been put in place?

Have you implemetned a realistic Security Strategy, like "Defense in Depth".  Is each layer of the IT infrastructure down to the database is protected with ACL's and the minimum privileges possible.

Do you require users to have good pwd,  at least 16 characters long, digits, letters and special characters along with digital certificates.

do you run your operations on a real Unix system?  Solaris or OpenSolaris are secure by default.  They are also "special " enough that not many hackers have expertise to penetrate it and it has very good support and Security features built in.

Is your system hosted in the cloud?

Are you using a well designed and professionally managed database?  Is this database being operated in the most secure manner possible?  Can you prove it and show evidence of an audit?

Everything should be logged and the logs monitored for attacks.

Do you offer all users a digital certificate with your exchange being the CA.

Is your entire operation behind a commercial firewall appliance and do you use a secure DNS?

What SEIM monitoring tools are in place?  You should have an SEIM monitoring solution from a reputable company.  I used AlienVault to gain experience but something even better might be a commercial offering.  Trustwave comes to mind that will audit your system and provide some certifications as to your compliance with all provisions of the NSA recommendations, and any other applicable authorities like the big exchanges.

I think if you put this in place and let it be known upfront what is going on then you could easily attract as much business as you could handle.  With the best security in the bitcoin exchange arena you could charge more for trades and still get more customers.  With as much security as mentioned here it should be no problem for a big insurance agency like Loyds or whomever to insure each account and each trade to at least 250K bitcoins at a time or better.

You are going to be the number one target if you are successful.  Plan on it and plan on getting hit and have a plan to recover.

This is going to be a huge business with any luck and being the most secure will get you all the business you handle.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / theoretically, can we achieve the below objectives all? on: June 20, 2011, 06:09:26 AM

For service such as Clearcoin, I guess such objectives should be all achieved.

back up frequently from the lose of the wallet.
keep it safe from outside hacking
keep it safe from the insider theft, junior level stuff. who has access to the computer of the exchange.
keep it safe from the CEO, CFO or other senior level stuff who might stole the bitcoin.
keep it safe from the sudden death of the senior stuff, which will make the loss of the password or key hold by the stuff.

7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Maybe it's time for some real entrepreneurs to raise some venture capital on: June 17, 2011, 02:30:33 AM
I mean start a business providing infrastructure services, a far more sophisticated services than what we already have. For example, Clearcoin.com is one of the most important services I think the bitcoin economy needs. However, it's still a one-man start-up, running on some app. engine, and down from now and then…… Hi, dude, it's business about money, wealth of the people, don't you think you're not serious enough? why not just raise some venture capital, and hire more people and persuade more smart programmers, product managers, marketing experts into the great adventure.

Guys, I really appreciate what you have achieved in the last two years. You created a  bud of new era. However, if you guys continue your old way of behaving, either will the bitcoin die, or will you be left behind by more entrepreneurial people.
