1  Economy / Speculation / Estimate for bitcoin value in early January? on: December 09, 2013, 02:09:50 AM
Is it likely to be back at gold price by then, or exceed it? I'm hoping it won't be much less by that time...I've made some plans that kind of depend on it.
2  Other / Meta / Cannot change avatar? on: December 09, 2013, 12:34:55 AM
Tried to use a custom avatar; wouldn't work. Tried to set Bob Marley as my avatar from the presets; wouldn't work. Is this a glitch in the site or do I just not have permission yet?  Undecided

4  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How far can I push a 7950? on: December 07, 2013, 08:40:40 PM
Currently have it over clocked at 1030 megahertz, with the intensity set to 20 in my miner. I believe it can go to 1100, but without upping the voltage, it crashes at 1050<. So how much of a voltage increase would I need to bring it to its peak? On a side note, I'm not worried about the heat. Right now it only ever reaches 70c, and averages 68c.

Thank you!

Like a fake bitcoin for hanging on the tree. Does such a thing exist?
6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Any thoughts on BFL's pay per GH cloud mining? on: December 07, 2013, 12:56:28 AM
https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/1-gh-cloud-hosted-bitcoin-hashing-power.html

Very inexpensive compared to CEX.io, with promises to be able to use it towards whatever pool you want. (Or so I gather.) Of course, it's currently a preorder, and BFL isn't #1 when it comes to being on time; so I have to doubt their launch date. Either way, I preordered one GH, just for kicks. If it proves to be successful, I may invest more.

So, any thoughts?
7  Economy / Speculation / Is Bitcoin realistically likely to rise to $42,000? on: December 06, 2013, 05:15:19 AM
I read an article somewhere that claimed the founders of bitcoin estimate the price will, at some point, reach $42,000. Could this be possible in the foreseeable future/is there a limit to how much it can be worth?
8  Other / Off-topic / Traveling across America on: December 06, 2013, 04:42:04 AM
Evening all!  :)

Sometime in January, (possibly new year's,) I'm packing a small bag and beginning my journey abroad the United States. I've been in speculation as to what my lot in life is for quite a while, and at this point I can't honestly see myself spending the rest of my life doing anything but traveling. It's in my blood. I don't see the point in continuing to rot away at a desk 50 hours a week, making minimum wage, barely paying the bills, and ultimately being unhappy with life.

My traveling will begin on foot in Florida, as I eventually make my way north. Through Georgia, and the Carolinas; Virginia and Pennsylvania, followed by New York and Vermont, and many other northern states. Afterwards I may head west, or, I might purchase a plane ticket going somewhere in Europe.

Wherever I travel, though I'm sure I'll find work, I greatly appreciate any donation, that will be put towards food and places to sleep. If you're kind enough to support me, I'll periodically update you with pictures of wherever I travel.

Have a great night!

9  Economy / Goods / Prepaid visa/mastercard? on: December 05, 2013, 01:15:40 PM
I'm looking for a prepaid visa or something similar that I can use bitcoins to reload. Also, it would be fantastic if it didn't cost $50 for a $25 card. Much appreciated!
10  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Custom cloud mining service? on: November 21, 2013, 12:56:19 AM
Is there any cloud system that provides a custom hashrate, to fit a more affordable budget? Cex.io offers what I'm told to be excellent service, but it's roughly $40 just for a GH. I'd like to go a tad lower, perhaps down to the MH/s. Cheers.
11  Economy / Lending / Requesting a 0.13 loan. on: November 17, 2013, 03:44:09 PM
Good morning! Wink

As already posted here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=336152.new, I'm interested in a small loan to be put towards mining equipment. Having read the "how to spot a scammer" threads, I'm aware my chances of being taken seriously are relatively slim. Some people mentioned Escrow as some form of collateral...I signed up there last night. Haven't a clue how it works. Smiley By all means I'm open to suggestions as to what I could use for collat.

Anyways, I appreciate your time.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Need some help getting back on my feet. on: November 17, 2013, 12:29:11 AM
About a year ago, I was big on bitcoin mining. I made a decent three or four bitcents a day, until an unfortunate accident damaged my (very expensive) computer. This was slightly depressing, as not only did I lose a supurb graphics card, but also my entire bitcoin wallet. I decided to take a break from the mining gig for a while.

The other day I felt like looking up the value of a bitcoin, and I gasped as I watched it pass the $400 mark. So, using my 7950 GPU, I decided it was time to get back in the game. Ufortunately, now I only make a fraction of what I used to. 0.00003 per block on average (Slush's pool.) A total of one or two pennies by the end of the day, not even enough to break even with the electricity cost. This is disappointing, seen as how it's one of the better cards on the market, and it's over clocked.

I really don't have a spot in my budget for an expensive asic miner at the moment, but the "pay per GH" product on butterfly lab's website caught my eye. I'd like to request a loan of 0.13btc to preorder 5gh/s of hardware from their website. With the equipment expected to be up and running by the end of the year, I hope it's understandable to request 4-6 months for a full return.

I've never asked for a loan before, so I don't have any references; but I'm an honest man and I promise to pay back the full amount asap, with interest if nessicary. Just let me know if you're interested, and I'll pm you with my new wallet address.

Thanks for reading; I appreciate any help!
