1  Bitcoin / Mining / 4th 5830 not detecting - Biostar 890FX on: June 11, 2011, 12:42:28 PM
I have two rigs, each with the same setup.
4 cards detect on one
Only 3 cards detect in the other
Naturally you'd think the failure point was the card itself, but I've individually tested all of the cards, including that one.
It's fine.

Could this be an issue with the motherboard? Or could it be the PSU?
Hard to imagine the PSU being able to pump enough juice for 3 cards, but not a 4th... Especially when I have the exact same PSU in my other setup.

2  Bitcoin / Mining / BFI_INT What does it really do? on: June 09, 2011, 12:02:23 AM
How much does this improve your efficiency?
The people who use BFI_INT get the same numbers I do, and I don't use it.
Is it just a gimmick?
3  Bitcoin / Mining / If you were Tycho, would YOU fork it? on: June 08, 2011, 07:00:06 AM
Would you rig the network with deepbit, if you were the pool operator?
4  Bitcoin / Mining / Shipping Mining Parts on: June 05, 2011, 09:11:20 PM
Just ordered some new mining parts and used UPS's guaranteed 3 day shipping.
The order was placed on the 2nd, their estimated delivery date is on the 8th.
Doesn't seem like 3 days to me, but then again I'm bad at math.
2-8 = 7 days
- weekend(2 days)
= 5 days
What the hell is the guarantee about?
5  Bitcoin / Mining / Massive Influx of New Miners on: June 05, 2011, 12:01:43 AM
There's a massive influx of new miners/people interested in Bitcoin.
I want to present some data to you all that you might find amusing.
So far today, over 370 new members have registered for this forum.
That is all.  Cool
6  Bitcoin / Mining / Difficulty Increase at 131040 - MASSIVE on: June 04, 2011, 02:41:31 PM
The next difficulty increase after the one coming Monday, I'm predicting/speculating that it's going to be MASSIVE.
Four things make me say this.
1. Recent coverage of Bitcoin on popular news sources.
2. The influx of brand new miners, as is evidenced by the forum. (Look at all the newbies that are popping up now asking for help getting their brand new mining rigs up.)
3. Major pools are seeing huge increases in their processing power.
4. The runaway pump on the open exchanges that's been happening over the past few days.

Anyone think we'll top 1,000,000 difficulty on 131040?
I'll start an open bet.
I think we'll top 1,000,000 difficulty on 131040.
I'll put 0.50 BTC on it.
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Strange Generated message in Bitcoin.exe on: June 03, 2011, 01:32:23 AM
I had a rig mining for Deepbit a few days ago, and the Bitcoin.exe program showed that it generated .223741 BTC?
How the heck did that happen?
I know 100% the GPU was mining for Deepbit, since the only file on that computer I have for starting poclbm is set to Deepbit.
8  Bitcoin / Mining / 4 Card motherboard on: June 02, 2011, 07:00:17 PM
What's the cheapest motherboard than I can mine with 4 cards on?
Including via PCI-E 1X slots

I want a board that is known to work this way, because some boards have issues using both 1x and 16x slots simultaneously.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Multiple Workers Question on: May 31, 2011, 05:30:35 PM
So, let's say I have an account with a mining pool.

I have three computers, and four graphics cards.

Is there any advantage to me, to have a separate worker for each card?
Because if I point them all to the same worker, I get the same total hash speed.
It won't make me mine any faster, right?
Separate workers are just for organization, right?
