There was huge hype of Augur this past year (moreso on /r/bitcoin), but it's died down as of recently. Last I heard, it was supposed to be up and running right about now. Anyone know what the current state is? I was intrigued by the concept (but did not invest) and would like to gamble on it some day.
For those who don't know, Augur is essentially a decentralized prediction market.

Hey everyone, what do your investments look like right now?
Personally, I'm holding GameCredits long term, as well as a bit of NXT. I've got some deposit money tied up in the ICOs for Waves and Elastic. I'm also trading a few altcoins over at yobit: CREVA, POST, VIP, and 007. I have some Billary as well and I'm also mining it. Of course, the majority of my crypto portfolio is still in Bitcoin. What are you guys holding on to?

Hey everyone, I'm a current High School Senior finishing up with the tail end of the college application program, and currently looking into scholarships.
Does anyone know if there are any scholarships available from companies or individuals within the community in regards to Bitcoin? I'm not exactly sure how likely such a thing would be, but I figure its best to at least ask! (Not sure if this is the right subforum, wasn't exactly sure where to pose the question. My apologies if this is the wrong section!)

Hey everyone. I've never invested in these Investor-based games before, because obviously it is a huge risk and ultimately the money ends up back at the house. However, there seems to be a dedicated community supporting the creation and continuation of these games, and I guess that is proof enough that some of the people here are profiting. Does anyone have a guide they would like to share that includes their methods/strategies to maximize profits and minimize the chance of losing your input?

Hello everyone, I purchased a forum account several months back. I was going to let my friend use it to earn some BTC, but he lost interest pretty quickly. I hadn't touched the account in over a month, and to my surprise, I just saw it post on the forums. I have a signed message from an address associated with the account, that verifies the transfer of ownership over to me. How can I recover ownership?

Historically, I have been able to consistently turn a profit on online and real life poker games. In the realm of Bitcoin, however, I struggle not to lose my bank roll. My friend, who used to play at Seals with Clubs, started playing on Carbon Poker (large online poker site) several months back. He told me he was amazed at how bad everyone was. He was able to earn pretty consistently on SWC, but he told me that even at larger stakes, winning was so much easier.
Does anyone else have claims or thoughts on the idea? I assume that the demographic of Bitcoiners may be of higher intellect than the average population, but I have no proof to back up my claim.

What the title says. A few of my friends have purchased hoverboards and I want to buy one too. I know that I can get one off of Amazon through purse.io but I would prefer to buy from a direct seller because A: from what I hear, it will be cheaper and B: it will be promoting Bitcoin and supporting a Bitcoin friendly company. Can anyone help me out?

Anyone who has been on this forum for a bit understands the importance of trust. With a poor trust rating, it is hard to make purchases, receive loans, and even participate in signature campaigns. For such an important factor involved, I'm surprised there aren't more concrete guidelines as to what justifies negative trust.
Obviously, doing things such as scamming is grounds for negative trust. If you take out a loan and don't repay it, you deserve the red mark under your username. In addition, it appears to be common practice in the lending section to mark accounts asking for loans without collateral as untrustworthy.
Aside from this, I cannot think of many unspoken rules. The problem I see is that there are a lot of grey area (laundering money, selling stolen goods, blackhat merchants, etc.) where most people are not given poor trust, and many even are awarded good trust. However, there are a few lucky individuals in each controversial market that are subject to the red mark of death, and they typically lose most of their business as a result.
So, is there any list of activities that is agreed upon by the default trust users as grounds for a negative trust rating? I spent a considerable amount of time looking throughout the forums, but I couldn't find a comprehensive list anywhere.

I've never personally got into lending on this forum, I looked into it a bit here and there as a potential option for increasing my BTC, but decided to stay away for a few reasons. Although I dismissed the idea there was one factor I have been curious about- Altcoin collateral.
It is clear to me that anyone could easily scam a loaner by using Altcoins as collateral. All one simply has to do, is purchase an obscure altcoin, request a loan, and offer the altcoin as collateral. If the altcoin goes up in value, the loan is paid back and the scammer sells his altcoin for a profit. If the altcoin loses value, he simply does not repay the loan. Have people attempted to do this in the past? I would imagine if this did happen that loaners would no longer accept altcoins.

Any bilingual speakers that use both English and local forums that can give a bit of input here? I've recently noticed while trading accounts that some users sell their accounts on this forum, despite posting entirely on local subforums. Are prices much different just by going to a different part of the website, or do people frequently buy the same things we do on here?

The blocksize debate isn't talked about too frequently on here, but it is a huge thing over on /r/bitcoin (probably most talked about subject on there). Anyways, regardless of the outcome, many are fearing that the fact that a minority of people can inhibit change that the community wants, as well as how much we can split the community, could potentially harm Bitcoin... or worse. Is the actual debate over blocksize a big issue, or is reddit blowing things out of proportion?

Hello Bitcointalk, I recently set my friend up with a Bitcoin wallet after he explained that he wanted to purchase something, and the sellers only accepted Bitcoin. He installed an Electrum wallet and I left the room for a bit while he set it up. I loaned him some Bitcoins, but when he went to send the coins, a problem arose. You see, my friend is dyslexic, and it turns out he typed his password incorrectly... twice. He doesn't know what his password is, and he needs it to send coins. No problem I thought, just use your wallet generation seed to get access to your private key.... he didn't save the words, and needs to enter his password to view them. He also didn't set up 2FA.
To summarize, he doesn't know his password, and did not take any necessary backup measures. Is there any way he can get access to his coins back?

I loved watching the show Battle Bots as a kid, and now that the show just started up on ABC again, I've been watching and enjoying the robot destruction. Are there any sites out there that I can bet on Battle Bots contenders at? Would make the experience that much more enjoyable if I had a certain bot I was betting on.

After posting a thread, and checking current prediction sites, there does not seem to be a good option available to the Bitcoin community for betting on Big Brother.
As a gambler and a Big Brother fan, I would be interested in organizing a betting pool of sorts- participants can place a bet on the houseguest of their choice. At the end of the season, the entire pool would be divided proportionally and handed out to all users who placed a bet on the actual winner.
Before I decided to conduct this, I would need to see if there is any support for such a betting pool. Obviously, if there are no BB fans outside of myself, this project would be a failure.
I would also like help on this sort of thing. I have never hosted any such betting pool before. What is a good way to go about using escrow? What would be a fair commission (if any)? What would be a fair minimum bet? How long into the season should I accept bets?
If you have any suggestions, or if you are interested, please reply below. Thanks!

I love to gamble and I also enjoy Big Brother. With the season starting in just a few days, I was wondering if there were any Bitcoin sites out there that allow me to bet on the winners? Thanks.

Hello, I want to make a thread for my satirical Bitcoin news site, truucoin.com. I want to make a single thread with updates when new articles are posted. Because of this format, I do not believe it belongs in the press section. What is the most appropriate forum for this thread?
|

TruuCoin.com, launched yesterday, is the next big thing in Bitcoin press. TruuCoin is a satirical press release about all things Bitcoin. You can get a sample of what's to come by reading our first article about Liberland.
The purpose of this post is to reach out to the community for the juiciest bitcoin content around. Hilariously obvious scam going around? Insane stupidity? Unbelievable rumors? If its good we will write about it. Simply PM me or write your snippet below and if we like it we will write it!
