2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] EternalCoin voting system - giving back [ETC] ~charity~ on: January 30, 2014, 04:45:30 AM
EternalCoin will be implementing a voting system which is meant to deal with big picture decisions, the way it work is;
the lead developer or community can call a vote, a vote can be started by the lead developer for free or by the community through a petition.
A petition has 1 week to send 0.0005 of the current money supply to a petition address (currently at around 1700 ETC), a vote is then started with two addresses for "Yes" or "No" or multiple addresses
for a multiple answer vote. All proceeds of the vote will be converted at current rate to LTC and sent to http://www.songsoflove.org/ a nonprofit that cheers
up children with medical, physical, or emotional challenges. I didn't want to reconvert the money again from LTC to BTC as that would take more fees away from the donation,
but that could obviously go up for vote. The address with the most ETC in it after the 1 week voting period will be the answer of the poll, the only rules are;
-Don't start a petition yourself, pm me for one to be started and I will create an address for your petition and post the petition on the forum.
-A petition can be started by a btctalk escrow service if you feel that I will be biased in any way. I will however have to approve that the individual is trustworthy before I tell people to put money into an account in their control.
-If a petition does not receive the necessary amount of votes by the 1 week deadline, every address will be refunded the amount they sent.

Some possible topics you can start a petition for:
-The charity money is sent to
-Voting regulations (minimum petition amount, whether coins are refunded after a failed petition)

The benefits of this is that; the community gets a voice in how the coin is run, we give to charity, and the economy gets stimulation from the exchange being used and money moving hands.

This thread will serve as a way to explain the voting system, discuss it, and keep track of current votes.

main thread: http://eternalcoin.info

The first few petition addresses are here:
Petition 1: Eg7hKZZk1hgejvsHFf6zzUbrsLqRbARNmm
Petition 2: ERk82ySSGqweVd2riKL7uV5YP7trY5c2ws
Petition 3: EPvamD5oThZbbfVtvkb3waiTN7kmaQ2Wcd

To start a petition, you must post here first with the address and petition and then send any amount of etc yourself to get started (0.000001 is fine)

I am self-moderating this thread so I can fix any confusion there will be from multiple people trying to start a petition with the same address.

Why static block reward?
I believe a difficulty change is one of the best indicators of a crypto-coins worth, this means that early-adopters are not rewarded, instead the individuals with the highest percentage of hash rate for the longest are the ones rewarded. Furthermore, This will show what will happen to bitcoin after all base reward coins are mined, and prove that a crypto coin can be sustained purely on transaction rewards.

Block 10,000 will receive 10,000ETC Bonus
Also offering a 25 etc reward for every block with a multiple of 10 eg: 9280,9290, 9300, etc.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can you restrict altcoin mining to a list of ips on: December 29, 2013, 04:46:32 PM
Is there a simple way to restrict an altcoins mining to a list of pre-determined IPs?
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / WARNING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHOM RECEIVE INTERAC-ETRANSFERS on: December 18, 2013, 06:59:14 PM
recently sold 200 cad worth of bitcoins, was my first sell on local bitcoins. The guy offered interac-etransfers which after some research seemed like it would be 100% safe as they said its non-refundable transfers and he also had 30+ trades with 100% rating. He sent the money to my acc which i received almost instantly and then I released the btc. Everything was fine, untill i tried to take money out of my card later that night. Card declined, online web acc disabled, and when I called in i was informed all my bank accounts are frozen and being investigated by the fraud department. Its been approximately 5 days now and Im still locked out of my account but I was just informed that the funds are being returned to the sender.

Interac-etransfers are NOT safe and if the card used to send you a payment was stolen they will remove the funds after a few business days. Also, you will be screwed over trying to reach any funds for the next week and waste hours of your time in the branch and on the phone (required to come to the branch multiple times to confirm identity).

hate to be that guy, but donations are welcome, i am a broke university student and I wanted to do some btc trading (more for fun rather than profit), and now lost the funds from this trade my dreams are crushed.
10  Economy / Service Discussion / Question about mtgox on: December 06, 2013, 05:23:09 PM
I thinking of trading on there, My question is if im withdrawing an international wire transfer what would be the time window in which I would get the money in my canadian bank account. And also, when u withdraw the money that ammount cannot change correct?

For instance.

I sell a BTC on mtgox for 1200 canadian (fees included)

will I receive 1200 Canadian to my account regardless of btc price change?

I've read about a lot of people still waiting 90+ days on their transfer is this still going on? Or if anyone is currently using mtgox to trade using international wire transfers what is the wait time typically?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Mining in garage during winter months on: November 24, 2013, 07:20:09 PM
So I live in canada, where during our winter months we will be around 5 degrees to -30 degrees, the garage should be around 5 degrees to negative 20 max. I am currently running USB Block Eurpters with a USB Hub and a Raspberry Pi. My question is, can i run this setup in the garage to save on cooling cost of running fan -- which means can the USB Block erupter function at -20 celcius and also the Raspberry Pi.

I am also thinking about purchasing a blade in the near future, would that be fine to run in the garage. I head about using things to prevent condensation by for instance throwing one of those drying packets in my box holding my equipment.

Also with the block erupter without a heatsink would a 0 celcius room be sufficient cooling?

Thanks for help in advance,

again sorry if this has been posted I am finding it difficult to find the information.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about USB Powered hub on: November 24, 2013, 02:46:42 AM
I recently purchased an http://www.orico.com.cn/en/ProductInfo.aspx?typeid=237&id=2294
and am using 3 USB block erupters and a Raspberry Pi. I am wondering what would be the maximum usb block erupters i can use per hub,
and also, would this hub be able to be daisy-linked with other ones (hub connected to another hub).

I guess this would be a question going out to anyone who specifically has an Orico USB 2.0 10 port hub, or anyone with knowledge in the matter.

Thank you, sorry if this has been answered but I have been unable to find it.
