Can anyone shed some light on the 2 different kinds of packaging for the Sapphire 5830s?  They come in 2 different sizes.  Does anyone know the difference?  Is 1 more overclockable than the other?  Why the difference in packaging for the same product?  Did the earlier releases come in the smaller box?

Any ideas?

Anyone know when retailers are getting these back in stock?  I placed an order on Amazon a few weeks ago (Sapphire), and the estimate is June 20 to July 7th.  I noticed at the time, new orders were given an estimate of "1 to 2 months" and currently that has been changed to "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."
So have you checked back with your retailer lately to see when these are coming back?

Amazon canceled all my backordered Sapphire 6990s.  Here's their email:

5830s are out at the major retailers, I think the next to go soon is the 6950s followed by the 6970s.  6990s will be coming back in stock in a few weeks, but they will probably be swooped up very quickly.  If you're out of plugs in your house, maybe you can go into the video card hoarding/resell business after all the good cards dry up?

I ordered a few 6990s a few weeks ago that are on back order.  Meanwhile, I've been building rigs with cheap 5830s.
At this point, I am wondering if I should just cancel all my backorders for 6990s because it's not a great $ to MH ratio.
Is anyone getting 6990s just because you have money to burn?  You want to play video games too?  You believe they will hold up better for resale later?
What are your reasons?
