1  Bitcoin / Mining / Access to low cost electricity for Bitcoin/Altcoin Mining on: January 13, 2014, 01:02:24 PM
What is the most significant expense when running a mining operation?

Outside of hardware and space, would it be electricity?

We have access to electricity at a very low cost (unable to disclose source at this point in the possible project) and are now considering starting a mine, and perhaps a pool and need to determine if this electricity discount would make it worthwhile.

Thanks

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / (A.C.T.) - Alternate Cryptocurrency Trading (w/ C.A.T.) on: December 27, 2013, 04:06:33 PM
Hi,
This topic is mainly centered around Trading the many Alternate Cryptocurrencies found on Cryptsy, using Sampey's C.A.T. System.

I've never seen anything like C.A.T.

I've used all sorts of trading programs in a number markets, particularly the fiat market of forex trading. I've collected a TON of metatrader bots. I've made a lot of money with them, and lost a lot, ending in profits not to brag about. But C.A.T. ...

This thing is in beta and after a week of constant trading I have NEVER seen a cumulative loss. And sampey is dishing out the updates regularly. I asked for a feature and the next day and update came out and my request made the update. I'm nobody special, but I was pleased.

Being new to using it, I'm looking for others to:
1) Share and optimize settings
2) accelerate and maximize the trading and profits at cryptsy

I'd love to be the moderator of this topic to help it stay on point, but I would have to be a bitcointalk.org moderator (hint). Ahem.

That being said, I'm interested in a number of things, but I'll start of asking:

a) what do you find to be the top five best markets to use with cat? Ie: Most active and profitable.
b) to what and when do you adjust your minimum guaranteed gain % based on the above? For example:
 - if you are in 1-5 markets with a total of less than 1 btc, what do you set your Min. Gain % at?
 - if you are in 1-5 markets with a total of 1 btc or more, what do you set your Min. Gain % at?

3  Economy / Service Discussion / About Private Internet Access Service - a happy ending on: November 29, 2013, 03:57:25 AM
I gave my word to an associate that I would take a moment and tell you about his experience with Private Internet Access.

He attempted to purchase a month of VPN service using Ripple as the payment method.

Things went terribly wrong when there was a problem with the payment. The payment was made, it didn't register and they didn't receive the service they ordered.

Upon contacting support they were told that support could not find the payment, even though various pieces of proof of purchase was submitted. PIA eventually explained that Ripple payments were handled differently, and by a different department at an irregular period, outside of other payment methods.

My associate and their associated ticket was bounced around to various people over a number of weeks, with on-going requests to refund their ripple. In the face of my associate going ballistic PIA needs to be ashamed at what seemed to be blatant theft or lack of care, things went totally quite from PIA. With one last attempt before "taking it to the next level", PIA had a surprising and completely refreshing response: While they "continue to investigate the matter", they finally took my associates word, and compensated them with a SUBSTANTIAL subscription. Substantial enough to appease them for the trouble.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, it's great to know that sometimes there are still instances where a company or individual can move past the taint that thieves create and make people feel that "the customer is always right", or at least has some value to them.

On behalf of my associate, "thanks Private Internet Access"

Hi
I'm Peter D. Reed.

Several years ago I saw a television commercial on how to trade forex using this automated trading program (wizetrade). After getting my feet wet (I won't talk about how wet my feet got :\), eventually moved on to trading with brokers, and because of a computer science background and my desire to not sit at the computer all day I got in to metatrader and it's trading Robots.

I developed a little understanding of the forex market, but being a computer gangster [cancels out the bad feeling of people thinking I'm a geek? Smiley], I've concluded that I enjoyed the challenge of the figuring out how to remove the emotions out of trading and getting the 'Bots' to effectively and efficiently do the work while I moved on to other things. I made A LOT of money and lost a lot of money with these bots. In the end I came out ahead but somehow I was still spending more time at the pc than I wanted to (maybe deep down I really want to).

So yeah, during the course of all this I discover virtual currencies. I've watched them come, and I've watched them go, and a few years ago I run in to - - - BITCOIN - - -

Yep, I was intrigued. I made a few moves to get some such as trying to mine with deepbit, and using bitcoin plus.

Fast forward. Now maybe you think you see where this is going. Trading, Bots, and Bitcoin... but nope. Thats not why I'm here today.

Me? I like bitcoin (and bots!) Others involved like the benefits of a corporation, and still others like to work with different minds, so we're putting our interests together and i thought I'd try and connect with interesting and interested people on one of the premier bitcoin community forums and see if we can collaborate with others on growing our system into something viable, useful, and long term. Yeah. All that.

We're going to set up the software 'active collab' to support collaborating, so I'll be stopping back to provide the links for those who might be interested. If nothing else, just stop in and watch what develops.

Thanks for reading.
