1  Bitcoin / Press / Bitcoin-enabled Euro payment solution operates as a mobile e-wallet on: November 25, 2012, 03:50:18 PM
I havn´t seen this posted anywhere.

The future is here?

Multicurrency payment solution Bitcoin and Euro mobile wallet?

Launched by tech start-up venture Paymium with its banking partner Aqoba, Paytunia is the first bitcoin-enabled Euro payment solution designed to operate as a mobile e-wallet capable of sending and receiving payments in Euros or Bitcoins.

"Paymium will isolate customers and merchants from any conversion rate risk by leveraging Bitcoin-Central, a bitcoin trading platform also operated by Paymium and fully integrated with Paytunia. Thanks to the agreement with Aqoba, funds deposited in Euro to Paytunia or Bitcoin-Central (bitcoin trading platform integrated with Paytunia) will enjoy the same level of legal protection as any other bank account in France. The Paytunia Pro version enables merchant to present shoppers with a standard bitcoin QR code to receive payments in Euros or Bitcoins: by virtue of the free software nature of Bitcoin, the tablet and smartphone application does not require the customer to be registered with Paytunia. By accepting any bitcoin-compatible application, Paytunia Pro solves the interoperability issue that has plagued mobile wallet developments until today. Payments in Euro are processed through the Bitcoin network."

3  Economy / Speculation / 376 918 Btc down to $1 on: August 25, 2012, 08:49:02 AM
All it takes is 376,918 Btc to push price down to $1.25.
Below $1 is just panic.

What if Pirateat40 does just that.
What if that is in his interest to do so?
Maybe he is working on a competitor to Bitcoin ie another micropayment system or payment company.

That would mean he would get plenty of dollars. Now he can buy all those cheap < $1 Bitcoins.
And thus give his interest rate with Bitcoins back to those who invested.
That would also mean he would kept his promise get rich doing so and make Bitcoin look like a joke.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Capacity exchange development presents untapped opportunity for London on: August 11, 2012, 06:52:09 PM
This following report for the City of London, recommends opening up for trade with alternative currencies it mentions Bitcoin.

In the summary of the long report.
Bitcoin is mentioned twice.

1.5.1 Alternative Currencies
Alternative currencies are increasingly discussed in both business and academia.
Some, hardly exhaustive, examples help to set the scene. Facebook credits and
BitCoins are attempts to create common tenders for virtual communities. Facebook
is tied to its social network while BitCoins are intended to be used across

There is also a table on page 12 with benefits. In which Bitcoin should be in category 3, in that category they stack up all the benefits.

Btw, City of London conducts more economic trade than wallstreet.
London Is Eating New York’s Lunch

In the full report.
On page 173 under Money 3.0 they appear to describe something that sounds a little similar to Bitcoin.
Money 3.0 is then the relationship within which value is exchanged by reference to an Energy Standard.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin network hashrate PetaFLOPS 195.66 vs Worlds supercomp 16.32 petaflops/s on: August 10, 2012, 03:50:58 PM
MANNHEIM, Germany; BERKELEY, Calif.; and KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—For the first time since November 2009, a United States supercomputer sits atop the TOP500 list of the world’s top supercomputers. Named Sequoia, the IBM BlueGene/Q system installed at the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory achieved an impressive 16.32 petaflop/s on the Linpack benchmark using 1,572,864 cores.

Bitcoin Network Hashrate
PetaFLOPS   195.66

How can the Bitcoin network hasgrate be more than 10 times, one of the worlds most powerful supercomputers.
I cant see how some enthusiasts in just 3 years have surpassed worlds nr 1 supercomputer by 10 times!

Is that really correct or are they messured with different methods?

7  Other / Politics & Society / “Bailout” World Premiere at Music Box Theater - Courageous and Eye Opening on: May 21, 2012, 08:20:50 AM
A new documentary about the 2008 crises

"Make no mistake about it as Fahey uses the word “fraud” many times throughout the film when referring to the actions of the big money-center banks, clearly painting the picture that criminal intent – not miscalculation or mistake - was indeed the source of the housing collapse. Fahey brilliantly connects the dots using facts, expert analysis and heartbreaking testimonials from victims throughout the country as the concrete evidence needed to support the film’s claim of wrong doing. The film also touches on the fact that no one was convicted for the largest financial fraud ($11 billion) in our country’s history. Why? Because banks have successfully infiltrated the government and routinely pass the laws that protect themselves from offense. The atrocities don’t stop there as the film delves into the misguided bailouts that the banks – the perpetrators – have issued, keeping the machine alive and well. The film also provides a detailed look at the process in which banks handed out home loans knowing, and benefiting, on the fact that these loans could never be repaid. Breaking it down to a science, it is explained how and why this process made these banks profited hand over fist while Americans suffered one of the biggest recessions to date."“bailout”-world-premiere-at-music-box-theater-courageous-and-eye-opening
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Batch transactions on: May 05, 2012, 12:34:44 PM
Solutions to make it easier to use Bitcoins securely when donating.

When you click a URI the client opens and you will probably need to write in your password to confirm the donation.
If you have a secure 2 part verification password this becomes tiresome.
You might even avoid donating because you do not care to unlock the client.

What if you instead could save the donation and sign it and several other donations later when you really need to login.

As you click a URI to donate you are presented with the choice.

"Store transaction and verify it later or login and verify it now."

This will make it easier to keep using a secure 2 step passwords process.
This could also be useful for Armory with Bitcoins kept in cold storage.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Researchers claim quantum breakthrough on: April 26, 2012, 03:18:51 PM
Researchers say they have designed a tiny crystal that acts like a quantum computer so powerful it would take a computer the size of the known universe to match it.

And I thought remote control to the TV was a big breakthrough...

If this is true, the consequences of it will be hard to grasp.
But what consequences will it have on Bitcoin? In the coming years?

10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / To developers of Bitcoin ad option to send BTC of total value X in currency Y on: April 25, 2012, 06:40:48 PM
Something basic thats really missing.

When sending funds, you can only select how many Bitcoins.

I often find myself wanting to send Bitcoins of a certain amount of value.

Example a value of $23 but in another currency.

Its a very annoying and slow process, I have to find the value of Bitcoin in USD, calculate the value over to my currency and than calculate  the amount of Bitcoins to send.

If you could just select.

Send Bitcoins
A with a total value of X in currency y.
B N number of Bitcoins.

I added this suggestion to the Bitcoin spinner client, and as Technomage pointed out this is badly needed in most clients and in the bitcoin world so I hope this bring this to the attention of all clients.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mobile money slowly turning East Africa into cashless society on: February 13, 2012, 08:22:40 AM

Mobilemoney Africa summit: Someone from Bitcoin should go there...

"A frequent comment I hear, particularly from international banks, is that the unbanked aren’t for them."

14  Economy / Economics / US planning a "Falseflag" attack on Iran? on: February 07, 2012, 07:02:35 PM
According to this video.
USA and Israel may be planning false flag operation to be blamed on Iran and thus "justify" another war.
50 years old carrier USS Enterprise that is scheduled for decomission next year is sent to persian gulf

And this is probably the reason why...
(Though this video is probably a wild exaggeration.)

Things can be "solved" by going to a more local economy, moving closer etc.

Oil reserves in Iran, according to its government, rank third largest in the world at approximately 150 billion barrels (24×109 m3) as of 2007, although it ranks second if Canadian reserves of unconventional oil are excluded.[1] This is roughly 10% of the world's total proven petroleum reserves. Iran is the world's fourth largest oil producer and is OPEC's second-largest producer after Saudi Arabia.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Feature Bitcoin companies on official bitcoin sites such as We use Coins on: February 06, 2012, 07:27:54 PM
It would be great if we say to any company or organisation that consider Bitcoin as a payment method, that they will get free advertisement on We Use Coins or/and other big Bitcoin sites.

This could be done by having a huge impressive banner that rotates images for business that use Bitcoin, and clicking on the image will take you to the business site.

If we can say, hey when you enable Bitcoin you will also get free advertisement on the frontpage or on the tab, where can I use Bitcoin on this Bitcoinsite with 10.000 visitors every month.

For many medium and small companies such an ad exposure would be a huge incentive to accept Bitcoin.

This would also work the other way around, showing people that there are business that use Bitcoins.
16  Economy / Economics / India to pay for Iran's oil in gold on: January 24, 2012, 04:58:49 PM
The move by India, if true, will have other unintended consequences: it will bring down the value of dollar.

If India does decide to pay Iran in gold, the decision will certainly push the price of gold high, especially as vast sums are involved in such transactions, and that would hurt the value of the dollar.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Trusted cellphone/mobile bitcoin client on: January 04, 2012, 08:29:45 AM
Right now one of the problems with the new mobile clients are that people do not know the companies behind them.

If I recommend a small shop to start using a mobile client, which should I recommend?

I believe that if some trusted software companies such as Norton mcafee or any other trusted company gave out a client it would be easy to get new people using it, people would probably even pay money for using it.

However they might not create one in years.

So an idea would be for you guys who develop a mobile client to let them license it from you. This is a common approach in many other businesses such as gambling in which a software developer licenses their software to a trusted gambling name.

18  Economy / Speculation / Payment solutions similar to Bitcoin on: December 14, 2011, 04:43:02 PM
Next year Visa will launch

Its similar as a payment solution in that it allows you to buy without giving away your details and make it simple.

Daopay is a simple way to use you mobile to pay.

What kind of impact will these have on the value of Bitcoins?

Why should avarage joe really care about Bitcoins next year when he/she could use a simple solution from another company such as Visa/google etc.

19  Economy / Speculation / What dictates the bitcoin price on: November 24, 2011, 09:53:56 PM
I know this has been posted before, but its amazing how close the Bitcoin price follows the google trends.

I think there are a couple of conclusions to be drawn from this but I would like to hear what you think.

20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Idea for Firefow/chrome/opera plugin on: September 28, 2011, 12:33:29 PM
How about a Bitcoin plugin for those, that allows you to click on a bitcoin adress and select how many bitcoins you want to give/send to that adress.

Something like Richard Stallman described in his speach a few years ago.

Yes, you can open your wallet and copy/paste in the adress. But a plugin that allows you to just click, would make it even easier and also would show the world what Bitcoins are for.
