1  Economy / Collectibles / WTS: 2013 Casascius .999 Troy ounce 1BTC funded. on: December 09, 2016, 08:11:11 PM
How can I determine the value of this coin?  I am thinking about selling it but I'm not sure what it's worth.  Huh

Any help would be appreciated.
2  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Would you accept 1TH of Monarchs for $850 on: August 27, 2014, 10:14:07 PM
Because I will otherwise lose my 25% voucher, I am enticed to take this offer and receive a refund for the rest of my money.

$850 for 2 monarchs is enticing.  Plus I will activate my cloud hashing so it is instantly online.

What do you think?  Ever make a ROI?  Or just opt for a full refund?
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / SMOS network issue on: March 07, 2014, 01:17:17 AM
I am trying to run a single 7950 on a 990FXA-GD80 based miner.
I can boot into SMOS linux just fine but the network is intermittent.
Running a simple ping of or shows that the network works fine for a little while and then stops working.  It then resumes working and then stops working.  repeatedly.

I would love any insight into what could be causing this issue.  Is it likely to be a motherboard firmware issue?

4  Economy / Speculation / Why didn't MtGox halt trading like they've done in the past? on: February 20, 2014, 08:45:41 PM
Seriously... we've seen MtGox stop trading all together at least once (I think maybe even twice, that I recall) to let the market "cool down."

So I can't understand why they didn't just halt trading until the withdrawal issue is fixed.  This seems almost criminal in my mind.

Am I missing something?

7  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / What to do with BFL order? Upgrade to hosted or keep jalapenos? on: November 01, 2013, 03:16:38 AM
I have an order for 2 7GH/s Jally's from 4/21 which should be shipping any day now.

My concern is that I think it's still worthwhile to mine with them since I consider my initial investment a sunk cost. However speculation shows that upgrading to hosted while be around twice as profitable if BFL gets it up and running within 3 months.

The question is, what would you do?  Keep Jally's and mine in hope for a future trade in value?  Or upgrade and wait again?  We all know BFL timelines are shifty....

(Just to clarify... the question is not "What should I have done?")

Thank you for any helpful insight you're willing to share with me.

8  Economy / Goods / WTB: 3rd Gen Tacoma 4x4 in Cali on: August 08, 2013, 10:49:43 PM
Looking to buy a Tacoma. Hoping to get a good price on something with less than 100k miles.  4cyl or 6cyl engines are both acceptable.  Must be at least the extra cab but preferably the double cab.  Let me know what you got.  Payment would be in cash and bitcoin or I can convert the USD to bitcoin but that would take additional time.
9  Economy / Currency exchange / WTS: 6 Bitcoins on: August 05, 2013, 10:46:55 PM

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / switched my 5870 to litecoin mining but extremely high temps on: July 26, 2013, 07:36:19 PM
I came across an extra computer with a PCIe slot.  I leave the side off and installed a 500 watt 80+ bronze PSU.
I noticed the temps climbing rather high so I crank the fan to 100%.  The temperature still rose to damn near 100c.  what the heck?  I never had a problem like that mining bitcoins.  Although i did turn down the memory freq and voltage.  I still don't see how it's rising 30+ degrees over mining bitcoins (70c).  Can anyone provide some insight?
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Question about powering BFL Single SC on: July 18, 2013, 06:11:28 AM
So the power supply that was included burned out after only a few days of mining.  I have it running on another PSU for the mean time.  However, I just ordered this

I received it today and unfortunately I didn't realize it only had one PCIe connector instead of two.  Not a big deal but I was going for cleanliness which is why I opted for the modular model.  My question is this:

Can I use something like this to split the one PCIe connector into two?  Would that be shorting it on power or anything like that?  Or would I be better of using an additional cable with a 4 pin to 6pin PCIe adapter? Would it even matter?

Thanks in advance
12  Economy / Services / FEELER: Water damaged electronics repair service. on: July 09, 2013, 08:21:00 PM
For the last 7+ years I have been fixing cell phones and other small electronic devices such as iPod's and other mp3 players.  I am looking at purchasing the professional equipment needed to perform the cleaning of PCB's and sensitive electronics in order to fix water damage and corrosion.  I am just curious if there is any interested in the bitcoin market.  I would probably charge around ~$45 or the BTC equivalent for the service and that would likely include the return shipping.  I am in the USA.  If you would be so kind as to reply and let me know if you think this is a service you would use or not, I would greatly appreciate it.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Can someone help me figure out what I did with some BTC? on: December 14, 2012, 05:53:36 AM
I stopped mining back in August.  This was my last payout.

Your reward for mining with the mining pool service has exceeded threshold of 5.0 BTC.

Amount 5.01038742 BTC has been transfered to your address 174doVikTMeArJreeQtLB34dFRWY9T182c at 2012-08-24 06:07:23.376987 UTC.

Payment processing through Bitcoin network may take between 30 minutes to 3 hours. You can watch current payment status on If you see payment on Block Explorer and not in your Bitcoin client, please verify that your client is up to the latest block or ask on Bitcoin forum for any other help.

The problem is this;
I stopped mining for a short time before that last payout, but decided to give it one last go.  I'm thinking I changed my payment address to someone else's personal wallet in order to pay for goods, but that would not be typical behavior of mine, it's just the only thing I can think of.  The problem is after looking in all my message and post history, I can't find any record of such a deal.  Now I'm just plain confused where I sent these coins.  A month prior I had sent 5.95BTC to that same address according to my payout history.  Is there anyone here technical enough to help me figure out where i sent them?  I tried looking at blockexplorer but I just don't know what I'm looking at.  If you could help me understand it (blockexplorer) that would also be much appreciated.

The reason it took me so long to catch onto this is because I usually sent from slush pool to mtgox account.  That mtgox account had a yubikey that I lost and for a while mtgox had no remedy to my situation.  I recently regained access to that account only to find out the 5BTC I was expecting to see never went there in the first place.
15  Economy / Goods / Corsair K60 - Mechanical Keyboard (Great for gaming) on: December 11, 2012, 04:05:50 AM

Slightly used.  Only thing that needs to be known is that the 'C' key lettering is slightly worn compared to the rest.  The only read sign of wear on the keyboard.

6BTC + shipping.

18  Economy / Goods / [WTS] PlayStation 3 250GB with 3 controllers on: November 05, 2012, 08:17:53 PM
Haven't used this thing in ages and I can use the extra money.  It was originally the 120GB slim model, but I upgraded the drive to 250GB.
It has 3 Sony wireless controllers.  I also have a few older games for it.  This thing probably has a miniscule amount of hours on it compared to the average system of similar age.  I bought this brand new from best buy and probably still have the receipt if that does anything for you.  I also have all the box and contents as well.

looking for BTC10 + shipping obo.
19  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Cellular USB Modem - Ovation MC950D on: October 22, 2012, 04:48:52 PM
Product Page here:

I used this a couple times with my AT&T SIM card and it worked well.  Took a few minutes of inputting the correct settings to make it work, but it did. I just don't need it because I have a jailbroken iphone with an app that replaces my need for this.  Never even really used it, bought it off of newegg a while ago.
Make sure it's compatible with your SIM card before buying.

I'd like 2 bitcoins shipped in the US.
