21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / (WTS) 2010 EAC for BTC on: January 02, 2014, 03:13:06 AM
2010 EAC available - please pm with offers in BTC.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Chargebacks on: January 01, 2014, 08:02:35 AM
In nearly all the posts I read regarding Bitcoin people mention that irreversible transactions are fantastic and the way forward.

I can understand this from the point of view of businesses but not from the point of view of the consumer. Why would people switch to start paying in BTC if they have no comeback should whatever it is they purchased not be as described or not received?

I read it all the time, people saying how they sent x thousands of $ to a random company they found on the internet in expectation that they would receive BTC in return - of course many people get ripped off and have no comeback as they are sending payments by non reversible methods.

If Bitcoin will continue to gain ground it will not only change how payments are sent and received but will change the very nature of how things are done leading to a survival of the fittest scenario where people not blessed with a large amount of common sense end up penniless and destitute.

I have read so many sob stories on this forum from people who have sent money for BTC to a company with no address listed on their site based in some backward country that it makes you think how could someone be so stupid? I have also read recently someone who sent money 3 times to the same company as each time they gave an excuse as to why they needed more? I mean come on!

Just wondering if the general consensus from long time Bitcoin users is that if someone is stupid enough to send money to a company that is so obviously not legitimate they deserve to loose their money?

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Scrypt ASICs - Likely coming soon or (finger crossed) not? on: December 28, 2013, 05:20:10 AM
Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about the likelihood of Scrypt ASICs being available any time soon or not.

Feel they would kill mining for many people - including myself?

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptsy - Good But Needs Big Improvement on: December 26, 2013, 05:57:48 AM
I trade daily on Cryptsy, while I don't have some of the issues reported by some I believe there should be a minimum trade order in place to avoid idiots trying to manipulate the market. Right now I see an order for 0.1 ANC in place just above serious orders - this should not be allowed.

I think there should be an order minimum equivalent to at least $10 otherwise it is open to serious spamming abuse.

I know it's not likely to charge but come on it's ridiculous!

26  Other / Beginners & Help / Paper Wallets for Alt Currencies? on: December 25, 2013, 07:11:41 AM
Posted in a few other sections but with no response.

Any one know how to create a paper wallet for alt currencies - mainly Anoncoin and Unobtanium?

Thanks

I am trying to find out how to make paper wallets for different coins, Anoncoin and Unobtanium.

Is this possible?

If so how?

29  Economy / Speculation / More retailers accepting Bitcoin could cause the price to drop...... on: December 23, 2013, 01:59:33 AM
The general consensus says that the more places that start accepting Bitcoin the more valuable Bitcoin will become, but if we take a look at the recent news from Overstock - all the sales they make in BTC will be converted straight away to fiat - there is going to be a need for a general rise in the use of Bitcoin to support this.

Of course, if more people start using Bitcoin then this could potentially be sustained but if this is not the case the retailers will just be dumping BTC on the market.

What Overstock should be doing is using the BTC to pay for their costs - not possible at the moment - paying salaries to those that want a portion, if not all of their pay cheque in BTC. This would be a better way to sustain and stabilise Bitcoin.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Anoncoin on: December 22, 2013, 09:02:40 AM
I've been quite fond of Anoncoin for a while now.

Just wondering who else here sees a good future for Anoncoin?

If I had to gamble I could see prices rising considerably but of course I don't gamble  Wink

Anyone here choose Anoncoin as Bitcoin's number 2???
31  Other / Meta / Explanation of membership status? on: December 21, 2013, 05:05:04 AM
I'm not daft but what on earth does this mean:

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
'activity = min(time * 14, posts)'

Time - Well that's obvious.
But activity? Can someone explain exactly what that means, what's 'min' and what does the comma stipulate?

Sorry if it's blatantly obvious!
32  Economy / Digital goods / Domain Name - www.thecryptoexchange.com + Go Daddy hosting for sale 0.4 BTC on: December 19, 2013, 07:07:16 AM
Thought about starting an exchange - but reconsidered.

I'm selling the domain www.thecryptoexchange.com as well as just under 1 year's worth of hosting on GoDaddy. Will just change details on the account and pass it along to the buyer to use or transfer domain elsewhere.

Asking 0.4 BTC for a very quick sale.

Please PM me if interested.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Anoncoin Offensively Cheap - Buy NOW! on: December 17, 2013, 01:59:04 AM
Anoncoin is drastically under valued as we speak and is a perfect time to buy as the price will steadily increase by at least 30% over the next week! I've bought 337 (the only BTC I had available) and would advise you to buy too!
34  Economy / Trading Discussion / Opinions on investing BTC for 5% a month interest? on: December 08, 2013, 10:15:05 AM
I, along with a few business partners, are currently in the process of setting up a service offering high interest for clients wishing to invest BTC with us.

It will work like this:

You invest from 0.5 - 5 BTC and we guarantee a return of 5% a month paid monthly with the option of cashing out your original investment with only 5 working days notice.

Our website is nearly complete and we will offer a very personal service (to invest with us you have to call us by phone and you would have a personal account manager you can call 24/7 etc).

Some of the main drawbacks we're envisaging at the moment are actually making people understand that this is a legitimate business. We would have a maximum fund at any one time and would go all out to show potential clients that they could invest their BTC without any concern.

Firstly, would anyone be interested in this?

Secondly, would you automatically think 'hang on they're just going to run away with my BTC'? - To put to this we will obviously not be an anonymous entity, we have nothing to hide.

Thirdly, would you feel comfortable calling someone on the telephone to invest BTC and developing a professional business relationship with them or do you use BTC to avoid this?

Any opinions would be most appreciated.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Perfect time for Anoncoin! on: December 07, 2013, 09:27:24 AM
I believe that in light of the current news now is a perfect time for a more widespread adoption of Anoncoin. In my opinion ANC is priced way below its true value at the moment and now is a perfect time to buy in with your downtrodden BTC.

I can see Anoncoin doubling in value or more by years end so would make a solid investment.

Cryptsy is the best exchange to get ANC - definitely study the charts and you'll see that an up trend is more than likely on the cards!

Just view the Anoncoin site:

https://anoncoin.net//

Say's what the devs are trying to do to keep the coin truly anonymous.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mining Anoncoin on: December 04, 2013, 07:42:32 PM
I've being looking around at some alternative currencies and quite fancy the idea of Anoncoin, coupled with the fact there are not going to be many it seems like a good bet going forward.

My question is; does anyone know how to go about mining Anoncoin and the best GPU to use. Also does the rest of the PC need to be 'good' or could I get a cheap PC and just put in the best GPU?

Cheers
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Opinions on alt currencies? on: December 03, 2013, 06:16:50 PM
With all the new currencies there are what will be the effect on Bitcoin?

If we had 1000 different crypto currencies all vying for attention would this dilute the value of Bitcoin are would they likely die away after time?

Any opinions?
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Getting money in and out of Crypto? on: December 03, 2013, 09:48:07 AM
Like many I hold some BTC and day trade when I have any free time. The issue I have found is actually getting money in and out?

If I make say $30 worth of BTC in one day and want to convert and get the money in a safe way I may be looking at receiving only $15 after fees to convert and withdrawal costs. There must be a better way?
