6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / antminer u1 vs s1 on: March 08, 2014, 11:33:37 AM
I notice the antminer u1 is significantly more efficient than the antminer s1.  Does anyone have a solid explanation for this?  I know the s1 controller uses power, but not that much!

Is it just the difference between the conversion of 12v (s1) vs 5v (u1)

Or perhaps the density of the chips to each other vs a single usb?

Does anyone have a slew of them on an externally powered usb hub that can verify readings at the wall?

8  Economy / Computer hardware / 2600kh scrypt mining rig on: January 08, 2014, 08:44:39 AM
Hello, I am selling custom built mining rigs. They are setup with 6x Radeon 6950.  They have windows 7 professional, 40gb sata hard drive, 4gb ddr3 and use ultra efficient 25watt dual core cpus. They use a corsair 850watt power supply for the motherboard and the pcie. They use a 1570 watt dell server power supply for all of the 6pin connectors. Will sell for $2600ea.  Currently have 3 on hand.  Will have more built over the next few days.

I ship them at stock settings and they run at 24-2600khs.  They can hash faster if overclocked and shader unlocked.

Hosting and maintenance is available for $160 per month

10  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / R9 Series gpu on: December 31, 2013, 10:04:08 AM
Hello, I have heard that the xfx brand 7950's are shit for mining.  Does XFX have poor performance with there whole line of gpus or just the 7950?  Does anyone have an explanation as to why this could be? They all use the same gpu how does the manufacture vary that much in performance?  What are some good brands to look for in the r9 290 series?  I only ask because I have mostly used 69xx series cards, I purchased some 7950 cards and they worked great for btc, but they shit on ltc.  They were xfx series cards.  I am now shopping for a R9 290 and don't want to make the same mistake again.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Selling Help? on: December 28, 2013, 06:13:01 AM
Hello all, I have attempted to sell several items on btctalk and I never get any interest, but I can sell everything on ebay for the same or occasionally more money. I want to support the bitcoin community and I abhor ebay and paypal.  Am I doing something wrong here or is there a better place to sell with btc?

14  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Asicminer Blade v2.01 HK broken on: December 21, 2013, 05:43:22 AM
I received an asicminer blade and connected it up and I can access the web gui but all of the chips show x anyone have any idea what could be wrong?  It would have to be an error from the factory, I have purchased a whole lot of blades from this seller and when I received it it was still sealed.  I know that each bank of 4 chips has one regulator, 8 regulator circuits per blade.  I would think it would be unlikely that they all failed at the same time. Is there anything they have in common that could fail?   any thoughts on things to check would be appreciated.

16  Economy / Lending / Loan for 2.25btc on: December 15, 2013, 01:57:46 AM
Hello, I am now in bit of a pickle.   I reserved a spot in a group buy, assuming no big deal.  I setup an account at btc-e to trade some ltc to btc.  Btc-e made the trade easy enough, but now they say I need to wait 3 days to withdraw my btc.  Is anyone willing to make a loan for 2.25btc for 3 days, and what fee would you want for your service?  Thanks
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / KNC Miner on: December 02, 2013, 11:38:28 AM
I am suspicions about KnC. They have a good product with a good design and the units are fairly efficient compared to what else is out there. They really have the top of the market.  Why on earth are they abandoning it for a new preorder product?? I also see they have discontinued use of paypal.  It makes no sense to me.  A KnC Jupiter is going for $20k.  They have everything already, just make some more!! Why do all the mfg feel they need to screw everyone around with preorder crap!

18  Other / Beginners & Help / BEWARE OF EBAY-How I got f'ed on: November 30, 2013, 07:15:35 AM
With the upturn in btc price I had a miner that was selling for 2.5times what I paid for it on eBay.  So I sold mine.  I had to pay $70 to ship it and the buyer received it 3 days later.   26 days later, the buyer opened a dispute claiming that it didn't work correctly.  I replied that it worked just fine when I shipped it.  Ebay gave him 10 days to open a claim or close the case.  10 days later escalated it to a claim.  Ebay took 2 days to make a decicion and now says he can mail it back for a full refund.  They gave him 10 days to provide tracking information.  It is now the 7th day and still no tracking.  He probably wont ship it untill the last day.  Then it will take another 3-5 days to get back to me.  I am out the $70 for shipping and he has been mining with my machine for over a month for free.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / openrigs.com on: November 30, 2013, 04:43:46 AM
Hello All.  I saw over in the hardware section openrigs.com is selling a case for pcie video miners/superman bruteforce rigs.  It appears that the gpu cards are hanging by the back plate. It also apears the motherboard is hanging from the 3 screws on the one side.  All of the rigs I made I support the back end of the cards.  It seems to me that way would put too much tension on the cards and motherboard.  Anyone have any thoughts or experience relative to that mounting style?
