1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Autumn Radtke was NOT a "Bitcoin CEO" / "Bitcoin Exchange CEO"- what's going on? on: March 06, 2014, 08:12:51 AM
I've been reading this story about Autumn Radtke and this one is the only one that seems be even remotely honest about the whole thing: http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2014/03/05/bitcoin_ceo_suicide_not_so_fast_first_meta_s_autumn_radtke_is_dead_but_we.html (Besides the week old blog post he referenced that got no attention and stuck to the facts: [Suspicious link removed]j.com/digits/2014/02/27/american-ceo-of-singapore-startup-first-meta-dies/)

I am curious though, why has this been linked to Bitcoin at all?  As near as I can tell First Meta is primarily a site for trading online game currencies and not even a comprehensive list of them at that (where is World of Warcraft for example).  It looks like at one time they accepted Bticoin along with the gaming currencies almost as an afterthought.  I had to go all the way to their FAQ to find any reference of Bitcoin.  It doesn’t look like you can still trade in Bitcoin on First Meta at all.

Similarly her linked in profile makes no mention of Bitcoin other than that it seems to imply she attended a conference about it.

Where does this “Bitcoin Exchange CEO” even come from?

Clicking the “sell link” (https://firstmetaexchange.com/bitcoinconverter) for Bitcoin from the First Meta FAQ yields “Invalid Request”.

How do they come up with this shit?

I'd go so far to say as this company had no more to do with Bitcoin than any random company doing anything that decided to accept Bitcoin as a payment method and then later for reasons unknown decided to stop accepting it!

Is this another story of standard media incompetence or purposeful disinformation?

2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Cryptsy, the incompetence is almost comical on: December 19, 2013, 05:26:49 PM
I lost a nothing amount of coins but it's the principal that counts.  If they can loose a transaction into thin air with NO explanation that has little value couldn't they lose one with huge value?  It would seem so.  In any event, their non-responses are infuriating.

I transferred name coins into my account and they never appeared.  What's the deal?  This isn't a ton of value but how do I know the same thing wouldn't happen with 20 bitcoins?  This is alarming.

<exact transaction amount>    Withdrawal NMC to address <cryptsy's supplied deposit address>

This is the exact transaction.

We apologize for the delay in refunds / deposits and slow trades. We implemented a more efficient audit system today but it will take some time to recover from the switch over. If your refund has has not processed within a few hours please contact us so we can look into the issue further. The long delays are only temporary until the new system catches up.

We are working hard on optimizing the trade engine and are waiting on a delivery of more hardware. We appreciate your patience while we better equip ourselves for the growing community

This is absolutely unacceptable.  There is huge volatility in these coins.  A delay of a few hours is unacceptable let alone many days. Again the point is what if I had 20 BTC in this transfer!?

You closed the ticket without even solving the issue for starters. Days or weeks delay in deposits is not acceptable.

Everything besides the TXID is in the ticket above.  I am not sure what the TXID is but I will see if I can find out.

This is not significant money here but it seems to me if a transaction for .1 can get lost so can one for 100.

I

can it be? <transaction ID>

The exact date time was: <exact transaction time and date to the second>

I guess it took longer to confirm than I thought.  I was pretty sure I sent longer ago than that.

For reference the server time where the transaction was initiated is now: 02.12.13 23:48

No you have not fixed it.  The transaction is still not there.  What kind of issue causes peoples deposits to just disappear?

All of this information is above.  Why don't you read the tickets before responded with form letters?

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that you are have a negative balance after the glitch we had. Users were able to sell more coins than what they had in their wallet, and I'm 100% sure this is the case here. If you check your history with me, you will see the error.

An audit ran to take the coins given to you in error back, and if you had sold those coins and had a balance of zero, the audit put you into the negative. I have ran a final audit and found the balances to be accurate.

The solution is to sell the coins you were credited in error to make your balance zero. Some users have been locked from their accts and watched the price drop and now have to sell their coins at the current market value. Those cases will be looked at and some will be compensated like some already have been.

First you need to sell the coins so I can take the withdrawal freeze off of your acct and we will see where to go from there. Thanks for patience, and we will get this sorted out...

Please find somebody that is fluent in English and understands basic elementary school mathematics.  There is NO issue of negative balances now and there has NEVER BEEN an issue of negative balances.

There is no issue with withdrawals right now (that I know of) unless you have created a new one on your side.

The issue is a MISSING TRANSACTION:

If you can count, and you can read, you can see that this was never deposited into my account.

Do not respond, find somebody that can read, count and do basic math and have them respond.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / How many confirmations do I have to have before I can move/spend BTC? on: December 05, 2013, 09:56:44 AM
I realize that if I have a wallet with 1 BTC and I receive .5 BTC, have 2 confirmations on it, spend .5 BTC and then it turns out that transaction wasn't legit I will just end up spending .5 of my original 1 BTC... But what if if I have a wallet with 0 BTC and I receive .5 BTC - how soon before I can transfer/spend that .5 BTC?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lost NMC coins in transfer from btc-e.com to cryptsy on: December 04, 2013, 03:27:37 PM
I will say right up front that this was a totally insignificant amount of coins.  My problem is that if a transaction for .001 coin can disappear into thin air could one for 1, 100 or 1000 just as easily?

Anyway Last week I transferred a small amount of name coin from btc-e.com to cryptsy.  I didn't know who was responsible so I contacted both and said "Hey where is this transaction".  After a day or two cryptsy responded and then after some further back and forth they said they cannot find this transaction in the blockchain at all.   Btc-e is has ignored all inquiries.

In terms of dollar value or BTC value or whatever it's nothing to get bent out of shape over - my question is how can they be trusted with real money now?

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain growing exponentially? on: December 03, 2013, 12:31:36 AM
Is it me or is the block chain growing exponentially?  It seems like in the last month to six weeks it has gone from ~13 GB to over 15 GB.  13% growth for 3 or 4% of its life?   How long before it's 100 GB?  a year?
8  Economy / Computer hardware / 60 GH/s Butterfly Labs ASIC Single for Sale - Ebay or BTC on: December 03, 2013, 12:23:00 AM
As much as I hate them I've broken down and put it on Ebay since people are saying that sales in the forum are going for half the rate of ebay and less than half the rate of CEX.io.

Bid if you like.

If anybody wants to make a faster deal outside of Ebay I would love to not let them get any of my money (or yours).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261345431064  There is no reserve.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Where to sell mining hardware BESIDES ebay on: December 02, 2013, 06:03:19 PM
I want to sell my 60 GH/s BFL unit.

Assuming my post here doesn't bear fruit where can I sell it?  I absolutely *hate* *hate* *hate*.  These scumbags just get worse and worse every year.  Now they are trying to force you to use their other horrible ripoff company: PayPal.

Any tips?

Thanks.
