1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Any non-bank foreign exchange companies that support bitcoin??? on: May 20, 2015, 03:15:56 AM
hi

I am located in Australia and have contacted a various different companies who specialise in foreign exchange transfers - which offer much better rates than the banks - in order to transfer Australian dollars to overseas located bitcoin exchange(s).

The problem is they ALL refuse me the right to send my OWN money to any organisation or individual (including legiitimate registered bitcoin exchanges) connected in any way with bitcoins!
The absolute nerve of it disgusts me and makes them even lower scum than the big banks in my eyes!

A few such lowlife scumbag foreign exchange companies are listed here:
OzzForex
TorFX
World First
Currencyfair.com

For some (dumb) reason I expected that these non-bank companies would actually have a pro-bitcoin stance, but instead appear to have their heads even deeper up their own asses than the banks do!

So my question to you all is - ARE THERE ANY SUCH FOREIGN EXCHANGE COMPANIES THAT ACTUALLY ALLOW PEOPLE TO USE THEIR OWN MONEY TO PURCHASE BITCOINS???

2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Wallet not connecting… on: May 06, 2015, 12:53:51 AM
hi everybody!

I am hoping that somebody on this site can help me out here!?

I recently installed Electrum 2.1.1 onto my windows 7 PC and this morning elected to send about 12 bitcoins from an exchange to one of the receiving wallet addresses in my Electrum wallet…

I only noticed afterwards that my Electrum wallet is not connected! It says “Not connected” in the bottom left of the app and the Network circle/icon in the bottom right of the screen is red!

I've tried changing the settings there – it was on “auto” by default – i tried selecting one of the default servers – still wouldn't connect.

So now i'm stuck with this version of Electrum – with its wallet! I dare not uninstall and re-install else i will lose that wallet address to which my coins have been sent!

I hope that somebody can advise me on how i can get this Electrum wallet to connect!? I dont understand how such a mainstream and popular bitcoin wallet could have an issue like this which could potentially result in the user losing thousands upon thousands of dollars?
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoinwisdom: Load failed, retry after 5 seconds. on: February 06, 2015, 01:16:25 AM
I have used Bitcoinwisdom as a charting app for over a year now and have never had an issues with it!

This morning I had a tab on Firefox reserved for Bitcoinwisdom (as usual) and noticed that i was not logged in on Bitcoinwisdom... so i decided to actually log in for a change.

BIG MISTAKE!!!

Since then i constantly get the following error message for most exchanges:

Load failed, retry after 5 seconds.

Probably Reason
    BitcoinWisdom is temporary down
    Domain is not bitcoinwisdom.com
    Network issue

I say MOST and not all, because if i click on Huobi then it actually downloads all data and displays all data/graphics as per normal.
However, if i click on any of the other exchanges on the front page, eg. Bitstamp, BTC-e, Bitfinex then i get the above error!

After restarting my PC a few times and seeing the problem persisted, I tried to find a solution to this by googling...
one solution which seemed to come up a few times was to change my DNS settings to that of Google (USA).
But that has not worked!!

I am now DESPERATE to find a solution to this!! Please help....

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / HOW TO fund exchange accounts from US bank accounts?? on: December 12, 2014, 03:40:15 AM
hi everybody

I am a bitcoin trader working on a relatively thin profit margin via the Localbitcoins website. My main (and biggest) problem at the moment is HOW to use my US bank accounts to fund one or more bitcoin exchanges so that i can BUY bitcoins there. I am not interested in selling bitcoins on the exchanges at all ... i prefer to do that via LocalBitcoins site.

I am hoping that somebody out there who is already successfully doing this will share exactly HOW they do this with the rest of us who would like to know how.
I know some very successful traders who are already doing this, but they refuse to give me any details on how they do it.

Perhaps i am just looking into a solid brick wall, and am failing to see an open gate which is just to the left or right of my periphery vision... ?

But this is my current view of the problem:
1. I have money in my US bank account(s) but see it as problematic to get some of that money into a bitcoin exchange due to the following reasons:
A. Assuming i find an exchange to which i can send money to at an acceptable cost i am afraid that the bank(s) will pick up my transfer as a transfer to a bitcoin exchange and will then close my bank account!
B. Even if i find a bank/exchange combination that gels together then there's the issue of conversion costs, i.e. the costs involved in getting say 1000 USD into my exchange account ... how much of that 1000 USD will actually reach my account?
Just as one example... btc-e.com allows for (international) wire transfers and Money Polo as a way of getting money into your btc-e account, but for each of these methods they take off 1% of the deposited amount! Notwithstanding that, the actual method of transfer (eg banks involved in transfer or Money Polo itself) will typically take about 3 to 4% of the transferred amount in fees!! So thats a total of between 4 and 5% of your money to be transferred that is GONE! So out of 1000 USD you probably wont get more than 950 USD arriving in your BTC-e account, with which you must now purchase coins.
Is this still profitable if there is only an approximate 5% margin for profit?  I dont see how... ??

I would GREATLY appreciate the opinions and especially the experiences of other TRADERS out there who face similar challenges? How do they make it work and still make a profit on selling bitcoins?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / When is the next Gox update supposed to be happening?? on: February 23, 2014, 08:32:29 AM
Is it monday 24 feb 2014 at noon local time (Tokyo)?

Then one will be able to gauge whether or not this latest ridiculous rise is sustainable or not.
6  Economy / Web Wallets / BTC-e withdrawal issues? on: February 11, 2014, 03:34:42 AM

I don't want to cause any undue concern here, but I've never had any issues withdrawing coins from BTC-e before - up until this point.

The final step in withdrawing is that they send you a confirmation email - which you can then confirm or cancel ...
Today I've seen that the confirmation email just never arrives!!?  I've tried about 30 times already ... no email!! Therefore no withdrawal.

The funny thing is - I logged a ticket with them about it and the email associated with the ticket landed in my inbox in less than 1 second flat, so clearly there's no issue with them using my email address.
Yet the withdrawal confirmation email(s) simply never arrive!  Therefore coin withdrawals have effectively been halted!

at least in my case they have.

Anyone else having issues?
7  Economy / Service Discussion / BTC China - can they be trusted?? on: December 06, 2013, 10:23:26 AM
I recently began trading on BTC China because I heard that they do not have any transaction fees at this point.
I opened an account there and was happy with the level of intrusion required in order to verify my details - eg supplied my mobile number - with the understanding that I would not be able to deposit/withdraw fiat without supplying further identification details.

I then uploaded bitcoins to my account on a few occasions, and traded in and out of yuan a couple of times and enjoyed the experience knowing that I'm very new at this and could "practice" trading here due to the zero trading fees policy which they currently have.

Suddenly a short time ago - after I had uploaded some more bitcoins to my account - I noticed that the website would not allow me to do anything except for direct me to a new form entitled "
Please provide identification information to continue" ...
Here is asks for more personal info such as passport numbers etc - which i am not comfortable supplying!

I wish to emphasise that my understanding of the terms and conditions were that the limited personal info I had already supplied up until this point - eg mobile number - was sufficient for the purposes of trading - with the limitation that i could not deposit/withdraw yuan fiat.

I have emailed their help desk for assistance but am afraid they will not assist me. After all I had emailed their help desk a few days ago asking for assistance with their API details not working for me, and got absolutely no response from them whatsover.

Now they're sitting with a chunk of my bitcoins and i'm powerless to do anything about it!!

8  Other / Beginners & Help / ID Verification on BTC China??? on: December 04, 2013, 05:05:29 AM
G'Day

I was wondering if anybody whose been trading on BTC China is able to confirm what they can and cannot do without ID verification?
I have already opened an account with BTC China, but am not really keen to be 'verified' unless its absolutely nescessary for what I want to do on their exchange - which is simply to transfer/upload some bitcoins to my wallet there and then trade with these in and out of yuan and then eventually withdraw those bitcoins back out to my paper wallet...

In other words at no stage will I be depositing yuan into my account nor will i be withdrawing yuan out of my account ... i will simply be depositing, trading and then withdrawing bitcoins!

Can anybody please confirm or deny whether I can do this with an account which has no id verification?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / newbie but keen on: December 04, 2013, 01:22:29 AM
hi All

I've known about bitcoins for well over a year now, but dismissed it as an investment option until about 2 weeks ago - the same time the rest of the world became aware of it!!   Shocked
So yeh - btc was well on its way to $1000 and i figured I've probably missed the boat! I have in the meantime converted some fiat into the system, but have concentrated on ltc instead as i figured that would have more potential upside at this late stage.

Been taking a bit of a beating on BTC-e lately  Sad

My immediate aim is to get past the forum newbie tab so that i can interact with some of the forum members directly   Smiley
