1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Free BTC at MIT on: April 29, 2014, 02:17:03 PM
http://bitcoin.mit.edu/announcing-the-mit-bitcoin-project/

Wow $100 for free, like the students at MIT need more free money.  How about giving it to a homeless shelter instead?
2  Economy / Service Discussion / FBI investigating Gox on: February 26, 2014, 05:22:51 PM
This is just out:

FBI Launches Probe Into "Criminal Violations" By Mt.Gox

*FBI SAID TO BE PROBING POSSIBLE CRIMINAL VIOLATIONS BY MT. GOX
*U.S. SAID TO REQUEST DOCUMENTS FROM BITCOIN SERVICE PROVIDERS
*MANHATTAN U.S. ATTORNEY SAID TO BE REVIEWING MT. GOX SHUTDOWN

Finally, I guess the authorities couldn't turn a blind eye any longer.
3  Economy / Gambling / 500% ponzi here it comes! on: February 25, 2014, 06:01:59 PM
What's to stop a 1000% ponzi?  at what point will people stop sending money and losing money?
4  Economy / Gambling / Need a book that will have spring training mlb on: February 22, 2014, 12:36:31 AM
Just found out bitbook won't have spring training.
5  Economy / Speculation / Price manipulators on: February 21, 2014, 03:25:39 PM
I often trade on a site with a low amount of trades because I like how it gets less attention and it's more likely to pay out when I request funds.  Yesterday I saw like 10 trades that went WAY below the current bid/sell spread.  I have no idea how someone was able to manipulate the price down but I'm sure it's happening on other sites as well.  Can you just put in buy and sells limit order at the exact moment and they'll get matched and ignore the better prices in the orders that are already out there?  I did inform the owner and they said they would take action against the account that did it but I was like, wait, you needed me to tell you, you're not watching it yourself for stuff like that? WTF
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Best summary of Mt Gox statement on: February 20, 2014, 06:54:54 PM
From zerohedge:

In summary, all BTC withdrawals re-frozen for another week...blamed on a small group of protesters hanging around out front of the offices looking for their money... another day in bitcoin land...
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Boston has a Bitcoin ATM on: February 20, 2014, 02:27:15 PM
Has anyone used it?  There is an article in the press section about the "first" Bitcoin ATM but not sure if this one was first or not.

http://www.boston.com/blogs/news/opinion/bostoncomment/2014/02/south_stations_bitcoin_atm_sign_of_things_to_come.html

What can I even do with it?  I'm a little embarrassed to be seen at it frankly, unless it becomes more popular.
8  Economy / Gambling / BEWARE PONZIS on: February 17, 2014, 06:54:07 PM
Most aren't paying anything and then the rest pay for a few days and then you'll get nothing back.  I'm so sick of them taking over this forum, mostly by the same few people who just keep making new ponzis.  Get a clue people.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / got 1 satoshi sent to address half hour after I created it on: February 14, 2014, 03:19:44 PM
I know there are a bunch of these enjoy sochi sending 1 satoshi, but this is the  "Play and win" address.  Literally 25 minutes after I created a new address at an exchange the address got this 1 satoshi deposit (unconfirmed) which I assume will be a double spend.  My question is HOW could they have known about this address that I literally just created?

EDIT:  I sent .25 btc to the address via bitbook.biz 25 minutes before they did the 1 satoshi.  Do they have a script or something that sends the 1 satoshi to any address that does a transaction, and they check via blockchain?  This is ridiculous!
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / This Enjoy Sochi bologna... on: February 13, 2014, 06:29:14 PM
I just got another .00000001 x 2 from the Enjoy and Sochi addresses.  It seems to keep coming every day.  WTF is the point of this, it's getting annoying.  Then it just gets erased because I assume it's a double spend attempt.  Is there anything they could be trying to do to my wallet, or what is the point of this?
11  Economy / Service Discussion / CampBX...watch out guys, is it gone? on: January 30, 2014, 11:41:01 PM
Someone in a thread on Service Announcements posted they tried to e-mail CampBX and it bounced back.  NOT a good sign.  And they said no responses to support tickets and withdrawals but I already knew about that.  Anyone have ANY contact from them lately?  They had also erased their Facebook page.  If this is true there needs to be a BIG notice put somewhere for people not to deposit there!

EDIT: Just checked and they put their Facebook page back up.  I assume they did it temporarily to erase bad messages on there but bad messages are popping up again.    It is AMAZING that those fools will put up a message "we are closing due to inclement weather" but they do not respond to all the other MASSIVE issues people are having!
12  Economy / Gambling / Tennis bad beat on: January 30, 2014, 10:37:56 PM
So I had strycova +4.5.  She loses first set 6-3.  Then she gets to tiebreak in second set.  If she loses tiebreak, I win the bet.  Instead, she wins the tiebreak and now gets demolished in the 3rd set, so you lose even though it's a close match (which is what you hope for having +4.5 games).  Oh the humanity!
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / how do you buy/sell in person? on: January 24, 2014, 04:32:23 PM

I have some BTC and looking to sell in person as the exchanges are so slow.  I'm asking people who have done this before - how do you do it?  I might do localbitcoins.com or advertise on this board.  But how do you arrange the logistics after you agree on a price?  You meet, and one person has cash, but how can you handle the transaction?  I was thinking I could go online on my phone and send him the BTC while we're meeting, he can confirm I sent it, and then he'll hand me the cash.  I guess the only weak spot is that after I send it he could just walk away and not give me the cash?  Anyone have advice?  thanks
14  Economy / Gambling / Aussie tonight on: January 22, 2014, 07:57:19 PM
I feel like Cibulkova comes in tonight.  Her along with Li.  The odds on Cibulkova, you would think she'd be more of a longshot here but she's not, so I think she'll in.

If I helped you out, please join Bitbook with this link:

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Setting up 503(b) to accept bitcoin donations on: January 07, 2014, 04:03:04 AM
My wife works at a non profit in the Boston area. I did a little research and it looks like there aren't many charities set up to take BTC donations so I think this would be a great untapped area to raise money. I think I could advise her how to set up their website to take BTC donations but does anyone have experience with the following?:

How should they report the BTC donations? As their fiat value at the time of donation?

Should they just try to use the BTC to buy stuff the charity needs, or can they convert the BTC to cash?

Is this something bitpay can help with or should I just tell the charity to set up a random address on their own?

Any other issues anyone can think of?
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Overstock on: December 20, 2013, 06:13:13 PM
I just saw Overstock will accept BTC in 2014.  I checked the BTC price, I figured this would help it go up, but it's not really moving.  When did the news come out?
17  Economy / Services / Legal services for sale on: December 17, 2013, 04:03:38 AM
I'm a lawyer in Massachusetts and federal court. Has anyone bet tried this?  I can perform legal services in Massachusetts only.  I mostly performed civil work but can advise on criminal matters but know that i am not as experienced.  Has anyone ever tried this and been successful?  I don't think there are any ethical issues, is anyone aware of any?
18  Economy / Scam Accusations / CampBX on: December 16, 2013, 07:27:47 PM
At what point is this a scam?

Waiting on a withdrawal for 1 month now.  Submitted tickets and was told there was a 2 week delay.  2, 3, now 4 weeks have gone by and they recently said they'd handle it but I still have the funds in my account with the "pending" withdrawal.  This is for a USPS money order, so there should be no logistical issues.  Just walk to the post office with money and mail it to me...
19  Economy / Lending / .001 loan, will pay back .002 in 2 weeks on: December 12, 2013, 09:32:04 PM
As proof I will have the funds you can see I'm in the Primedice sig campaign and, as long as I make a few more posts, I'll be getting .03 from Stunna on 12/17.  Thanks, need ASAP.
