Another year, another 4 figure Ethereum is currently playing out, just $100 or so dollars from all time high. But what investments will perform better in 2021; Ethereum and further 2.0 launch with 1.8 billion Ether locked in staking, or DeFi projects with their locked markets cap of currently 6.6 million Ether?
I think ETH will do very well, but I have a suspicion that certain DeFi projects will out perform eventually, even if dump much further in the next bear market in a year or so. Personally I hope to accumulate more Ether for next year by investing in defi this year, knowing that some have 10-100x potential still,What do you think?

Scientists Turn Copper into ‘Gold’ — Will Bitcoin Replace as Store of Value?  According to a new paper published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, researchers in China have made a groundbreaking discovery that could profoundly impact the face of the precious metals landscape — and provide bitcoin with an opportunity to shine. Scientists Turn Copper into Substance ‘Almost Identical’ to Gold Per SCMP, a team of scientists at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Liaoning have developed a method to turn cheap, plentiful copper into a substance that is “almost identical” to gold, accomplishing what alchemists have for hundreds of years believed could be a gateway to endless riches. Lest anyone protest that this sounds like something out of the National Enquirer or one of the more fantastical medieval travel narratives, the study was published in the peer-reviewed journal Science Advances, and the methodology relies on chemical reactions rather than secret incantations. To create the pseudo-gold, the scientists shot a payload of hot, electrically-charged argon gas at a target made out of copper. The ionized gas particles dislodged copper atoms from the target, and these atoms fell onto a collecting device where they cooled off into a pile of microscopic sand — each grain just a few nanometers in size. The scientists then tested the properties of these copper particles by using them as a catalyst in a chemical reaction to turn coal into alcohol. Confirming their research, they found that the nanoparticles “achieved catalytic performance extremely similar to that of gold or silver,” Sun and the other researchers wrote, explaining that it can resist high temperatures, oxidization, and erosion much better than standard copper. Will Bitcoin Replace Gold as Store of Value?  This scientific development raises the question of whether the gold standard of economic hedging could soon lose its luster, forcing gold bugs and other stock market bears to turn to alternative assets. Could this give bitcoin an opening to become a mainstream store of value? Though proponents frequently cite bitcoin’s utility as a successor to the yellow metal, the answer remains no, at least for the foreseeable future. Sun and the other researchers explained that, at least in its current incarnation, the process could not practically be used to create counterfeit gold coins or bars since its density remains the same as normal copper. Nevertheless, anticipating future improvements in the methodology, ordinary retail investors who purchase precious metals for speculative purposes could be taken in by this pseudo-gold if significant quantities ever exit the industrial sector and are repurposed by counterfeiters. This would exacerbate a longstanding problem in precious metals investing, potentially weakening consumer trust in bullion as a store of value. Moreover, even the production of this pseudo-gold for its intended purpose — industrial applications — could have a significant impact on the value of the true yellow metal. While the vast majority of gold demand is speculative, the material also plays an important role in the production of electronic devices, a fact that crypto skeptics often cite when objecting to the thesis that bitcoin is “digital gold.” At the very least, the material’s replacement in industrial manufacturing should place equivalent downward pressure on the gold price, though it’s likely that psychological factors would further weaken investor confidence and steepen the asset’s decline. It is extremely a good performance (btc trending at $24345, as at the time of writing this post ) no doubts for the first crypto, and it amazed me that BTC keep creating new cryptocurrecy records in December 2020, a proof that more institutional investors has fully reorganized the bitcoins/altcoins technology/development. I think that this achievement will remain unforgettable in the minds of all crypt enthusiasts, investors, traders and hunters in the future. It has been wonderful this year. What is your opinion?

In recent years, investing in Bitcoin has been seen as a possible way to diversify one’s investment portfolio. As a result of COVID-19 and what’s happened to the stock markets, an intriguing question has been brought up: is investing in Bitcoin as good as investing as gold?
Just a little while ago, Stanley Druckenmiller, an American billionaire, spoke on CNBC about his views on Bitcoin: that it “could be an asset class that has a lot of attraction as a store of value to both millennials and the new West Coast money.”
Why Druckenmiller’s views matter
His views were the inspiration for this article! Druckenmiller is a notable figure in the global financial industry due to his 30+ years of experience in financial management. For a self-declared “dinosaur” who owns a ton of gold, mentioning that he now owns some Bitcoin sure is something, especially for many who strongly believe in the cryptocurrency.
In addition, Druckenmiller publicly recognizing that “Bitcoin is an “asset class” with a potentially strong investment case for some investor groups” (as shared by Coindesk) makes it a “worthy validation”. What’s perhaps significant is how Druckenmiller’s views came right after Bitcoin’s correlation with gold hit an all-time high.
Bitcoin & gold’s all-time high correlation
Coin Telegraph found that Bitcoin and gold “reached a record high of 68% as Bitcoin hit US$12,000” in early August 2020, though this “correlation crashed by 20% the following week”.
Despite this, some say that Bitcoin could become digital gold due to the current pandemic’s uncertainty as investors veer towards assets that store value, i.e. Bitcoin and gold.
In fact, on the morning that this blog post was written (November 18, 2020), BBC reported that Bitcoin hit a three-year high of US$18,000/€15,000 as a result of this: investors “flocking to cryptocurrencies during the pandemic-driven volatility on global stock markets”.
Bitcoin and gold
Is having Bitcoin as good as having gold in your investment portfolio? While the debate goes on out there, there are valid comparisons between Bitcoin and gold as investments.
Rarity
The total supply of Bitcoin is 21 million, all of which will come into circulation by 2140 due to Bitcoin halving. Similarly, with gold, no one knows when all of it will be mined from the earth. In fact, there may even be gold being mined from an asteroid in the near future as the US Money Reserve has reported!
Exchange for money
Bitcoin and gold can both be exchanged for fiat currency, and vice versa. What’s interesting is that while Bitcoin acts as a currency as you can use it as a form of payment, the same can’t be said for gold. Gold itself can’t be used as a form of payment.
Baseline value
Both gold and Bitcoin have tremendous baseline values due to the way that they are used. Gold has been used in many ways throughout history, while Bitcoin brought a new focus to blockchain technology and is enabling global financial inclusion.
Transparency and safety
With Gold’s established trading system, it’s difficult to steal it and to pass off any imitations. Hence, its transparency as it’s difficult to corrupt. Likewise, Bitcoin is difficult to corrupt because of its decentralized system that’s encrypted. While both are transparent, gold is deemed safer than Bitcoin as Bitcoin’s infrastructure to ensure safety is not yet fully in place.
Volatility
Fox Business states that “gold is considered a safe haven because it has acted as a store of value, maintaining its purchasing power for thousands of years”. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is known for its ‘wild’ volatility with its recent high of US$18,000 on November 18 and hovering around US$4,000 1.5 years ago.
Can Bitcoin be considered the “gold” of crypto investment?
While many do indeed see Bitcoin as a safe haven like gold, and Druckenmiller himself recognizing that Bitcoin can be an asset class, others such as Shane Oliver (head of investment strategy and chief economist, AMP Capital) and Marie Tatibouet (CMO, Gate IO) are cautioning against this perspective. The reasons? Volatility, liquidity and rate of adoption. Still, this hasn’t stopped crypto enthusiasts from believing it could be.

Bitcoin has accomplished a lot over the last few years and deserves a lot of credit for it but has not achieved its goal yet. Bitcoin is set to achieve global protection whereby everyone will accept its use in terms of payment methods and apply it to their business and transactions.

As of now they are accepting Bitcoin, Dash and XPT (CryptoBuyer's * coin). Soon they will accept more alts. Which is a great news for all cryptocurrency lovers. For this reason my personal target for bitcoin on 2021 will be $ 25k at least. What about yours?
