21  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Crash and wallet file erasing? on: October 05, 2017, 11:32:56 AM
Hi there. I'm a long time user of Electrum, actually running the latest version. Never had serious issues with this wallet since i use it and holding quite a serious amount in it.
I had this strange thing happened to me yesterday for the first time.

I was running my pc with electrum wallet opened in my programs when suddendly the pc crashed (win 10) making a new "blue screen of death" that I have never had the pleasure to see before, then my pc collected issue data and restarted.

after restart i went opening electrum and i noticed he was prompting me for a new wallet! What the heck i thought... Luckily i'm a skilled user and got my seed in a secret place where i can find for these necessities and i restored the missing wallet with that.

I just wonder why i got my electrum wallet deleted with the crash??
It has to be specified that I had many electrum *.wallet in the same folder.
Default wallet and another wallet didn't disappeared, but the one i was using yes.

Did this happened to anyone else around here? Or can someone more technically skilled explain to me what could happened?

Best regards.

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / BCC BCH seems on block stalling. Diff way to high. on: August 02, 2017, 12:13:49 PM
Is there anyone out there still mining BCC BCH (BitcoinCash)?

Seems the blocks are stuck since 12 hours now according to https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/blocks and https://cash.coin.dance/blocks.

Does anyone has maybe any updates for this?

30  Economy / Economics / Could a Labrador sniff out Bitcoins? on: August 13, 2012, 06:10:18 AM
Seems like an ideal, if legally questionable, use for Bitcoins.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/nose-for-money--labradors-hone-in-on-hidden-fortunes-20120813-244at.html

Police cracking down on tax dodgers smuggling cash out of Italy in their shoes, underwear and even cigarettes have announced a steep increase in seizures, thanks in part to the use of labradors trained to sniff out bank notes.

In the first seven months of 2012, police at ports, airports and border crossings seized 41 million euros ($47 million) - up 78 per cent year on year - from travellers trying to avoid creeping austerity taxes in Italy.

31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / News.com.au mention of bitcoin - Party drugs popular with online shoppers on: January 07, 2012, 02:34:38 PM

Not exactly the best association to make to with bitcoins, but it's getting the currency's name out there in popular Australian media (online and print).

http://www.news.com.au/national/party-drugs-popular-with-online-shoppers/story-e6frfkvr-1226239065881

"Once in, the website brazenly advertises cocaine, LSD, ecstasy and other illicit substances, which are purchased with virtual currency called "Bitcoins" and delivered to the buyer through Australia Post."
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Lost bitcoins... found on: September 22, 2011, 12:43:26 PM

I've just switched on a PC I haven't used for 3 months.  Had no need to use it until today to recover some data.  Just for the heck of it I loaded the bitcoin client (the machine was once used for GPU mining) and saw I had 0.67BTC.  Big suprise, I thought the wallet had none.  I've left the client running and it's slowly but steadily ticking over with more and more bitcoins added to the balance.

I had absolutely no idea I had any in the Bitcoin ether.  A pleasant susprise, to be sure, but it also highlighted to me how easy it is to forget bitcoins and possibly lose them forever.  I wonder how many have already been lost and cannot be recovered?
33  Economy / Speculation / Mt Gox having issues again on: July 31, 2011, 02:06:41 PM
Day low price just went to $2 (as reported on Bitcoin Charts), high was $14.2, and now all trades have disappeared.  Not really good enough.

I'm selling a PCIe 1x to 16x adapter with 19cm flexible cable with molex connector.  Unwanted purchase from the USA.  Would suit an Australian buyer who wants the item in a couple of days rather than a week or two.  Cable is new and has not been used.

Price: 1.4 BTC inc postage in Australia.

Please private message me if interested.
35  Economy / Economics / Press coverage and Bitcoin's rise on: June 04, 2011, 05:14:21 PM

Long time miner, new forum member.

The recent significant increase in a Bitcoin's value versus the US dollar may be related to online press coverage.  Daily Reckoning has finally noticed Bitcoin and run a lengthy article on 3 June:  http://dailyreckoning.com/an-emerging-free-market-currency/

Daily Reckoning's general world view is pro-gold, pro-silver, anti inflation and anti government intervention.  It has a reasonably wide readership.
