lololol... how much more sad can our country get? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2747965/I-ve-never-seen-Border-Patrol-Filmmaker-shows-Ebola-infected-ISIS-terrorist-sneak-Lake-Erie-Canada-Cleveland-RICIN-Rock-Roll-Hall-Fame.htmlFrom the article: Filmmaker dresses as 'Ebola-infected ISIS terrorist' to sneak across Lake Erie from Canada to Cleveland and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without being challenged once Conservative filmmaker's latest provocation shows lax security on America's northern border James O'Keefe filmed a play-acting black-clad jihadi with a British accent carrying fake ricin and pretend Ebola across Lake Erie and into Cleveland He managed to disembark, walk to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame carrying a duffel bag, and enter the building without anyone challenging him UK citizens can enter Canada without a visa; James Foley's executioner was believed to be a Brit 'The only coast guard vessels we saw were tied up at their docks,' O'Keefe told MailOnline; one boat captain said he has never seen Border Patrol on the waters The right-wing documentarian's latest work follows an August video that showed 'Osama bin Laden' sneaking into Texas from Mexico Seriously... How much dumber can we be, do we really think we can be so lax and sit around again, how much longer until another 09/11 bs happens because we are so stupid about securing the border. like really.

This person posted about a service they were offering which is "escrow"... Their website is complete BS and anyone who ever made a website can tell he used a template or hastily set it up and has random stock photos and it is a complete joke. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=770665.msg8689921#msg8689921 I reported him for 1. Potential scamming as it is all done manually and he is anoobie account and 2. It was in the wrong section and I pointed that out. His thread just got moved to the right section within seconds of my report, so someone else must have also reported him...then maybe a few seconds later I reported it and my accuracy goes down but I was right(originally). Just wondering how that works out.

Morning! Not sure if most people are up to date on this or not, but an interesting thing happened recently. Over the past few months to years a group of hackers or hacker has been getting into celeb icloud accounts and brute forcing password guessing by basically using the "find my iphone" app or some kind of exploit. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2740003/Celeb-hacker-run-Mystery-man-stole-celeb-nude-pics-admits-running-authorities-deep-web-hackers-congratulate-him.htmlSummary from article: - Man claiming to be in charge of group of hackers who stole nude celebrity pictures is on the run - Posted early on Monday morning to confirm his part in the hack - Then thanked supporters before announcing he was changing location - Another man, Bryan Hamade, 27, denied he was the source of the leak on Monday - He tried to sell intimate pictures of Jennifer Lawrence in return for Bitcoin- He posted images on Reddit and allegedly tried to sell them for $100 each - But he was forced to deny that he was original hacker users identified him - Admitted he had been an 'idiot' and that photo he had tried to sell was fake Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2740003/Celeb-hacker-run-Mystery-man-stole-celeb-nude-pics-admits-running-authorities-deep-web-hackers-congratulate-him.html#ixzz3CA6KdSnTFollow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook 1. This should show that more and more data NEEDS higher levels of encryption. 2. Apple is a namebrand everyone knows and the common person "usually" thinks it is a modern tech marvel. 3. Now that so many female celebs have been hacked will they be caught dead in an Apple advertisement? 4. Bitcoin donations were asked for and there was at least one other person involved who said they were "just a collector of pictures" and were asking for donations or they wouldn't release them.5. Do you think this once again paints BTC in a bad light? I do and it is very annoying having BTC constantly thrown into random things. I get that obviously you would do BTC/altcoins for something like this to avoid getting caught or found. But it really gets annoying seeing dickheads make BTC look worse and worse. BTC was always seen by the masses as being used for drugs/prostitutes/gambling/shady shit and it obviously is used for those things on a small % of all transactions(just like fiat is also). So in short, once again BTC is going to be put into some "shady shit" classification because the actions of a few hackers or collectors or whatever. IF YOU ARE GOING TO HACK AND ASK FOR PAYMENT, FOR THE LOVE OF BTC, REQUEST PAYMENT IN DOGECOIN OR SOME BULLSHIT ALTCOIN INSTEAD THEN CONVERT TO BTC AT LEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /endrant

Good morning! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-08-27/fbi-said-to-be-probing-whether-russia-tied-to-jpmorgan-hacking.html" Russian hackers attacked the U.S. financial system in mid-August, infiltrating and stealing data from JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) and at least one other bank, an incident the FBI is investigating as a possible retaliation for government-sponsored sanctions, according to two people familiar with the probe.
The attack resulted in the loss of gigabytes of sensitive data, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the probe is still preliminary. Authorities are investigating whether recent infiltrations of major European banks using a similar vulnerability are also linked to the attack, one of the people said. " According to this report, Russians have been attacking and hacking American banks. We all know every country has hackers that work for the government, thanks to Snowden we know, and that they do target banks and businesses in other countries. As more and more companies are hacked using exploits and security loopholes in security software, it just makes me see more and more that Bitcoin is going to be needed at some level(or some other type of encrypted type of currency). If Bitcoin still isn't used as an everyday type of currency where people spend it on everyday purchases, then maybe, just maybe it can be used on securing wealth storage on a large scale safely. Obviously exchanges get hacked and so do banks. But what if the US government stored 10% of all US wealth in Bitcoin or something else? Something that is secure and at this point almost impossible to hack cold storage type of thing. I say almost impossible because there is always a chance, even though it might be a 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000001% chance of getting the exact details for a random cold wallet. How should governments take advantage of the benefits of Bitcoin?

So how does this happen then? Was their server where the main hot wallet was storing bitcoins not multisig for protection or how does that work? Things that make you go hmmm. http://www.coindesk.com/black-market-cannabis-road-hacked-loses-100000-bitcoin/ Multisig employed
The success of the attack is particularly notable given that Cannabis Road had moved to integrate safeguards aimed at better protecting user funds through multi-signature technology, an evolution of the traditional wallet offering that introduces an arbitrator to the transaction process.
In a May interview with DeepDotWeb, Crypto indicated that Cannabis Road was using a hybrid version of multisig, however, in part to make the technology easier for its customers to use.
At the time, he indicated that Cannabis Road had added three levels of multisig in response to a rise in attacks against illicit websites, explaining:
“All three levels start off the same, asking for public keys of the buyer, vendor and market to create the shared (multisignature) address. The buyer sends funds to the shared address. Once the buyer is happy, the buyer agrees to finalize the order, this is where the three levels are offered.”
Two more advanced levels were added on top of this service, both of which put restrictions on the situations in which users would be asked to send their private keys.

What about it?
The doge community has their meme and their coin and people like it and associate good things with it.
What could a bitcoin meme be besides bashing fiat/drugs/illegal bs? Something that has the right optics. A word I don't ever see on these forums. I see people saying the benefits of bitcoin and how this and that and blah and no waiit wait waittt just listen to me for 2 hours about what it is and how you NEED TO USE IT.
But what about the optics of bitcoin? I really don't see anyone doing anything about that.
Optics [op-tiks]
Examples Word Origin
noun
(used with a plural verb) the way a situation, action, event, etc., is perceived by the public or by a particular group of people: ...
Examples: "The optics on this issue are pretty good for the Democrats." "Administrators worry about the bad optics of hiring new staff during a budget crisis."
Anyone trying to optic this up or whut sun?

Hey guys. I have been on here awhile, might as well make a reputation thread. I don't do any trades or anything on here so I am not really worried about that. I have done two give aways where I asked some people to give me feedback on my YT channel. Here are the links to those. First one gave away I beleive about 90,000 to 100,000 mooncoins when it was worth 1 or 2 satoshi each. Second link is my give away of .0011 btc to up to 5 people. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=725612.0 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400714.0If anyone wants to leave some feedback feel free! Hi. I am looking for an ad campaign that does not limit me to 400 maximum posts per month. The other signature campaigns are good, but the 2 best campaigns I see are limited to 400 posts and the one pays .001 and the other pays .0012 per constructive post. I am prepared to make 250+ constructive posts per week. I will target the subforum/subforums of your choice, lets say you want me to post in Bitcoin Discussion. I can also make 1 or 2 topics each week and really try to engage as many people as possible. I will try to make a response to most of the topics that do come up for maximum visibility. So when anyone looks at the Bitcoin Discussion section, they will most likely see one of my responses with your ad in it! I will even post some things on youtube comments as well if you would like. I will be a Senior Member on August 19th, which is when the system updates next. My conditions: I would like to be paid weekly and I will take the hit on the .0001 fee. If you have high trust I will negotiate on being paid every 2 weeks to once a month. Will only accept offers from long standing members with no negative trust. I am looking to make 400 to 500 bucks a month by helping you Please PM me or discuss on here thanks!

Heyoooo. I was just catching up on this show called The Good Wife and a few months back they had an interesting episode where they are trying to arrest the top guy who runs silk road, aka DPR. They find one of the staff who worked for silk road and try to get him to point the finger. they also name dropped silk road like 4 times and bitcoin 5 or 6. Very interesting hehe, i like the show because it is interesting and thought you guys might want to see it if you missed it or want to see some scandalous stuff! they do a whole take on "Dread Pirate Roberts" silk road assassination hiring thing, not sure how big this show really is so maybe no one on here posted about it. anyways. here is a link to watch the episode, it is about a few minutes in is when it all starts. http://watchseries.lt/episode/the_good_wife_s5_e20.html season 5 episode 20 for those of you who want to find your own streaming site. enjoy!

I see a lot of talk going around on here, and I want to really know the truth.
Did the CIA/FBI/NSA get their beginning by riding the coattails of the Bitcoin protocol? This is potentially groundbreaking.
Edit: This is satire... OR IS IT!

This is really shocking to me. These are the people who are blaming bitcoin for prostitution, drugs, illegal money transfers, fraud, hacking etc and you can see it if you watch any left leaning news show, trust me when I say I have seen it many times and way more on the left leaning places... These people come together and get their story straight, then they all report the same thing in their daily news shows/websites/articles/newspapers. Talk about committing fraud and getting so many news organizations together on a lie that it seems like the truth because everyone is reporting it. This group is probably responsible for most of the negative things ever said about bitcoin. Remember, the people most against bitcoin are typically democrat/liberal minded, they WANT the government to control everything, ESPECIALLY MONEY. http://eagnews.org/1000-member-secretive-progressive-journalist-group-uncovered/

Talk about hitting a jackpot in terms of hacking data!!!! http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/06/technology/russian-gang-said-to-amass-more-than-a-billion-stolen-internet-credentials.htmlHoly crapppppppppppp!!! Hacking over 1.2 Billion usernames and passwords should be a wake up call to normal users on anything. This strongly and proudly screams WE NEED MORE ENCRYPTION. I hope more people turn to bitcoin to protect their money. Here is a short excerpt from the article. """"" A Russian crime ring has amassed the largest known collection of stolen Internet credentials, including 1.2 billion user name and password combinations and more than 500 million email addresses, security researchers say.The records, discovered by Hold Security, a firm in Milwaukee, include confidential material gathered from 420,000 websites, including household names, and small Internet sites. Hold Security has a history of uncovering significant hacks, including the theft last year of tens of millions of records from Adobe Systems.Hold Security would not name the victims, citing nondisclosure agreements and a reluctance to name companies whose sites remained vulnerable. At the request of The New York Times, a security expert not affiliated with Hold Security analyzed the database of stolen credentials and confirmed it was authentic. Another computer crime expert who had reviewed the data, but was not allowed to discuss it publicly, said some big companies were aware that their records were among the stolen information.""""" While I do agree the government needs to be reduced and they need to stop over promising on entitlements and welfare and all these other programs, I also advocate for the government to do certain things. If you didn't know about corporate espionage here are some estimates of how much is lost to other countries that steal our secrets. Keep in mind government policy is the primary driver for why businesses get data stolen from them, when they are not required to protect their own data at a higher level it gets stolen.Estimations of having 500 Billion USD worth of innovations stolen per year, which if you take a average tax rate of lets say 20% on that is 100 Billion USD the government loses in taxes each year, and 400 Billion companies lose overall. I would say in this scenario if you are against having the government make some policies for this(which causes the U.S. to get hacked because of bad policies already put in place) than you are advocating that we should let people get more innovations stolen and lose tons of money. Applying 100 Billion towards taxes is a huge lift that would go a long way to paying down our national debt. Especially letting companies bring their overseas money that is stored in different countries back over for a reduced tax(which most companies leave it in other countries because the penalty to bring back is way too high so we never get any taxation benefits from them). http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/326002-the-staggering-cost-of-economic-espionage-against-the-us/http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-15/china-corporate-espionage-boom-knocks-wind-out-of-u-s-companies.htmlhttp://www.mcafee.com/us/resources/reports/rp-economic-impact-cybercrime.pdf

I really don't have much faith in the bitcoin foundation, especially with the shady people they have hired a little while back. The organization to me screams of something going on shady in the background and the loss of Andreas was a blow.
I don't have the time to make a foundation nor the know how to program at higher levels and do any of that kind of thing. But honestly, if someone started a new one and it gained some momentum and had features for the community to interact and be controlled by the community with some kind of voting system, I think it would do very well and easily beat out the bitcoin foundation. I think it would easily beat out anything else there is. Forums are OK for spreading information, but they don't have much impact on voting for something or driving a policy. What I am talking about is a system/protocol that lets people vote and actual things happen. Almost like a kick starter type of deal, only with bitcoin.
We need something that is interactive that gives people a voice. Bitcoin already gives others a voice in a different way that is separate from regular currencies. I think it is time we had something that is controlled by the masses for the good of bitcoin.
For example. The Dogecoin by the way of reddit amateurs sponsored the Nascar wrap on a race vehicle and it had a lot of free publicity through the news when it happened(this appeals to low information people like "Joe Smiths" of the world). They sponsored the Jamaican Bob Sled team and also raised money for some chairities that got them into the limelight temporarily and also got some unlikely people to learn about Dogecoin. I do agree Dogecoin is pretty much worthless now that it has crashed but in terms of advertising and getting the community involved they were doing it better and the word was spreading.
I think we need something more like this built into an actual mostly trustless system that is also 100% transparent and doesn't do offline shifting around. I say mostly trustless because someone has to be in charge of where the funds ultimately go and what addresses hold those funds(just like exchanges do). Or maybe there could be an actual protocol built to handle where funds go and people have to vote on it(could get messy).
Thoughts?

How stupid.. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-28/pedophiles-nabbed-as-banks-join-cops-to-follow-the-money-trail.html"" While credit-card payments for child porn on the public Internet have plummeted, huge amounts of material have moved underground, and are often paid for using anonymous wire transfers and the bitcoin virtual currency. "" I love how they make general sweeping statements like this. Really good PR for us... sigh. It just sucks because we don't have a 20 billion dollar news media(or whatever the heck it is) giving us good PR. You know? So I guess we gotta do all we can, grass roots movement with some financial backing and believers. CoinDesk is helpful for sure, but sometimes a little off putting for my tastes. I feel like CoinDesk talks at a higher level so a normal person wouldn't really want to read anything there. I was off put by CoinDesk in the beginning days of my discovering Bitcoin because I didn't really understand anything I was reading there. It is fine we got technical details and blah there, but they need some more Joe Schmo dumbing down of articles for the (dumb)masses. lol.

??
Is there actually anything left to say? If so what is it? If not, why? Unless a major innovation comes outta nowhere like BTC did to begin with, I don't believe much more will happen with BTC. I am for it, but I feel like the only people that are mostly in here are all about making profit off it.
Also before I forget, just because something has a 100 million dollars in transactions per day and is worth X doesn't mean if it goes to 1 billion dollars in transactions per day it will increase by X. It still COULD be worth the same amount, that is generally what currencies do, they stay stable no matter how much it is traded(for the most part). So yall who are like "BTC will be worth 100k USD or EUR each", yeah it will be when a candy bar cost 1,000 USD/EUR each maybe.
just Sayain.
