2  Other / Beginners & Help / 150kh/s+ out of a 9800gt.....? on: December 07, 2013, 06:17:50 PM
Hello Fellow Miners!!!

Briefly browsed the forum to see if this question was asked, didn't see it so I apologize if it had been answered. New to mining, been setting up this computer for about a week starting with a wipe of the hard drive. Finally got it going. Got the computer for free, so I can't complain.

Using cudaminer 20.13.12.01 with a 9800GT to SOLO mine Feathercoins. been tweakin the launch config and came up with:
cudaminer.exe -d 0 -l 189x3 -H 1 -i 0.5 -C 0 -o http://.....etc,etc

When cuda boots, it loads, and the driver crashes but recovers. Cuda continues to run just fine.
Cuda says: Given Launch config L189x3 requires too much memory.
the next line says: using launch config L189x3

A tad contradictory?

then it proceeds to list all my hashing.... at speeds of 150-180kh/s. "Woohoo!!!!" I think...?

*Note* When i used default settings, I was mining at 12-13kh/s.

I have nothing real special software/hardware-wise. 2gb ram. Athalon 64 X2 4000+. One card - the 9800gt. Now these cards sell for 20 bucks on Ebay and consume 75 watts, might be feasible for low budgets trying to mine, for now....

Question is as follows: Is my computer really mining at the speeds it says, although the program said it couldn't load launch config due to requiring too much memory? Are these speeds a false reading? I hope I stumbled on to something here.
Thanks!
