1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / What happens when the last bitcoin is mined on: November 20, 2014, 11:00:13 PM
I understand that we need mining - without it the network does not exist. This topic was discussed a while back but I haven't heard anyone mention it recently. What changes, (if any), in particular are being considered? I fear that the the hashing power devoted towards mining bitcoin will significantly decrease the day the last coin is mined. Surely there will be panic and speculation etc.. Anything being considered to circumvent this? It's getting to be far too late to fork etc and I am not up to date on the current developments in the protocol.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Wallet Versions, New Qt Releases, & Amature Devs on: May 14, 2014, 09:06:00 PM
Hey can we all agree to keep better track of what wallet version is the most current release for each Altcoin...

I see all these stupid coin announcements that say "NEW WALLET," "MANDATORY," "UPGRADE NOW" and there's no release date, no version number, or anything to identify how new this update is and whether or not I have the most current client.

90% of all devs just release a zip file titled "shitcoin-qt.zip" and there's absolutely no way to tell it apart from the "old client"

...I'm a mac user so I'm already dealing with outdated qt clients and lack of support on that end... but lets use some common sense when we publish updates people!

Kiss love you all and best of luck with your endeavors

New to the BTC world. Fascinated by the community and all these cryptocurrencies.

Correct me if I'm wrong but from my brief experience using wallets I have yet to see any companies offer any kind of insurance behind the security of their product. Has anyone heard or discussed plans for this? I think this kind of protection could really add value to the currency. Even just 100BTC  Wink
