I never got around to installing the two additional cards I bought, and I can't spend the time to keep working on these. I need to double check that I have the boxes the first rig came in, but I know I do for the second one.


Both are happily hashing at a combined total of about 7.5MH/s (9.15MH/s with new cards).

I have a new mining rig I've setup with 6x R9 290X's, and I can't get BAMT to notice them.

Which tells me that Linux as a whole is seeing the cards, but cgminer won't use them for some reason.

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a profit switching pool that is manually driven, instead of automatically?

The way a normal multipool works is this:
1. Calculate the current ratio to BTC
2. Switch mining to what is currently the highest calculated in 1
3. Repeat every X minutes.

The main issues with this are usually the following:
1. High reject rates - this may vary based off of the pool, but because profit switching is done so often, there are a lot of rejects.
2. It is a point in time system - this means that when the miners switch, they only mine what is currently the most expensive. This also means that mined coins are ALWAYS on exchanges, which means higher profits for today, but way less for one, two, even 3-4 weeks from now.


My idea is the following: build a pool who has a team of seasoned Scrypt miners behind it. Those who follow new coins, know the general flow of the market and who will invest in new coins when they see opportunity.

This would generally mean that assets can not be pulled out of the pool immediately, but would result in higher BTC amounts on a per user basis.


Ideally, this system would have something like a 5% fee and a system to convert the mined altcoins to BTC at the time of the withdraw request. Because of the human nature of this, things would not be instant, however the amount of BTC drawn at a single MH/s would potentially be much larger than normal.


Any ideas or questions? And would anyone be interested in a scrypt mining pool as mentioned above?

So I'm building a new rig, and having trouble getting into the BIOS to configure things (auto power on, boot from USB, etc.). I'm using one of the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7's as my motherboard, and a few 290Xs from Sapphire.


I have one card plugged into the motherboard through a 16x16 riser, and I can't get it to show anything over HDMI. Am I missing something?

Occasionally BAMT will hang or something changes that I need to restart it. I have tried "shutdown -r now", "reboot" and "coldreboot", all as root, but it just hangs there. It'll kick me out of SSH and seem to restarts, but it doesn't ever start mining again. Any ideas?

Occasionally I need to cycle power on things (one of which is my mining rig), and in order to do that I need to be there and manually turn it off then turn it on. I'd like to find a wifi controllable plug that would do this for me from anywhere.

So I'm working on building a new rig, and I've already purchased some parts, but I could use some advice.

The graphics cards I am using is 6x Sapphire Radeon Tri-X 290x (Yes, expensive cards), and the motherboard is a Gigibyte 990FXA-UD7.

That leaves RAM, PSUs, possibly a PSU connector and a CPU. I'll be using a USB stick with BAMT on it for an OS.

I don't care about CPU mining at all, so cheap and low power is fine with me.

I can't seem to figure out a good config for these cards. I have 5 in my system, and it seems like the best I can get is 650kh/s, which is definitely low. Any suggestions? I'm currently running memory at 1375 and core at 1075.

I'm going to start offering up some custom built mining rigs that's are preconfigured and optimized for the best possible hash rate per card, and would like to get some input from this community.


Would anyone be interested in 270x or 290x mining rigs? I ask because 290x rigs can pull too much current for a 15amp breaker (the standard in households) and even push a 20amp to its limit. I also know 270 miners are a little... Lacking... In some of the rates that they produce.

Does a cost of $4000 for a 5x 280x rig that has a hash rate of about 3750kh/s sound fair? If not, what would you expect a system like this to cost and be willing to pay?


If all goes well, I'll start selling sometime in the next few weeks.
