I am wondering whether altcoins, attract people to get invoked with cryptocurrencies and whether people once they became interested in cryptocurrencies because of an altcoin now also own bitcoin
my first cryptocurrency was bitcoin, but I stopped mining them after ASICS came out, I did have a pre-order for 2 ASICS devices from BFL, but luckily I was able to cancel my pre-order and get my money back, because they were not up to specifications as advertised during the pre-order.
I then sold all the bitcoins I had mined and lost interest in bitcoin.
But then on youtube, where I been following Bill Still, I heard about quark and this lead me back to this forum and then I started mining scrybe coins and quark and now I am a bitcoin holder again and im not selling them.
anyone have a similar experience ?

This forum is running adds for ponzicoin.co
This is an obvious pyramid scheme that will sooner or later collapse for sure and a lot of people will loose their money.
When this happens a lot of people are going to use this as ammunition against bitcoin. Like look bitcoin scam, bitcoin pyramid, bitcoin ponzi etc endorsed by bitcointalk, that what they gonna say.
I think it is a very bad idea for bitcointalk to be running these adds

I am having big problems believing GOX lost 800.000 bitcoins in a couple of years because of the transaction malleability issue.
What if Gox , while it was growing in size, just like the banks decided: "We do not need to hold 100 percent of customer bitcoin in reserve, because at no time will all the customers withdraw all their bitcoin from Gox. "
and then instead of lending out customers bitcoins to others, for interest, Gox decided to simply sell a percentage of the customer bitcoin they held in reserve huh ?
They could not lend out coins they had in reserve because the public would then immediately realize Mt. Gox was fractional reserve banking bitcoin, but if they just sold them on gox themselves pretending it was customers selling them, nobody could find out.
If Gox did this then they were fractional reserve banking bitcoin, diluting the amount of coins (IOU's from Gox) poeple believe they have, and have been driving down the price of bitcoin.

.@Cryptoauction If a KeiserCoin didin't achieve a $1 bn. market cap in less than 90 days after launch I would do @KeiserReport naked. current marketcap of Maxcoin = $ 3,360,229 that is only 997 million short of 1 bilion

We all dont know all the facts yet, but lets see what people think, based on the information that has come out so far, was it deliberate fraud or not ?

I have noticed that ever since DOGE went down in value like about 10 % in 24 hours, There seem to be some folks creating threads about DOGE, with all kinds of topics, like why DOGE is better then Quark and even hosting giveaways that are obviously against the rules.
Seems to me DOGE has a hardcore fanbase, have you guys opened a new offensive or what ?

So Kayne West and his team of pencil pushing lawyers thought they could get rid of coinyecoin , because the coin makes fun of rapper Kayne west calling him a gayfish and such.
Of course Kayne was already familiar with lawyers because he got sued himself a couple of times, I dont know what is was for exactly think he borrowed some tunes from another music milker, yeah I know copyright law, derivative work, bad boy uhum
Anyway so Kayne has failed to ban this coin but he has succeeded in pushing this coin underground. No exchange dares to list this coin because Kayne has filled a lawsuit against anyone that has anything to do with this coin it seems. A new exchange had opened and was trading this coin and it actually was a fair exchange not some scammers but they got scared after their site was mentioned in the lawsuit and they shut their site down also.
But Coinye coin is still alive and kicking. current network hash is 900 MH/s . Kayne did manage to push this coin underground, so well if we underground then let be the underground coin.
I wanna hear your ideas to promote this coin as the underground coin.
Any serious ideas that require some original thought will be rewarded with 1000 Coinyecoin.
So lets hear it.

So all these altcoins claim to be a cryptocurrency
The question is are they really a currency or just something to speculate with ?
Name something you have actually bought with an altcoin and with which altcoin did you buy it ?
I have never bought anything with any altcoin, only thing I ever bought with a crypto currency is Linux stickers, paid for them in bitcoin, that I mined myself, think with the current price of bitcoin it one of the most expensive things I ever bought lol.
So lets hear it, what have you bought with an altcoin ?

So there is yet another new altcoin out coinyecoin, and people are trading it here in the forums, the first scammers have already been busted of course. It has not hit an exchange so far, but lo and behold a new exchange just opened https://0daycoins.com/ where you can trade coinyecoin. Now where have we seen this before ?, remember the new exchange last week, that was the first exchange where you could trade earthcoin, when they were not listed on an exchange yet, everyone lost their coins after that exchange closed after a few days, when they claimed they were hacked and their coins were stolen. So what do you guys and girls think about this new exchange ? legit or a scam ?. And if anyone knows, who is the owner(s) of this exchange ? If you have done successful trades on this brand new exchange and you were actually able to withdraw your coins from it, please post it, with proof from the blockchains.

OK, I took 20 coins from coinedup, they are the exchange that often add new coins first, I left out some of the older coins that have already been established, like DOGE for example, and I wanna hear which coin(s) you think are going to make it. You can vote for maximum 3 coins

I have noticed many threads about the NSA related to bitcoin, many people seem to think the NSA and their hacking abilities pose a threat to bitcoin, some people seem to fear the NSA it seems. (or they just spreading FUD, where the Fear suppose to come from the NSA)
But is this fear justified, does the NSA really want to destroy bitcoin ? I mean if bitcoin is deemed a threat to the national security of the USA , does the US government need to hack it in order to destroy it ? They could just ban it outright could they not ? like they banned the ownership of gold in the past, when gold became a threat to the USD.
I tend to think the NSA likes bitcoin, like a lot of shady deals are now being done in bitcoin instead of cash. the NSA with their dragnet surveillance in the USA and all other countries allied to the USA can pretty much track who is sending bitcoins to whom, much easier for the government then to track who is paying large sums of cash in suitcases.

Everybody is pumping out scrybt coins like crazy all dreaming about becoming the next DOGE and making a ton of money on the pump.
But nobody is really doing something innovative a new coin that is CPU only and I dont mean the Quark algo because there a GPU miner for that already that some people have.
Where is the next CPU coin folks ?

Why on earth do these funny meme coins attract way more attention on this forum then a serious coin like Ron Paul coin ?
Why does the coin of the prophet of free market capitalism perform so poorly, (for now ) against funny meme coins ?
What is the matter with people,
Have we reached the level of 4chan or something ?
