2  Economy / Gambling / Why not create a Gambling platform on Market narrative? on: April 06, 2024, 01:31:25 PM
A few years ago, NFT was launched and it set the market ablaze. Many NFT projects emerged at that time, which left investors confused. They began investing in new NFT projects without understanding them, resulting in significant losses. To this day, these investors have not been able to recover from their losses unless they sold their NFT.

Currently, meme coins are gaining popularity, with a new coin appearing in the market almost daily or weekly. The prevailing belief is that meme coins offer the highest ROI, which they are delivering.

Then, why not create a platform for predicting the performance of any cryptocurrency or a platform for predicting future trends in the market or both?

What are your thoughts on this?

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Did Anyone here saw the Coingecko Narrative Tweet for Q1 of 2024? on: April 04, 2024, 01:03:29 PM
I do not understand why they forgot to say the reason which resulted in finding the new narrative. They forgot to add one line on their tweet that Bitcoin was why the market went into the green zone and created these new narratives. I would have loved it if they had explained that Bitcoin ETF caused a bull run due to which Bitcoin broke its previous ATH. I am only sharing the screenshot of this tweet and those who are into altcoins should take advantage and also understand that Bitcoin is and will be the reason for your gains from altcoins.

Such hypocrisy always pisses me off! Does it do the same to everyone around here who knows the potential of Bitcoin? If not then tell me the reason why and if yes you agree with me tell me why we cannot force them with collective efforts to disclose the reason behind the narrative.

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Potential Scams to Watch Out For in the 2024 Bull Run! on: March 10, 2024, 01:10:08 PM
Hey! newbie community,

With Bitcoin trying to create a new ATH and in the current market condition, there would be an influx of new members on BTT. As a newbie, you are prone to get caught in unrealistic offers here and with new projects that will sound extremely profitable. I have been a member of this forum for approximately six years. During this time, I have observed numerous scammers becoming active whenever the market is experiencing a bull run. To prevent newcomers from losing their investments, I decided to share some of my experiences.

In the current market conditions three most common and effective scams you will encounter. These three scams are so effective to date that scammers tend to use it whenever they see the market is in a bull run and would use them for their benefit.

  • Pump-and-Dump schemes
  • Fake news and FUD
  • Rug pulls

There are numerous topics about these three scam techniques within the forum and also available on Google. If you want to know what they are then copy the sentence and search as it does not make any sense for me to again go through them here. What I am interested is providing you with newbies to identify such scams. Let's start with the first one and then we will discuss the others one by one.

Pump-and-Dump schemes

They are not something that any newbie should focus on as it will get you destroyed if you believe in them. The scammers would first invite anyone to join a channel on telegram where they will show how much gain every joined user has made. If you do join the channel and see such a user and then view their profile you would 90% of the time you would find it to be a user telegram bot. All you would need to do is to check the username and you will not find it. You will see the info with the username which means it is a user bot. Stay away from such telegram channels or WhatsApp channels that give unrealistic hope and promise good gains.

Fake news and FUD

Beware of news circulating in social media and chat groups as they are always dangerous. It is imperative to verify any news coming out from those networks and those circulation in the mainstream media. I have seen how bad it can be in the 2021 bull run and do remember that influencers are not gods or people you can follow blindly it is better to do checks before believing in them or anyone. One simple task you can do is follow the social media handles of cryptocurrencies where you have invested and check with mods of those platforms whether the news is correct. Remember fear, uncertainty, doubt, and fear of missing out is the biggest reasons a newbie incurs a loss in cryptocurrency investment.

Rug pulls

Another devastating scams involve developers abandoning a project after taking investor's funds. Be cautious of projects with anonymous teams or unaudited smart contracts or a new shit coin project wherein you trying to ride the hype will lose everything. It is again important to check the project papers and roadmap to assert that the new project is good for investments. However, it is risky as there are new projects with a lot of promises that have done this scam without much effort.

Let's keep the conversation going if the senior members and above think there should be more that should've been added to this topic please reply. I might have missed something.

11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you love league cricket? What do you think about prediction contest? on: February 28, 2024, 12:36:39 PM
I have been an avid cricket lover from the day I understood cricket. I do bet on cricket depending on the cricketing events happening around the globe. I still do not understand why cricket lovers within the forum (except a few) are not interested in betting pools. Lately, I saw a good amount of forum members engaged in competitions and they were successful according to the engagement that thread had last year.

I have been following the cricket prediction contest from last year wherein someone came up with a prediction contest for ODIWC. I saw many cricket individuals participating enthusiastically, and a few of them won Bitcoin as it was a sponsored event. Considering a few big events this year with Cricket such as IPL and the T20WC, please share your experience participating in the past contest. Please share what can be improved and how you feel about a sponsored prediction contest.

I would love to hear from everyone what hampered you to participate in it. I would like to hear from everyone who participated in that contest what made you feel that the contest was not transparent. What made you leave the contest in between and what made you think that the contest could have been more competitive? Please answer my question to help me understand the outcome of any prediction contest. I am asking these questions to help myself if I plan to have something like it.

P.S: This is not a discussion about betting but finding reasons.
12  Economy / Gambling / MOVED: Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 16, 2024, 12:15:10 PM
This topic has been moved to Gambling discussion.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 16, 2024, 12:12:10 PM
We all have debts somewhere or the other and we try our level best to repay that debt. While some of us can do it with ease, some of us face issue after issue to repay it. The situation leads us to find alternatives like consolidation loans or shifting existing loans to another bank at a cheaper rate. But what happens when you take a loan from a loan shark due to a bad reputation with banks? They give the loan without any problem at a high interest rate and most of the time it will be a noncollateral loan. Why I am saying all this because one of my friend has become a victim of a loan shark and to repay the loan he has now shifted to online gambling.

In my country online gambling to an extent is legal but as we all know the house always wins. He tried multiple online gambling platforms but never made any money. Two days back he called me up and said he found an online casino that had a few bugs as one of his colleague was able to cash out a handsome amount by using some tricks. I won't go into details of those tricks as it was complicated for me to comprehend, what he wanted me to check was to find out whether it is possible to trick the system. He asked me to check the casino and he even gave me his account information to try a few games.

I was earlier skeptical and denied his request but he insisted that I take a look. I did and found that the games are not that tough to be rigged if done correctly but when I checked the account balance and found out that he had already invested a good amount of money to make a win and lost a substantial it I was furious with him. Now, he wants me to help him so that he can pay off his debt at the earliest. I have already told him that gambling is a dangerous cycle and it can lead him to more debt. Still, he insists that I help him and is willing to take a risk.

I haven't replied to him and I am not answering his call as I feel I would be doing injustice if I say yes. I am confused and do not know what to do, what do you guys suggest?
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / What contributes to a casual gambler becoming an addicted gambler? on: February 13, 2024, 04:00:51 PM
I was wondering what makes someone transition from a casual gambler to a gambling addict. Here are six reasons I've identified.

  • To find an alternative full-time earning source
  • Chasing Losses
  • Lack of Alternative Income earning opportunities
  • Using Gambling as an Excuse for Personal/Profesional Problems
  • lDream of Winning Big
  • An excuse
  • Setteling ongoing debt

If you have anything else then do write it down on this thread. This thread is only to help anyone who is into daily gambling realize the incident that led to compulsive gambling or everyday gambling.

This is a self-moderated thread that means if anyone here wants to vent out his or her frustration then they are welcome.

Let's hear it so that everyone knows.

15  Local / India / Suggestion! Access Banned International Exchanges with VPNs that Accepts Crypto. on: February 13, 2024, 01:31:45 PM
After the URL ban and mobile application ban of some of the most used International exchanges by the Indian government. The question that comes up in our mind is when this blanket ban will be removed. Is the government trying to ban Bitcoin and altcoin trading? What options do we have to access these international exchanges?

There are so many questions that you might have in your mind about the current situation. I won't be able to answer any of them in this post. However, I can suggest an alternative way for you to access international exchanges on your desktop or laptop. I am not sure about mobile devices as they are a big privacy threat even if you add a VPN. The reason is that all of us are not so smart in stopping apps from accessing our location.

If you want to ensure your online privacy and security while using VPNs, it's better to avoid paying subscription amounts using your debit/credit card. This is because the government can still track your payment, compromising your privacy. Instead, you can opt for VPNs that accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies/stablecoins. This will allow you to access these exchanges more securely and conveniently.

To help remind all of us here which international exchanges are banned, I am listing the names of those exchanges below.

List of Exchanges that are shadow banned:

  • Binance
  • Kucoin
  • Huobi
  • Kraken
  • Bittrex
  • Bitstamp
  • MEXC Global
  • Bitfinex

List of VPNs that accept Bitcoin or altcoins/stablecoins

  • NordVPN
  • Surfshark
  • ExpressVPN
  • CyberGhost
  • Private Internet Access (PIA)

There are different ways to achieve online privacy, and some people might suggest using the TOR browser instead of VPNs. However, it's important to understand that the TOR browser will slow down your internet browsing speed, which can be a significant inconvenience if you need to engage in online trading activities. On the other hand, VPNs provide a fast and secure connection, but they usually require users to pay for their services.

I have personally used two VPN services, namely Nord and Express. In terms of providing a secure, hidden, and anonymous connection, both of them have proven to be excellent. I want to clarify that I have not received any payment from either of these companies for writing this post. If you have used any other VPN service, please feel free to share your experience by replying below.
16  Local / India / CoinDCX CEO expects crypto tax to be reduced after 2024 election. on: February 07, 2024, 10:38:19 AM
I came across an article where Sumit Gupta said that in the next full budget, which is going to happen in July 2024 after the election there would be a reduction from the current tax of 30% to 10% or maybe 5%. He suggested reducing the TDS rate from 1% to 0.01% and making the tax rate consistent with other assets. Considering the way the government is currently handling international exchanges and the way it is trying to force the community to use Indian exchanges. Do you think Gupta's expectations from the government can become a reality?

I doubt that the Indian government is interested in encouraging the crypto community to do business in the country. Their priority seems to be squeezing out the community and milking the middle class through unprecedented taxing. Even if the middle class wants to earn through cryptocurrency, they want to tax them more. The government's policy has been like this since it came into power in 2014, and I do not expect it to change in the future.
17  Local / India / Everything is becoming shitty with the local board. on: February 01, 2024, 01:45:50 PM
This is a vent post to allow my frustrations to go out. Please do not think of it as a finger point out to anyone.

I have been active and trying and trying, I have tried my level best to organize this board. The problem lies within everyone as everyone is busy with their problems. Thanks to the fucking government we are all going to lose money more cause of the shadow ban. There is only one question that comes to my mind as a crypto investor and a signature campaign member. Am I going to elect the same government for the next 5 years term, obviously yes, as we don't have a good opposition. We only have a corrupt opposition that we are aware and it is known to everyone residing in India.

The problem is that nothing can be changed with the way the government is operating. The solution is that we a few active members get an extra income through a signature campaign, though, we would know how to utilize a campaign reward every week. The next problem is that we as an Indian community don't get selected so easily into a campaign as we are not technically sound.

Merit givers or merit sources are not to be seen., why? As they don't consider our replies worth enough, Is it because we are not worthy enough or the first or they do not consider us suitable to get merits?  I wonder why they are not responding to posts and assume they are busy with their own problems, but will it continue?

Looking forward to your replies and suggestions!

18  Local / India / Which Country has the Highest Crypto Tax Rate and Which does not? on: January 30, 2024, 09:07:04 AM
Found this image being circulated on social media and I was amazed as to how much some countries have crypto tax. All of them are more than what we are paying in our country and some are beyond our imagination. There is another list where countries do not charge a single rate as tax. So, which country are you planning to shift to after watching the image below?

Iceland and Japan are two countries that do not have a lot of population. That might be the reason why the tax rate is so high in these two countries. After looking at those rates I think we are still better than those living in these countries.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / This Bitcoin block is new for me. Can anyone explain what happened? on: January 26, 2024, 11:48:34 AM
I was going through the mempool and I while checking the blocks that got confirmed, I found these two blocks which for me do not make any sense. As my understanding goes these two blocks were mined but the fee is missing. My first question is, What is this called, and how it is done? My second question who is responsible for it? My third question is has this happened in the past? I am confused as this is the first time I have seen it and I want to know more about it. I am sharing the screenshot below.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 20, 2023, 02:01:49 PM
As the USD value of Bitcoin rises, you would now come accross numerous posts accross multiple social media platforms and Chat apps. They as in the the scammer would offer anyone with lucrative offers.

The biggest one would be to make you realise that you can use multiple avenues for your portfolio to get a big push, if you allow them to handle it. Next, it would be airdrops which will ask you to surrender your Private Key in the end after going  through their requisite.

Another one would be a pump and dump group showing you how much they make a profit everyday through paid signals
In the end it would be a project copying others or a new one trying to cash on the trend.

In the current scenario when AI has the ability to swap face and make it sound like an original influencer or a celebrity talking. It is better to research before you invest to gain double or triple multiplier. The best you can do is to avoid them.

The time has come when understanding crypto in detail and DYOR more than earlier has become a necessity. If you don't understand anything happening in the market then stay away and do not become greedy to ride the wave. Things are not so good as they were earlier post 2021.
