2  Economy / Securities / [GLBSE] House for sale: RFC on: June 22, 2012, 10:46:46 PM
I've just discovered Manchester NH can take my home under current law. After a divorce a number of years ago that saw me lose a large amount of my wealth, I find my own house is now under duress. My mining operation is not yet big enough for me to be able to afford the taxes here and unless I can find a way to pay these the town has stated that I may lose my property.

In order to resolve this issue I propose a profitable fund called House.

This initial offering will sell the value of my house, or some portion thereof, in shares with each pinned to the current market value of the property. All the funds will be reinvested in a spread of securities on the GLBSE stock exchange and all the dividends will be payed to the shareholders. As an additional diversification part of this fund may be used to purchase mining equipment, probably ASICs from BFL to add to the dividends. Shareholders will be allowed to vote on this spread etc.

This IPO will act as a home equity loan but instead of interest being paid to the bank, dividends will be paid to the investors.

I will maintain a number of the shares and use the dividends from these to pay the outstanding usury taxes and the right to purchase back the shares at the current market value.

Since house prices are generally heading up here this is could be a very good investment going into the future.

Any constructive suggestions would be very much appreciated. If the fund becomes a reality this thread will be used as a place for shareholder discussions.

Details:

Please view this proposal as a request for comment rather than a legal document.

This fund's idea of reinvesting in other GLBSE securities is repeated numerous times with many of the funds on GLBSE whether backed by collateral or not. This is a collateral backed fund. However adding to this with actual mining hardware would increase the dividends greatly.

Pending photos ect.  This house was originally a single family home and sits on 3/4 of an acre in downtown Manchester, NH. With gingerbread architecture, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms/1 half bathroom, two car powered garage, brand new shingle and copper roof, and a purchase price of 320k.

The house is fully paid for. There are no other owners, I hold a free and clear title minus back taxes which I'll have to calculate. There is no seizure order and the taxes are limited to around 10 to 15k.

This IPO is constructed as to be somewhat similar to a home equity loan, with all the proceeds being immediately reinvested in dividend bareing securities payable to the shareholders. The dividends performance will of course be based on the performance of a diversified selection of GLSBE securities while the value of the shares should reflect the value of the property or part thereof.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Side stepping nonsense governments, OpenGov can it work? on: June 21, 2012, 02:04:18 AM
I propose an online government that allows everyone to participate based on an infallible voting system (presumably a fork of Bitcoin, perhaps with built in incentives for good participation.). It would become the de-facto standard and every denizen would be born with the right to operate it once they can prove their age and citizenship.

There are hundreds of millions of folk in the country and each of their so called votes for representatives and presidents is so watered down as to appear almost meaningless. Politicians are practically unaccountable and the common folk are separated by so many degrees from the policies and bills that determine their life's as to be laughable.

The political systems of the world only ends up serving to perpetuate the slavery whether by greed, negligence or corrupt business influence. In the end democracy has been shown to work somewhat however in it's current guise it appears to require too much trust in individuals who are too easily corrupted.

I say de facto standrad since, much like Bitcoin's rejection of central control and monetary policy, this project would simply side step all governments and allow the voice of the actual people to be heard.

All issues would be represented digitally and initially would simply compare the decisions of the people versus those of their politicians.

It's likely governments would reject this system outright however with enough participation the people would see just how disjoint the decisions they make versus what their so called leaders are backing and would eventually secede.

There are good reasons to delegate since there are always so many issues at hand however I believe it would be possible to design a system that could balance this deluge and allow normal citizens to make informed choices about real issues rather than voting for someone else who may or may not end up making the choice they wanted. Perhaps private aggregated information services could provide the required information.

Open Source, why not Open Government? It only seems to follow given the importance of the decisions those people are making on our behalf.

Current governments were designed as an evolution towards stripping control from the ultimately powerful in an attempt to empower those ruled and are essentially ancient artifacts that nontheless were and are still unduly influenced by the wealthy and powerful. The British house of Lords is a case in point, the US Federal reserve another where unelected officials wield unlimited power.

The forefathers came here to escape the nonsense of royal rule and yet time has managed to bring it all back.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / GLBSE Account Recovery Fails. One week without access so far. on: June 08, 2012, 04:45:19 PM
It's been about a week since I've been able to access my GLBSE funds. Ever since I tried to recover the account after applying dual authentication and having it working for about a week. Their technical support has responded a few times telling me to:

a) Enter the auth-code.
b) Use my correct email address.
c) Make sure my phone has the correct time.

I'm using the same authenticator for other accounts, and we discovered that my phone's time should be fine.

Every time I try to recover the account I'm told my email does not exist however tech reports my account is fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / GLBSE two facor authentication reporting incorrect auth-code on: June 06, 2012, 02:20:35 PM
I've tried logging into my GLBSE account it fails with "Auth-code Incorrect" which is odd since I'd been logging in with Google Authenticator for a few days now. The email I got from tech support after waiting and reporting to them that I'm having trouble with the auth-code says:

"after checking your account everything is working fine.

You need to keep in mind that you must enter your two factor
authentication code when logging in(as you have enabled two factor
authentication).
"

Do they have a phone number or have I just lost all my bitcoin?

Thank you.
