1  Economy / Economics / What's up with MtGox? on: June 14, 2011, 01:38:37 PM
Everytime I try to check MtGox it appears to be down or smthn? Anyone knows details?
2  Economy / Economics / do you really think it's over? on: June 11, 2011, 10:59:56 PM
I mean, seriously? You may call it a bubble, a ponzi-scheme or whatever but if you think the "hype" is over, well only god can help you. I'm from Germany and judging by the few active users in the german bitcoin forum and by asking my friends bitcoin just STARTED to become popular in germany, thats millions of people just waiting to be part of the hype.

I wont advise anyone to buy or sell, and maybe i am even in the wrong forum here cuz i'm not a big bagholder or anything, just a regular miner @ 1.5 gigahashes in a pool, always selling when i have my coins. But at the moment, heck i won't sell. Prices WILL go up. even if bitcoin like dissappeares into insignificance and get's practically worthless, everybody would stop mining cuz hey, who would waste electricity for something worthless, right? but that would cause the difficulty to go down so much, that you could mine again profitably, or do you just think all the sites and pools would be taken down and whole project bitcoin would come to an end. just share your thoughts and oppinions.
greetings from germany.
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Is MtGox paying? on: June 09, 2011, 01:15:35 PM
Yeah, basic question, i live inside the EU and i heared a lot of complaints today that MtGox is scamming people, not transferring the money etc.
Is it bogus? Is it true? please tell me, i've only mined so far, but never sold. So is MtGox trustworthy?
4  Bitcoin / Mining / A quite general question. on: June 08, 2011, 10:42:47 PM
So I started pooled mining today, set auto payout to 1BTC and when it was reached it just vanished and did not appear in my wallet.
does the wallet have to be on the mining station, or can you just have it on another computer?
5  Bitcoin / Mining / 5970 Black Edition VERY HOT on: June 08, 2011, 09:56:10 AM
So I set up my rig yesterday, set everything up and started mining right away.
one thing i immediately noticed in the ati afterburner tool, was that my GPU temperature is very high, atm i run the card with

cpu clock: 875 mhz
memclock: 1300 mhz

and the temperature after 10 hours of straight mining is at a constant 93 degrees celsius, but even without overclocking the temperature is at 88 degrees celsius.

my question: is that too hot, i mean 88 degrees withou OC sound high to me.

side note: atm i'm pulling 828 megahashes, thats more than the hardware comparison told me.
6  Bitcoin / Mining / Just bought hardware for my first rig - did I fail ? on: June 07, 2011, 11:13:01 AM
well, so i recently purchased hardware to build my first rig, i know it's a little late and i hear a lot of people talk about the bitcoin bubble bursting soon etc. but I really did not invest that much money so basically I know it's a gamble but i don'r care.
anyways, cuz i'm not a complete dumbass i took a look at

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

before purchasing anything and after a little bit of thinking i decided to buy ONE HD 5970 and maybe a second one later if this project turns out to be success....

my question is: was that the wrong card to buy, i mean all i see in the forum is ppl talking about their 6990 (or dual 6990) miners, whereas the 5970 is way cheaper and, according to the chart, will get
approx. the same megahashes/s.

so tell me, did I fail, didn't I fail, and if a wanna buy a second video card should i buy another 5970 or a 6990.

sorry for my crappy english, it's not my first language but hopefully you can still understand me.
